mnsshp tips

A thought for dinner. This past year dd5 was dressed as Minnie and we had dinner at Chef Mickey's. It was a blast, she was the only one I saw dressed up and she got so much attention from the characters. Mickey danced up and down the aisles with her and Minnie took her apron off and put it on dd and sat in her seat and tried to send dd off to the other tables to do her job. The only bad thing is that Chip took her trick or treat bucket off the table and took off with it for a few minutes and she wouldn't have anything to do with Chip the rest of our vacation. It was great though. We stayed in the park while it shut down and rode some of the rides with no wait and then went to eat at about the time the park actually opened so we didn't have to deal with the rush of the crowd coming in. We love MNNSHP and plan to do it again when we go next Oct. It's great!

Do they only do mnsshp on Halloween weekend? The kids have a long weekend Oct. 15 and we were hoping this party would be going on.

Tentative dates for 2004: Oct. 1, 3, 8, 12, 14, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31

We're planning to go to the MNSSHP for the first time this year. Do the kids typically wear costumes? I wouldn't think some costumes would hold up well on some rides, like princess type with long skirts. Do people wear costumes and what type?

from the Tentative dates posted, it looks like the days open for the party during my stay will be friday, sunday, and tuesday. wich day would you choose? im going 10/20-10/27. will be arriving late the 20th.;)

We will be in Disney April30-May9th. Does anybody know if we can purchase the tickets while we are there and if so, where?

I would pick either Sunday or Tuesday as they'd probably be less busy than Friday (Friday brings the locals) and I'd probably pick Sunday over Tuesday...that way if by chance Sunday gets rained out, you could hopefully switch to Tuesday.

I got through the first 3 pages-- so sorry if this has been posted. For A LOT of great tips there was a MNSSHP thread going for several months last year leading up to the event. Don't know how to post a link, but I'd do a search. The thread had invaluable info and was something like 50 pages long!!

We did MNSSHP on 10/31/03. It was a sell out. I can tell you, sell-outs are CROWDED!! I've been Easter week, and MNSSHP was just as crowded!!! The themeing itself is really cute, and the parade is a must see!! If you can avoid 10/30 & 10/31 I would (they were both sell outs last year and w/ them being on the weekend this year they most likely will be again). I would love to do this party again, but only if it weren't a sell out.

The good thing is, even with the large crowds, the rides had short waits. 5-20 minutes for most everything. The bad thing is, all the "special" events were sooo crowded that you couldn't enjoy them, and that was what we really came on Halloween for.

On Halloween the trick-or-treat lines were long, I'm talking 400 people long. We waited until the end of the night and it a few. The photo lines were long up until 11-11:30. The other thing. On Halloween, the park DID NOT empty after the first parade, nor was the 2nd parade any less crowded. I think it was the combo of Halloween itself, a Friday night, and it being a sell out. So if you're going this night, some of the general tips still may not work. The last thing-- it was really humid all night, keep that in mind when picking out costumes. And the mosquito's were out in full force. Lots and Lots of bug spray.

I've (thankfully) never had to deal with mosquitos, so I've never taken bug spray. Can you get it in the park if you wind up needing it?

hi:wave:
kilee,thanks i will do a search for this thread::yes::
we will hopefully be doing this somewhere between 10/12-10/24

This is so funny! Last year my DD, 4 y/o at the time, was also at Chef Mickey's in her Minnie costume. We always go to CM before MNSSHP because the character interaction is such fun. I am surprised though that you didn't see manyh dressed up there. There were lots of kids dressed up the night we were there. I can't wait to go again this year. Did you notice all the Minnies in the park? Minnie was a popular costume last year. It looked like invasion of the Minnies at MK!:earsgirl:

I would go on Tuesday. We always go on a weekday. Avoid any weekend and you will be fine.

hi all:wave:
i have just one more little question:teeth: when you go to this event do you just ride the rides?or just walk around and take in the atmosphere whilst doing the trick or treating and the parades?or do you do a bit of both?
we will be doing mnsshp just the one night and we are not sure what would work out the best:rolleyes:

thanks eve::MinnieMo

Tigger we done both, but time does fly!! Space mountain was great as all the lights were out, there will be more than enough to do/see if you decide against the rides though. You will be totallt "blown away" at the effort WDW goes to,just can't imagine any place in UK going to so much trouble!!
In answer to the question on the last page-the majority of kids were in costume as well as a large number of adults, whatever the costume comfortable shoes are a must! ONE lady who did stand out on our night had one of those inflatable Sumo suits on-must have been very warm!!
SD:teeth:

hi sd:wave:

thanks for that,i suppose we could ride a few rides while it is early and then just relax and take in the rest of the evening at a more slower pace and just enjoy:tongue:

As for how you spend your evening, I would suggest taking all our advice and using it as a guide, and then do what looks like fun when you're there!

At MNSSHP, I would try to do the things that you can't do on a regular day at MK.

The parade & the fireworks are different at MNSSHP.

Haunted Mansion is especially enjoyable on Halloween.

Its not decorated for Halloween, but I really enjoy the Jungle Cruise at night.

I wouldn't discourage you from making a PS before the party, but we thought it was so cool spending time in Fantasyland while it was nearly empty between 5pm and 6pm, before we were directed to Tomorrowland while the park was decorated for the party.

"Taking in the atmosphere", the decorations, the music, the costumes... is one of the best things about MNSSHP. WDW offers some of the best people watching in the world! I would recommend taking time to enjoy it all.

Last year on Halloween, 10/31, we found that it was VERY crowded, difficult to walk, in Mickey's ToonTown, but didn't have a problem with crowds anywhere else.

The longest candy line we found, outside of ToonTown, was 20-25 people at the most. A few posts ago, Kilee described a much different experience on the same night, so I really think it can make a big difference where you are at what times!

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in.

We went to MNSSHP last year on October 19. It was wonderful.

We did dinner at O'hanna and then changed DS3 & DD7 into their costumes- Buzz and Ashanti (from Jungle Book 2). We got our picture made soon after we got there, line wasn't too long and moved quickly. We all got bags and got candy, those lines also weren't long and moved quickly. We looked around and rode rides. The Haunted Riverboat was cool. Thanks to this board, I knew to look for the Headless Horseman. We ended up in Toontown around closing time. The kids got their faces painted (for free!) and got to see Mickey as a surprise (we didn't tell them what they were in line for). We stayed until closing; the next day was a rest day, so we could stay up late.

There is a chance we could end up going back this year w/ my parents who have never been before! I am keeping my fingers crossed!!:sunny:

hi:wave: welovedisneyx4
thank you for telling us how your time was at mnsshp::yes:: it's lovely to see that people have a great time at this event i love reading about it:D

manchurianbrownbear:wave:
thank you,i'm sure we'll love it:D

DH and I did MNSSHP on 10/30/03. We had a BLAST! I love Halloween, and DH really got into it too.

1st - Check your tickets when they arrive. I bought mine over the phone the day the went on sale and never checked them before our night at the party. When we got to the gate, our tickets didn't work. They were for HALLOWEEN NIGHT! We went to guest services and they issued us new tickets for that night.

2nd - We went right to Fantasyland and did everything we wanted in no time at all. I think we even did Mickey's Philharmagic two times. After we finished in Fantasyland, we noticed the crowds there were insane.

3rd - Do not miss the Haunted Mansion. I got the heck scared out of my by a CM (and was scared for about an hour after), but it was an experience I will never forget.

4th - Don't miss the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the headless horseman. We had a seat right by the bell in Liberty Square and had a great seat for the parade.

Have a blast and enjoy your trip!::MinnieMo
