SOOO FUNNY!!

To us THAT is the key to a fun MNSSHP, forget the rides ( well ok MUST do the HM!), enjoy the party, all the characters as there were PLENTY of meet and great around the park that night, not to mention all the baddies that are never around Disney. AWESOME fireworks, parade, have FUN!

Some of the MANY baddies out..............

Thanks to you Both! Great pics!

I'm not sure what I'm MORE excited about - WDW in general or, MNSSHP?!?!?

:cool1:

Love the Carl and Russell photos!!!! That is so awesome! What wonderful interaction between you guys and the "real" characters. Your costumes were to die for!!! :worship:

Where were the dwarfs (which park, what part of the park, etc.)? Do you know what time they arrive?

THE Dwarfs where in Magic Kingdom across from the tea cups they come out at 7 .30 first time get in line just around 7 as line gets big.:cool1::cool1:

We are going to WDW JUST for two nights JUST to go to MNSSHP!! We love it! How early can we get in? I forgot.

If you just have the MNSSHP tickets and not regular park tickets, you can pick up your MNSSHP bracelets and enter the park starting at 4pm.

Is it possible to get in if you have an ADR before 4 IF you don't have the day pass. There is a Tony's opening before 4.

From what I understand, the 4pm rule is pretty hard and fast. Maybe someone else knows for sure?

I had written a LOONNNGGG account and suggestions from my MNSSHP last night and it didn't send ... arrgggghhh ... I'll cut it up into smaller pieces and hope I am as witty as I was the first time around. ;)

Last night was my 50+ birthday (dark side of 50, boys and girls) and I have to say going to the MNSSHP made it one of the best birthdays I've had. So, here are some tips and suggestions:

Costumes: Wear one. You'll have a better time, trust me.

It is still Africa-hot and humid here. Think through your costume wisely. We were dressed as waitresses from Merlotte's restaurant (Thank you, True Blood!) Easy and cool -- t-shirts with logo, shorts, tennis shoes, waitress aprons, bloody vampire bites covered with round band-aids (and I'd made some business cards to pass out to people who "got" the costume). Even with this we were sweltering hot.

Tights, heavy costumes, etc. must have been unbearable. We saw gorgeous costumes (Haunted Mansion Ghosts, a woman in an inflatable flamingo, etc.) and couldn't imagine how hot they were.

Also ... ladies ... consider your shoe choice. Saw a beautiful Marilyn Monroe in a white dress and massively high heels. We cringed every time we saw her, especiallly as the night wore and and you could tell how much pain she was in.

One of our favorite costumes were two ... um. .... stately men dressed as Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum .. yellow t-shirts, big bow ties, baseball caps. Wonderful!!

Hydrate: Since it's so hot, make sure you have enough water and drinks throughout the night. Even in our light costumes, we sweat more than it was ladylike or pretty. :rotfl2:

Go in with a game plan, but be flexible: Our mission isn't about the rides (though we took advantage for the A/C!) I could ride rides every night on my way home from work. Somehow, we still got on the wrong side of the parade and couldn't cross where we wanted. So we stopped and enjoyed the parade!

Read the maps -- some of the candy stops have changed. One of our "usuals" at the Columbia Harbor house was no longer there. And the one at the Pirata & Perico had a different entrance and exit.

More to come (don't want to have to re-type this!)

We got small Mickey rulers in Toon Town. There are also raisins all over the place. Honestly, I don't know how you could give it to the CM to give her without her noticing. You would be better off just sneaking it into her bag yourself when she's not looking.

I wouldn't think that would be any problem ... you'll just have to stay a few steps ahead of your child! We have given to things to characters and cast members to "give" to our DD as a surprise gift. We've never had any problems.

Is it possible to get in if you have an ADR before 4 IF you don't have the day pass. There is a Tony's opening before 4.

Absolutely not ... The CM's don't have to let you in until 7 p.m. They only let party guests in at 4 p.m. so the gates aren't slammed by thousands of guests at 7 p.m. 4:00 p.m. on the dot and not a second earlier!

I love your costume choice!!!!!!!!!I wish I had the figure for it - and not for two or three of them (waitresses that is)! Love that show. We are going on Oct25 or 27th and I hope the weather is cooler! Looking forward to reading more of your review!

Second section of my 9/25 hints and comments about MNSSHP:

Interact: Interact with your fellow party-goers. If you see a costume you really like tell them. Also, if you'd like to take a picture most people are more than happy to pose for you. You'll see a lot of gorgeous little princesses and pirates and you can tell these kids are having the time of their life. Call them by their character name, feign fright at the super heroes. They love it and you'll feel great about it, tool

We ran into two other young waitresses from Merlotte's last night and much screaming, hugging and "character talk" took place -- we were happy to find some sisters in the crowd and sorry we won't be able to run with you Tuesday night! We also kept running into a group that "recognized us" and would quote show lines back and forth with us -- that's insane fun!

At around 11:15 last night I sat on a bench across from a mature man in a black King's outfit, complete with a gorgeous crown. The King and I decided that we were all in and the night was over.

Interact with the costumed CM's. We had a lovely conversation with the Southern belle ghost at the Haunted Mansion, discussing the merits of gin and mint juleps. :lmao:

And lastly (and maybe most importantly): Interact with the CM's that are at the candy stops. Say "Trick or treat," "Hello," "Please," "Happy Halloween!" and especially "Thank you!" All the CMs we saw last night were in great moods -- and imagine what your poor back would feel like standing that post for hours bending and bending and bending. Ow!

LOVED THIS! Carl is my new hero (after my hubby ) -- I just bought DH a Carl t-shirt at a local Disney store.

Does anyone know if Disney also has the younger Carl with Ellie at the parks?

As for us, when we go to MNSSHP: we're wearing custom made t-shirts, complete with dancing skeletons, that announce our celebrating our not-so-scary 32 wedding anniversary.

We gave each other a trip to WDW for our 30th anniversary (to honor our honeymoon there in 1977), and after two years, we're finally going!

If anyone is there on Oct 2 and you see us, be sure to say hi!

Anyway, the point here is that we're following the advice from an earlier thread (thank you to swandiverpatt who posted the tips -- great posts), and we're dressing cool and comfortable.

Thank you for the tips; this gets us so excited for our trip. Talking to cast members and characters has to be one of my favorite things to do. It creates some funny stories and great memories.

GREAT posts!

I agree, there's nothing like interacting with others in WDW, and you're right, the kids love it when you talk to them in their character. This type of interaction is one of my favorite things about going to WDW. MNSSHP will be an especially fun place to interact since everyone is so geared up for a party.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one 50+ from another. Party on!

Well then, I guess it's a good thing we're staying at AKL next week. The heat and humidity will REALLY make us feel as though we're in Africa.
