MNSSHP - Would you go again? (Had bad experience 2 yrs ago, reluctant to try again)

I definitely agree about arriving at rope drop on MNSSHP days, we did that twice during our trip in 2014 and it was AMAZING! Lightest crowds of any time I had been to MK (at least in recent years).

I agree, we do the MK at RD on party days. Low crowds, and by the time the party people are coming in, we ae heading out.

The parties can go any direction depending on what the crowd is doing. If they are doing rides, the place feels empty but rides are long lines. If they are doing everything else, it's packed but rides are walk on and you can do just about the whole park in 1 party..

We love Halloween so skipping the party is not something we would do.

In sept 2014 there was some heavy rain and many staying longer stays got free tickets to other nights when they left early for rain.. weather can also play a part in why a party is packed.

The kind of experience you have described does not happen solely at the hard ticket parties, so I'm not sure it's possible to blame it on "the different crowd these events seem to draw." There isn't a different crowd at the events. You could be at the park on a regular day, and some jerk will shove in front of you at the parade or fireworks. and they won't all be "single, non-family" type people either, although some of them will be. Families can be just as rude, and even ruder. Would you be feeling the same way if some parents came up and pushed their children in front of your children, and then said it was more important for THEIR children to be able to see? That happens, a lot.

However, if you don't have much interest in the party events, there isn't much point in purchasing tickets for it. If you've been to a sold-out hard ticket party, it turns out that the lines for the most popular rides aren't going to be that much shorter.

I'm so torn, especially after reading this thread! My DD (8) loves Halloween, so we were planning on going. But I was under the (mistaken) impression that the crowds were lower at parties than a regular night. DD loves Halloween mostly bc she loves scary stuff (she has done haunted houses/trails since she was 5 with delight), and I know this is a "not so scary" night. She would love seeing the villains though...and as far as fireworks go, it would either be a party night, or a Saturday night in between two party nights for our schedule, and I know that would probably be packed as well. She's a night owl, but I don't know if she could make it to midnight- I think 10:30, maybe 11 is her limit on this kind of exhausting/stimulating vacation. We would definitely want to get some rides in as well. Don't care about candy. So many decisions!!!

They are lower than a regular night. But not enough to make the park feel uncrowded, especially when most guests want to be doing the same thing (waiting for a parade or characters, lining up for rides). And fastpasses are not available during the parties. If you're able to stay until closing time you might have better luck with the rides, as a lot of partygoers poop out before then.
