Mobile ordering -- total beginner questions

Why can't it be both? Dunkin Donuts has mobile ordering and it's completely customizable. Same with Panera, Starbucks. Making it customizable isn't a hard request.

None of those places serve nearly as many people per day as most qs places at Disney do. You make things easier to customize, it gums up the works even more. I believe Disney limits the choices for customization hoping that most will just pre-order the standard meal (for convenience) and pick their own lettuce/tomato/etc off the sandwich instead of the kitchen having to actually read a custom order.

Funny that you throw Starbucks in there...they're the world's worst example for efficiency, and it's mostly because of how customizable they allow their orders to be.

The number one tip is REMEMBER TO USE IT. I always forget about it.

This past August, we got caught in a rain storm and ran for cover in the seating area of the Haramba QS in AK. Since we had seating, my husband walked over to the QS and waited in a very long line. Then it hit me - MOBILE ORDER! While in line, we placed our mobile order. It was so fast and efficient. We walked off the line and right over to pick up. We shared one entree just to sample it. My son wanted to try another entree so we Mobile ordered again right from the table. In a matter of minutes our order was ready for pick up.

Later on that week, we mobile ordered from Cosmic Rays and Satu’li Canteen again right from the restaurants with no wait time to pick up.

I need to make a note for next trip to order in advance! You can order hours before you arrive.

We love the convenience of mobile ordering. The hardest part is remembering to use it!

I do wish the resorts QS locations offered it. Those lines are dreadful!

What about if I want ice water with my meal? We don't drink soda and I don't really want to buy a bottle of water for $3.50. I don't see a way to order it. Do I just ask when I pick up my food?

I'd imagine you could, but let someone smarter than me answer.

Yes. When you go to pick up your food just ask for however many cups of ice water you need.

We started using from day one and what we have found is ...

- The more crowded the park the least likely we were able to get the app to work. It will spin and spin and spin like it is looking. Sometimes when pick our restaurant it tells us it is closed, even though it's not. So I would have if possible try to put in your orders very early in day so hopefully you only have to tell them you are there.

- We have had our orders in, arrived to ZERO tables and then just cancelled our meal and gone elsewhere. I think this would likely happen most at the popular places.

- We have experienced some restaurants unable to keep up with the mobile demand as most only have one person working that station. Pinnocchio took 20+ minutes to get our food after we arrived in restaurant. The line at mobile was huge. Restaurantasaurus we probably waited an additional 15 minutes as it appeared no one was working that counter. Only when CMs noticed a line did someone offer to help.

- 50/50 success at fresh food. Like Pinocchio, there were so many of us in line waiting, the food was all sitting there and by time we got ours it was cold but at that point who wants to start over.

It's a great idea, I loved it at the beginning but when they added the ability to use DDP it seemed to overwhelm several of the locations and system at times.

We used mobile ordering last November when it was fairly new and DDP wasn’t available to use through it.

It was AMAZING. But the entire time I was waiting for my food at each place (which wasn’t much time at all then) I was pondering how well Disney would handle it when it got more popular.

Can’t say I didn’t see most of what you reported coming. Unfortunately.

What a bummer.
