MNSSHP....What costume ideas do you have?

DD is going as Princess Jasmine and DS is going as the Bell-hop from the TOT both their own ideas. Gramma's making the Costumes. DH and I have not decided.

I picked up costumes at the Disney Store around Christmas last year really cheap. That was before we even knew we were going to go to WDW. My dd is going to be Kim Possible (9.99) and my ds as long as it is not too hot will be stich (7.99). As for DH and myself we will probaly just wear halloween shirts. What is the weather like in the evening at the end of October?

I thought it was warm. We were sweating in our thin pirate costumes by the end of night. We did MNSSHP on Oct 30th and 31st in 2003. I hope those of you thinking about those heavier fur costumes get some cooler nights than we did! :goodvibes

DW and I were discussing this very issue over ice cream last night. From past experience, we have decided that our costumes need be light and airy. Alyssa did not do very well with her heavy mouse costume last year to match our Cinderella and Prince Charming (and we were a little yucky by the end of the evening). So, this year we thought we would go as Dalmations: me-Pongo, DW-Perdita, and Alyssa-one of our puppies. We plan to get some white shirts and pants and put black spots on them. We'll make some spotted ears to attach to headbands. And add some collars with our names. Still debating what to do with our hair to make it white with spots. We'll add a little black makeup to our noses. The original thought was DW as Cruella, me as Horace (Jasper if I get back to the gym), and Alyssa as Perdita. But that would not serve the "light and airy" requirement.

Another thought: Peter Pan, Wendy and Tinkerbell. But, I don't think I'm ready for the tights.

update, we have gone from pirates to jedi's. I am so sure we will get the most creative costume idea prize.

Great ideas. I'm leaning toward something we can do with t-shirt and shorts. Do they have special hats you can buy ie like the mickey ear hats you get at MVMCP?

Do you also know about the food and wine festival, is it good or too crowded?

Food and wine Festival is good too - not too crowded - lots of stalls selling tasters/drinks this will be our third trip to it.
Last two years they have had bands on the stage near America in the evening - we saw The Commodores and Sister Sledge(I think?)
Never have found it too crowded it is nice to have a wander around the world taking in the extras

This year is our first too MNSSHP on 31st!! YIPEEE :earboy2:

We were planning for the kids to maybe be Mickey and Tigger (already have the costumes), but as I read this I worry that it will be too hot for them on Oct. 2. Maybe I will try to find something else. Does anyone know if Cinderella dresses come in size 18 months?

In 2001 our family went as characters from Peter Pan. My mother-in-law does costuming so our costumes were really nice. This year we are going as characters from Alice in Wonderland. The Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum & one of guards or the the cheshire cat. Its alot of fun! I hope everyone enjoys the party.

My children (DD 11 & DS 11) think they're getting to old to dress up for the party. :sad2: So I've had a hard time surfing the net trying to come up with ideas for our group of 5. We've done the princess and prince theme, we've done the Cruella de Ville and villians theme, and we were also trying to come up with something a little more comfy this year. Well, low and behold I found an idea on a website last night that my kids actually liked - we're going as two teams from Trading Spaces and my youngest is going to be a carpenter! To top it all of, I went to the TLC website and got the shirts insanely marked down! I think we'll be all set and comfy this year.

We have 2 Tigger costumes that we're going to wear :teeth: No doubt that we will sweat to death during the night but they are so adorable that I couldn't resist......and I even talked my boyfriend into wearing one so those of you that will be there Oct 2, if you see 2 people walking along as Tigger....that would be us

When we went a few years ago, my DD4 wore a hula skirt and outfit, my DD2 wore a kimono, and my DS 10months wore a kilt....They were my small world dolls!! I thought that was fairly clever. :)

This year our trip is in November so we won't be attending the party this year.

Have fun!

The greatest group costumes I've ever seen was at MNSSHP back in 2003...the little boy (6-7?) was Peter Pan, his mom was Captain Hook and his Dad was a huge Tinkerbell, complete with tights, tutu and wings. It was priceless!!!

Our DS (1 at the time) was an adorable Mickey, but nothing compared to that poor Tinkerbell dad..

My husband does not want to do this but I'm dying to...

I want to dress up a caveman/cavewoman and he would carry a club and I would have a bone through my ponytail and we could be

Bam Bam and Pebles...the later years. :rotfl:

Try to picture it and join me as I laugh my assets off... :earboy2:

We are going to a Luau at campground in a few weeks and they are having a costume party. My ds 9 is wearing a bear costume with a grass skirt and leis. My ds 7 is going as a plam tree and my ds2 is going as a fish. I am finishing up their costumes now. I think dh is going as a surfer. Now if I can just come up with something for me. They have different themed weekend with different costume contests throughout the summer. I won 1st prize for adults a couple of weeks ago with a Mardi Gras themed costume (dress with fishnets, hot pink heels and a mask) The prize was 3 nights free camping. Since the prizes are worthwhile we try to come up with inexpensive costumes that win the prizes.

hi :wave2: I previously posted that my dh was being very "un disney" right down to the CRT lunch...seems like little daughters can melt a big mans heart by just asking...they want to be princesses of course...I have an Ariel, Aurora and a Tinkerbell (princess of all fairies to us!) which fits my little tink perfectly...she is 5 and about 30 pounds :lovestruc so anyway I was going to order cheap costumes off the internet, like the 20 dollar kind...well as we were looking (and they were ok with even the cheap looking costumes) their dad came in the room and asked to see the costumes in the "deluxe" category...he told them to pick out the prettiest, fanciest, best one and he would buy it for them, stating
"the prettiest princesses in the castle have to have the best dresses!!! My princesses get only the best!!!"

ahhhh now he is starting to get the Disney fever!!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc

btw he wants to be Jafar and me be Malificent...ICK...I want to be Minnie in that short little mini skirt :p

I have Prince Phillip for youngest DS. Oldest DS is Shang. Me would be Minnie and Hubby Capt hook.

But I am thinking that those might be too hot since we are going at the beginning of October so I may change may mind. I will pack them just in case but I am thinking MMC would be a great idea.

We went last Halloween as the Skipper and Gilligan. We had a blast. The CM's would sing the theme song to us on almost every ride. I was invited to be the skipper on the Jungle Cruise but we didn't want to take any chances. It was a simple costume, not hot and we had a ball interacting with everyone that night. At first I was a little apprehensive about wearing a costume but after the great night we had I would recommend do little trick or treating.
