We attended both events last year.
MNSSHP: The cost was very reasonable for what we got. The whole park was transformed with Halloween decorations. Spooky music was piped through th epark. Trick-or-treat stations were set up for the children to trick-or-trick. The whole park was open until midnite with the exception of some of the rides. A special Fantasy in the sky was performed. The Headless Horseman ran through to start the parade. There was also a children's parade. Yes, it could be crowded, but we stayed until the very end, and the later it got, the more the crowds thinned out.
999 HHB: I bought these $120 each tickets for myself and my husband as his wedding gift. It was fun to stay in the park after the crowds left. they held us at the border of Adventureland until the party started. The crowds were small...it was almost like you were just there with your family!
When we were let in, we ate. Buffets were set up at different spots in the park; we ate in Adventureland. the food was ok...nothing was labeled and it was dark out! You could not see what you were eating!!! The deserts were delicious though. The rides were almost empty, as people were dispersed throughout the park. We rode HM alone...it was actually kind of creepy! There was a small parade with the gravediggers, Headless Horseman, and HM ghost dancers.
You received coupons for different stations thru the park...one station was Sleepy Hollow Bakery...you got a big tombstone sugar cookie with the Happy Haunts logo on it.
We rode the rides, and we did get to meet Jason Surrell, author of the HM movie book. We got our picture taken in sa Doombuggy. They said there would be a special display at the Castle to close the night. It stunk. They playe dthe same music they played thru the night, and the Castle changed colors.
Whoop-de-doo. Everyone was waiting around, thinking it couldn'e possibly be the end!
On the way out, our parting gift was an ugly red plastic cup with the logo on it. How boring!
It was fun, but I don't know if we would do it again for the price it cost. I would pick MNSSHP. We did get a neat sculpture when we checked in at Coronado Springs...you had to register there and pick up the merchandise you pre-ordered. You were sent a list of items in advance, and through a lottery, they decide what you get. The merchandise was very nice!
Overall, both experiences were fun; I think I was just expecting too much from the HHB.
