Mnsshp

Dumb question, but you don't need a park ticket that day right? Just a ticket to the event. What kinds of activities go on?

Agree with PPers. MNSSHP was fantastic! We did it all -- rode rides, trick or treating, watch the parade TWICE, watch the fireworks...well, we did everything but the character meet and greets, but my family just doesn't prioritize the character meets. We hope to go again this year or next.

The memories my son will have of trick-or-treating at either DL or WDW every year on Halloween night are priceless! Far better than the trip we used to make to the crowded local mall every year, just for them to run out of the cheap off brand candy after an hour. I would have killed to trick-or-treat at Disney as a child & I'm so grateful that I'm able to give him that gift.

Having done quite a bit of the extra ticket items in disney, I have to say this was probably the one that I enjoyed the most. Trick or treating is good (go for the pirates of the Caribbean ride one, it has quite a short line most of the time.) Also, try for the tiki birds one, it's cool seeing inside the ride at night. The parade is a must. I hate all parades, disney's included, maybe especially disney's because I feel like I can be doing something better, but this one is amazing. Full stop, the most amazing parade I've seen, and that includes Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I thought the fireworks were... eh. I don't particularly like fireworks, but it let me meet quite a few characters while everyone else was gawking (including meeting all the tarzan characters at once. When does that ever happen!?) And all the rides were walk ons. It was, flat out, the best experience disney has to offer.

Don't use a park ticket that day. You can get in at 4:00 and get 8 park hours on your party ticket. You will be way too tired getting to the park earlier than that.

The first couple of times we did it, we trick or treated and did not really care for it. Not only are the trick or treat lines long, but people are pushy and rude. The last couple of times we skipped the trick or treating and had an outstanding time.

We also don't do the characters. Waiting 3 hours to see the Dwarves or Jake & Sally just seems like a lot of time spent for little return.

The parade and fireworks are must do's. It's also an absolutely great time to do rides. You can easily get in 6-8 big rides and still see the parade and fireworks.

The Villain show and meet and greet were fun as well.

All in all a great deal if you focus on the things important to your group and don't get caught up in trying to do everything.

But, I'll stress again. Don't combine it with a park ticket on the same day. Too much of a good thing.

Our initial plan was to just do downtown that day and go to Ragland for dinner. If we can find a good price, we will go to MnSSHP instead.

Totally! I went in 2012 with my then 13 year old daughter. She was a little reluctant to dress up and do the trick-or-treating, but once we were there, she loved it! Wanted to go this year, but we can't get down there until November, so we're doing the MVMCP instead.

I've got DVC friends going. Can they buy extra tickets at DVC rate? What is their rate?

I'm glad for you. You'll love it! This year will be our 4th time going to MNSSHP. The Halloween parade is my favorite parade. The Haunted Mansion is especially fun during the party too. There is a "ghost" sitting outside on the lawn talking to people in line. She's hilarious! :hmghost:

DVC rates are only on some nights and it's only a few $ off (I think $10.)

and no it's not really "Worth it" depending on what that means. They have a few special events Dance Parties, stage show, and fireworks plus tricker treating. But the additional events plus hefty price tag (at best it's 7.25$/hr.)
