Mobile Order Only at Some Counter Services

Here now and just FYI some, not all, counter service restaurants are mobile order only such as Leaky Cauldron and Thunder Falls. It is very, very efficient. I would imagine if you have any dietary restrictions or do not have a smart phone, I would think that they will let you go right to register but I’m not sure on that.

Example, mobile ordered fish and chips at the Leaky cauldron two minutes ago and are now seated and digging in.

ETA: you place your order, show the TM‘s at the front that you have placed an order, and they let you right in to sit down. At the table that you pick, you enter your table number or scan the QR code and the meal is table delivered.

Huh. I've never done mobile ordering at Universal. Wouldn't even know how to do it. Is it somewhere in the app? Wonder if you can pay with a gift card, which is how I do Universal, and get an AP discount. I am an old person and hate apps! I know I ate at 3 Broomsticks in October using the regular ordering system.

We used it last week when we went to Thunder Falls we were told we had to use mobile order then we would be let in and seated. At first I was irritated but it turned out to be quick and easy. Yes use the app, I Already had a credit card saved to use for payment I don’t know about a gift card-give it a try. Yes you can use AP discount, before checkout there’s a place to click then I basically just took picture of my pass.

Yes you’d just download the Universal app. Then click on the top left hand side where there’s 3 lines (which is their menu). Then click on mobile order. You can apply AP discount during the checkout on the app. It’ll scan your AP barcode. You can play around with it prior to your trip, looking at menus and such.

For the counter service restaurants that note table delivery, those are the ones where you mobile order then go right in and wait at a table. (And scan the QR code at that table so they’ll know where to deliver).

Yes I agree… There’s really only a couple of places that are trying out this mobile order only, with table delivery. Leaky Cauldron and Thunder Falls for sure are two that are trying this out currently.

Thanks, very helpful. I do eat at a few of those but I guess I did not in Oct or Dec when we were there.

Looks like there’s an “allergen note” you can add in the mobile order screen for those with food allergies. I’ll try to use that for Leaky Cauldron gluten free breakfast next month & hopefully remember to report back on the success.

Didn’t work well at simpsons food court area for us twice during late lunch. Took over an hour for food.

Louies somewhat better. Blondies & captain America were less than 15 wait for us

Just back and my daughter had gift cards she was using and at Leaky Cauldron they let us go in to a separate line just for people paying with gift cards or cash. They had one register open but you had to ask, took a few extra minutes but not bad at all (food was delicious). But at comic strip cafe (food was awful do not recommend) they said we had no option except mobile order.

Can someone walk me through the process? Our upcoming trip will be our second one, and we haven't used the app or eaten much counter service.
Is it like, step 1-order. Step 2- tell the app you've arrived and they start your food. (i.e. you could order your lunch at 10 am for a 12 pm arrival). Step 3-food delivered/picked up or is it a Step 1-order, Step 2-it's ready and brought to your table (or at the window?)?

When mobile ordering, most CS’s are: Step 1- order on the app, Step 2- click ‘I’m here prepare my order’ (or something like that) Step 3- app states order is ready and you can pick up your order (if it takes awhile inquire inside … Croissant Bakery often does not show up for some reason). You may have to refresh to check status of order. Most cases our food has been ready efficiently.

Some CS’s (the only ones I know of now are just Leaky Cauldron and Thunder Falls) are: Step 1 - order food, Step 2 - click ‘I’m here prepare my order’, Step 3 - show TM at restaurant entrance that you have an order and they will let you in to sit down, Step 4 - scan QR code at your table so they know where to deliver your order.

They could just be testing the mandatory mobile order of those two restaurants. Not sure how long it’ll be like that or if they’ll add restaurants for mandatory mobile order. Not sure. I have noticed that the CS’s that state Pick Up in the app means that it’s not mandatory mobile order.
