I thought it would be fun to get some idea of what other DISers might be coming as for the MNSSHP. I know its a ways off but come on we are all compulsive planners :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: you've at least thought about it!!

So what are some of the brainstorms or decisions?

i guess I'll start: Sorcerer Mickey for me & DW2B-Belle

Who's next.......... :earboy2:

In 2003 we had a group of 11-- we were all pirates.

Last year it was just DH, DS and myself---we went as a pajama party.

Don't know if we'll be going this year or not yet.

Our household has their own ideas. DD12 will be dressed up from a Masquarade Ball, DD8 is the Queen of Hearts and DH is a gangster and I will be a Flapper.

Too funny! DH and I were discussing this last night. We were thinking a pirate and me being a maiden of some sort. We really want to do something original but our mind draws a blank.
Last season we saw a add in a costume magazine for "spartan cheerleaders" from SNL, that is our favorite script on SNL, that that would be a hoot.
Intrested to see other ideas.......??????

My college roommate and his wife (g/f then) did that a few years back!! It was great, they even did a "Spartan Cheer" @ the halloween party :rotfl2:

Just an FYI. If you have a Party City near you--- they usually have their Halloween stuff marked 60-80% down during the summer. It will be behind a faux wall if their anything like the 3 in my area. If you ask they'll let you back their to shop though.

We picked up several dozen costumes last year for $4-5 each. We resold them on ebay-- but if you're looking to get a jump on your MNSSHP costume-- it's a great cheap way to do so.

We are thinking of the whole family going as original Mouseketeers

That's our plan as well. It's easy, cooly, comfy, and fits into the theme! :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Our pirate costumes were too hot last time and uncomfy. I was also too worried about my skirt riding up all the time. The next night I wore shorts underneath to be on the safe side.

Seriously, you are going to want a cool, comfy, and easy costume for MNSSHP.

My DH went as Jack Skellington last year. Admittedly he didn't have quite the lean look that Jack has!!! He got loads of comments, pretty much every CM said hi. Even the characters in the parade came over to him and interacted. He loved it, and he is usually a real wallflower, bless.

We will bring our Jack and Sally outfits, but if it is too warm we need a back up plan- both are rather warm. I could alter the Sally to make it less so, but the wig really is what pulls it together...

My son (9) wants to be Luke Skywaker and dd (7) wants to be Leah. But I want them to go as Harry Potter and Hermine. They also considered Aladin and Jasmine which would be comfortable.

So to sum it up, we are still working on ideas.

The closer you get to Halloween-- I find the more that dress up.

On a given average night I think you'll find about 50% of the adults dressed up and about 80-90% of the kids

I really like the mouseketeers idea! :Pinkbounc What exactly are you going to wear??? :Pinkbounc My ds also has thought of SW, But I have no costume ideas! :sad2:

so people not just dress at the MNSSHP? they dress in a normal oct. day. That is going to be great. This is the first time we go on oct. (sorry if my spelling is wrong I´m not from the US)

Your spelling is perfect!
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) is held on about 20 nights starting in late September (I think) and several nights each week in October. You need a special ticket to attend the party and it is held in the Magic Kingdom from 6 or 7 pm to Midnight. You will find lots of people dressed up on any of those nights.

It's very simple. I've seen this done, and it's what I plan to do too. Black skirt/skort for the girls and black pants/shorts for the boys. White t-shirts with either your name on the front or one of the original mouseketeers names. On the back of the shirt I'd put the mouseketeer logo. Top it off with your black mouse ears (w/ name), comfortable shoes, and go around singing the "Mickey Mouse March." :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We are going as characters from Hercules. dh will be zeus, I will be Meg, Ds9 will be hades, ds7 will be Hercules and ds2 will be pegasus. I have them pretty much made. I still have to find a wig that looks like Megs Hair. The costumes are all made lightweight so they will not be too hot to wear (at least I hope).

Last year, I challenged myself to put together a Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday dress. It turned out great! I was so proud! This year, I think I'm going to try for Wendy from Peter Pan. It shouldn't be too hard to find a blue nightgown. I already know how I'm going to do my hair.

I may have to go on 2 nights because I also want to do a costume for a character from Hairspray!
