Mobile Phone costs in USA

Just been on the Vodafone website to see how much my calls will be while I'm in Orlando and its going to be a whopping £1.35 per min to make a call and £1.30 to receive a call.

Is anyone else with Vodafone who has been to USA and if so do you have any tips on making calls cheaper? Did you buy a standard PAYG with another network??

Find out what the tarriffs are on pay as you go. I use my Tesco Mobile PAYG sim card and not sure what it costs for calls but I used texts at 40p to receive and to send. I made sure my voicemail was deactivated so I wasn't charged for that and if anyone phoned (anyone important had been told to text) it leaves the option of rejecting the call at no cost.
