We leave on Saturday for WDW. My father uses a cane because of his arthritis and knees (which need to be replaced but he won't talk about it - he's also stubborn and refuses to use an ECV or chair  .)

Anyway, since most of the lines allow chairs or ECV's in them, but he has difficulty standing for any length of time (walking is actually better), is there any way for the rest of us to wait in line and then have him join us when we get to the front? If so, are there any places to "sit" near the loading area while we go through the queue?

Thanks

It sounds like you need to get your dad a GAC from Guest relations at any of the parks. Explain that he cannot stand in long lines and needs to sit. The CM will give you a GAC that would allow him to wait outside the line. If he has difficulty with stairs tell them that as well so he might be able to use an alternative entrance if there are stairs involved.

Would the GAC be good for our entire stay or would we have to get one at each park, each day? Yes, stairs would be a bother but ramps are actually harder on his knees than stairs so we'll have to look out for that too.

When you go to guest services for your card, they will ask you how long you will be at WDW. They will out the dates on it (ex. valid 12/2-12/8)
These cards are a blessing for people like your father and my husband.
