Moderate and Deluxe Beds

Last November we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge (standard view w/ 2 queens). It was our first deluxe resort stay. We noticed the beds were VERY comfortable and were a memory foam type.

Do all of the deluxe resort rooms have the "upgraded" beds, or did we just stumble onto a renovated/upgraded room?

We have never had that type of bed in a moderate and were just chalking it up as a perk of the deluxe resorts.

On the same trip (split stay) we did Coronado Springs and they were not the same mattresses. When we did the transfer to WL, we noticed right away the mattresses were different. In a good way!

In 2014 we stayed at CBR in a recently refurbed room and thought the bed was amazing. It was the memory foam type. This past Novemeber we stayed at POR and the bed was nice but not near as memorable.

When we first went to POFQ years ago they just refurbed and DH HATED the bed, yet I loved it. Been at the Contemporary ever since and some beds were hit/miss there.

I don't like memory foam type mattresses and thankfully they haven't had them in any Disney resort that I've noticed so far. We stayed at CBR in December and while comfy they just looked to have a pillow topper not memory foam. I found the beds at BC quite uncomfortable but they were comfy at CBR and BWI.

Stayed at GF 2015 and beds were VERY comfortable. Stayed at Poly 2016 and beds were tolerable but I wouldn't call them comfortable. I like the transportation better at Poly (monorail isn't packed before it reaches you and you can walk to TTC) but I sure wish they would put in better beds.

I always considered mattresses being like the WDW transportation, hit or miss:) Plus; it also varies by an individual preference, firm etc. I can tell you that we have had stays where the 2 beds in our room felt totally different.

Would you mind telling me which WL deluxe room number you had? I'm trying to request one with 2 queens as opposed to a king.

We have never stayed in a moderate, so nothing to compare it too but have stayed in all the deluxe resorts and all beds have been comfortable. However, I do not believe they use memory foam in any of the resorts. I know all our WL stays were regular spring/coil. They have a plush topper and in our experience they are mostly the same with some differences accountable mostly to age and wear and tear.

I would not think any have a king bed. The occupancy for those is 6 and I am not aware of any that have king beds. Have stayed in them numerous times and never received a king. The description when booking indicates the rooms have 2 queens and a sleeper sofa.

In any case, just call Disney Signature Services for any requests. I would not request a specific room number. If you request a specific room number the assignor has no idea why you requested that number and no clue what to give you in the very likely event that it is not available on the day you check in. As all these are club level rooms all your requests should go through Disney Signature Services.

Thanks for the info! I've only been looking online and 2018 rooms aren't released yet. I was worried as TouringPlans shows every WL deluxe as kings. Realizing much room info indicated there is not accurate.

I've never had a memory foam bed, but found the beds at GF were the best. I've stayed at all the deluxe except CR & BWI. I love the POR resorts but the beds are too hard for me. I have arthritis in one hip and am a side sleeper. That side was quite sore so when staying there try not to sleep on that side. But those GF beds are like sleeping on a cloud, pure heaven!!

Great question, I can't speak to the moderates as I have not stayed in one but I have stayed in several deluxes and the mattresses have always been super comfortable. never a bad night's sleep at any trips.

Now when we stay in a 1 bedroom villa and the kids take over our king bed and DH sleeps on the sleeper sofa he says they kill his back - and that at every deluxe we have been in.

Touring plan for some reason has never updated there info in years and years. At one point the deluxe rooms at WL had a king bed and queen pull out for at least 5 years now, the deluxe rooms have two queen beds and a queen pull out.

Just to let you know, be on top of your booking the deluxe rooms go very fast and now they have 1/2 of what they use to have. Because the rest will now be in copper creek villas and not wilderness lodge.

I've been worried about that, so once I got my answer about there being two queens I called and booked this afternoon. So excited!!
