ETA: Ugh, sorry about the mis-spelling in the title... that'd be TRANSPORTATION! My phone will not let me change it!

Anyway, we leave in a few days for our annual WDW vacation, yay! This will be our first split stay between two onsite resorts: POP then AKL Kidani. We will not have our own vehicle so I have been assuming we would just need to call a taxi to transport us and our belongings. However, I've seen a few posts in threads lately that alluded to Disney transferring luggage between resorts. For all you split-vacationers, is there such a service or is a taxi the way to go?

Disney will transport your luggage. You can go about your business on the day you transfer. You can go to a park or Downtown Disney, then when you're new room is available, just take a bus to that resort & your bags will already be there.

Doing a split-stay vacation is so easy!

There is luggage transfer services at WDW.
On the morning of your transfer you would take your luggage to Bell Services (not sure if that is what they are named at POP) and tell them where you are transferring to. They will transport them to your new resort in the afternoon, I have read this occurs about 3 PM usually.
You could then go to a park or whatever, and just go to your new resort and check in in the afternoon.
You will have to call Bell Services at the new resort when you are in your room to deliver your luggage. Be sure you tip Bell Services when they deliver them.
The downside to this service is that your luggage will not be available to you until late in the afternoon, I have read as late as 5

Last December I called bell service the night before I was leaving resort A and arranged a pick up time for the next day for my luggage. Next morning Bell Services called to confirm then showed up and gave me tags for the luggage they took. I left, had a breakfast ADR at my resort, went to MK then over to Epcot and then to resort B. Checked in at resort B, asked @ Bell Services if my bags had arrived on my way to the new room learned the bags were there so asked Bell Services to deliver the bags which they did immediately. Super easy, plus, the TV in room B was on the fritz when I initially turned it on and the bell services guy noticed it when he was dropping off my bags and fixed the cable connection (I'm clueless about these things.) Easy peasy. Only downside is don't forget to have enough single bills to tip each bell service guy.
This was one deluxe to another - rather than value to DVC, but I assume the service would be approximately the same.

Last month, we did a split stay between PoP and POFQ. The night before the move, I called down to bell service and arranged for a 7am pick-up and informed them of the resort I was transferring too. We did rope-drop at MK, left around noon to go check-in at POFQ. We called down to luggage service around 3:30 and they delivered our luggage to the room. It was very easy.

I'm sure Disney transport is fine, but we did cab. $13 or so last December between POR and BC. No hassles, had all our luggage with us, and we were actually able to check into our BC room right away with our luggage in tow. Then off to the parks... :cool1:

We usually just cab it now ... Disney transport is fine but the peace of mind that comes with taking care of it yourself is worth the taxi fare IMO
