Ok, we are going in the fall but the budget will be tight for the French Quarter. So we are looking to change to a value to give ourselves some breathing room. My problem is when we went the first time we stayed at AS Sports and it was really loud in general and I didn't enjoy it that much. I like the feel of the mods, they seem more laid back.
So is there any Value that comes close to the feel of a Mod? If not what is your favourite Value and why?
Busses are not an issue because we normally drive around the World unless we are going to have a few cocktails.

I've only stayed mod and deluxe and the values have never appealed to me. But last night I looked at pop and aoa on YouTube and thought they looked like so much fun! I'd stay at either one for sure.

We love CBR and did a Pop visit for budget reasons a few years ago ourselves. Honestly, it's probably a little noisier (just more kids, etc) but it was just fine for us. The food court was fine and so were the pools. No hot tubs, fyi. There aren't the beaches, or some of the posh foliage we're used to at CBR, but honestly it was still great - I mean, we were at Disney! However, we've been back to CBR since, and we're back there again in less than 2 months. We really love CBR, but there was nothing bad about Pop at all! :thumbsup2

Thanks Dave, if we do I guess I'll ask for a place out of the way. When we were at POR or CSR the foot traffic going by the room was hardly anything. When we were at Sports we weren't to far from the main pool, main building and it seemed like everyone had to go by the room to get where ever they were going. Made chilling out in the afternoon or even getting to sleep at night hard.
So as Values go Pop is the best one?

We've stayed at deluxe and values for all 23 years we've been going to DW and stayed at our first value, Pop, this past December. We wanted to make a quick Christmas trip and since we're going in June, we wanted to save some money. I was really expecting to not like it, but I was really surprised. The rooms were a little smaller, but that didn't bother us at all. We'd just spent 2 weeks on a cruise last summer, and the room seemed spacious in comparison. The food court was nice, grounds well themed, well taken care of and I really didn't notice the place being any louder than CSR, BC, Poly or any other Disney resort. Since we don't spend that much time in our room, it was fine for us. I still prefer a moderate, but would definately stay value again, especially the new AoA or Pop. :)

We stayed at POP for the first time and really liked it. We have stayed at CBR and really enjoyed that also. At POP, we didn't have any trouble with noise. We were in the 60's preferred building. The pool area was great for our small children. I think you should give them a try! We would go back to POP for sure! So I would choose that or the new AOA.

We tried this once to. First 3 trips were values and we loved them. Then we spoiled ourselves and did POR and loved loved it. Then we thought well we loved POR but lets save the money and do Asmu. We checked into Asmu for 1 night then switched to POR the next day. From what you said about how you felt about Sports I would stay at a mod.

I have stayed at all 3 value resorts and I like Pop the best. You can request a quiet room facing the lake.

We have stayed at the AS Music, Pop, CSR, POR, WL, and the Poly. The only thing I didnt like about the values was they seem more crowded and noisy in the food court and on the buses. I guess that is because more people stay at them with their kids and to save money.

We have stayed at Pop, ASMo, and ASMu...and for the reasons that you stated, I would suggest ASMusic for you. It has a quieter, smaller feel to it. It seemed less crowded and the food court/bus lines/check in were not as busy as the other two. We were there Thanksgiving week for all three stays, so I am comparing the same week of crowds. The movies by the pool at night was great. Pop was by far the most crowded and it seemed much louder and busier. The pools were really crowded and the food court was always mobbed. It took forever to check in and we waited more than once for a second bus because there were so many people in the bus line. We said that we would not go back to Pop because it was just so chaotic. While I like the theming better at ASMovies, ASMusic was a more relaxing stay. :goodvibes

one of my BFs loves POP. She preferred it to CSR.

I have another suggestion as well.. any chance you could apply a discount to a moderate? If you get a 30% off or pin code discount it will lower the price to near a value.

(I am sure you've thought of that, but just in case)

We're on a budget our next trip too. I'd love to upgrade from a moderate, but I have to count on a big discount to be able to.. good luck!

We stayed at ASMu and we thought it was really well landscaped and it was a lot less 'garrish' than the others. We were on the backside of building 10 facing the courtyard and we found it to be quiet and very well placed. However I have heard that the far buildings are very very queit and as long as you don't mind a bit of a walk to the front (buses/food court/main pool) then it's much more peaceful.

If you want to avoid noisy crowds, I'd probably stay away from POP as I seem to read a lot about it being much larger/busier than the All Stars. But I would say for sure the AoA - it will be brand new and is supposed to be more comparable to a Mod than a Value from what I've read.

I liked Pop when we stayed there during off season. It didn't seem too terribly noisy. Try to request a room away from the pools.

I was at Pop last Sept for free dining with a friend. We stayed in a regular room, 60's the very last room on the 3rd floor (away from the pool) right across the lake from AoA. We had no problem with noise.

Yes the pool was noisy during the day, but I would guess that all pools are noisy.

Thanks for the input folks. You have given us a lot to think about. Buses and food court are not much of a worry. We drive around ourselves and eat cereals for breakfast. Tend not to eat at the resort we are staying at, now that I think of it I'm not sure why, just works out that way.
Do the values have fridges now? How about free wifi in the rooms or is it still the $10 a day thing?

As far as I know wifi is everywhere now, they have been installing small mini fridges in the values, basically just big enough to hold a few drinks or bottles. Not sure how far they've gotten but know that people have reported that they cool just fine but are smaller than the dorm fridges at Mods.

If it's enough to keep a jug of milk cold thats all we need.

Honestly..... Try another mod Maybe CSR or CBR may be cheaper. I've stayed value a few times and just find the whole atmosphere to be too overwhelming! Too much stimulation! I found the resort way too noisy for my taste!!! It may be worth it just so you can relax!
Good Luck!:goodvibes

I say go stay at the Music. It is much smaller than the Pop, and the theme is a little less attractive to the kiddies than the Movies or Sports themes.

Also, if you want a quiet location ask if you can be on the top floor. You will have little to no foot traffic going by your room, and you will not have anyone jumping on your heads. Also, the back of the buildings are quieter than the front side.
