As the mother of an autistic child with executive functioning skills problems I have to say that frankly, it sounds like you're making excuses for why you can't take responsibility for this. I'm not saying this to be mean, honest. You need to understand that ultimately, you need to own this problem and keep trying some of these techniques until you can make them feel more natural. You turn off an alarm and ignore it? How is that an executive functioning problem? That's a refusal to do what you're being reminded to do. Use your cell phone to set an alarm for every little thing you need to do. Don't turn off an alarm until you're actually DOING what you're being alarmed to do. Don't put off entering something into your phone or you won't enter it. Do it right when you think of whatever you need to track. This will feel VERY difficult at first but you have to force yourself to do it. It will never be easy but it will certainly become less difficult and will feel more natural with time and practice. The thing is, you have to actually do it. There isn't an easy solution. This will take hard work on your part. Stop excusing the behaviour of ignoring alarms. No way would I let my daughter get away with that kind of excuse. You are perfectly capable of acknowledging an alarm and of setting alarms and adding tasks to list at the moment the ideas for those tasks come to mind. You just have to DO IT. Putting it off is your problem. If you have to say to people that you need a moment to note something in your phone so you don't forget then say that and enter it right away. DO IT!!!!

I know I sound harsh. I really am saying this to be helpful. Please try.

I don't shut it off, it goes off, and keeps going off, until it stops. I do take responsibility, why else would I be asking for tips and tricks!?! I knew I shouldn't have asked.
