MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Thanks for all the wonderful discussion and tips for the Halloween Party. We got our tickets months ago and are going Oct. 18th on Sunday night. We have our costumes ready and all 4 adults. But we become big kids who love candy and fun at the party!
Can't wait!

Thank you! LOVED my shopping preview!!!!!! I am a souvenir addict! I realized I already owned half the merchandise! How sad is that! Saw some must haves for this time though!!!!!

Thanks for posting the video. My ds and I just watched it twice! The second time stopping on each frame. We are very excited and it was fun to see a video of all the merchandise. :goodvibes

this might have been asked already, any reason as to why they dont have the event on saturday nights? was looking forward to making this my first year going, but with work it's impossible to go on a weeknight

HI! We attended MNSSHP on 9/18 and it was so much fun! We did Wishes Dessert Party the same night and we thought it was a great way to recharge during the HP. We stayed in the park until 12 midnight.

We rode rides from the time we entered (4pm) then got our faces painted in toontown and headed to tomorrowland to ride more rides and dance at the dance party + candy lines then we headed to Wishes Dessert Party. We could see the Villian Show (from left side of the terrace) and the fireworks (great) from our table. We watched the 2nd parade in front of Liberty Tree Tavern. It was a blast....check out my TR (see link below). We left for a 7 night cruise the next day and had a BLAST!

OK for those who have went this year.....are the strollers still given out free to MNSSHP ticket holders? When we went in 2007 you got a stroller complimentary....is that still the case???

Couple of questions:

Is Toontown the only place to get your face painted?

If the dwarves are my only "must get a pic with" characters, when should we get in line for them? We are planning to stay until midnight. We'd like to see others, but have to see the 7 little men!!:cloud9:

Me and 10 of my family members are doing MNSSHP on October 31st 2009.
My little cousin is doing BBB that night too but there was no time before 6:40 and it is the one in DTD. We booked it but will they let us in when we our done. The 4 that are going to be with my little cousin will have their tickets. I dont know if its like an EMH where you can't enter after a certain time.
TIA.

Great pics - what stores were these taken from?
And were they during the MNSHHP or just around the world?
We're trying to plan where to swing by for the "good stuff"
:)

Thanks for the pictures! We've already got our shopping list ready for our MNSSHP on Oct. 8. I also just read that the Main Street Bakery is closed until Oct. 6. Whew, just made it!

We've done BBB at DTD. It has been our experience that the later in the day your appointment, the greater the chances that they'll be backed up and won't get to you on time. As long as you have your MNSSHP tickets, they will let you in anytime after 4 p.m. You don't have to be there by the official beginning of the party at 7 p.m.

You didn't ask for advice, but a trip to BBB at DTD will take some time. You probably won't be done until 8 p.m. If you booked the more expensive package, it will take even longer. Add in a drive to Magic Kingdom, getting from the parking lot to the TTT and taking the monorail/ferry to the MK, you probably won't enter the gates until 9 p.m. at the earliest (and you're going on 10/31, it's sold out already so the parking lot will be full). That gives your group about 3 hours at most to enjoy the party. Is it worth it? That's up to you.

We'll be staying at Pop Century. If we want to get there by 4:00, how much time should we allow to drive from Pop and be there by then? 45 minutes?

Does anyone have suggestions for where to be on the parade route to get great photos? Where would the best lighting be?

We sat in Tomorrowland with our backs facing Tom Sawyer's Island. I think that we were almost across from the Frontier Trading Post (pin-trading store) and near one of the walkways towards BTMRR. There was great lighting at that spot and I was able to get some fantastic shots! You will have to sit on the ground, but we really didn't mind that part at all.

Sounds about right, although it is my experience that catching the MK bus at Pop will save you some time. If you drive, you must park, walk or take a tram to the TTC and then ride the monorail/ferry to the MK. A Disney bus drops you off at the MK entrance. We love riding the monorail, though. Even though we've visited MK well over a dozen times as a family, it's still exciting to catch that first glimpse of Cinderella Castle from the monorail and see the excitement of children as they see the MK for the very first time.

Since no one seemed to have the answer to the free stroller question...called Disney and yes the strollers are complimentary for MNSSHP ticket holders!!

That's great but just so you know, they were free for years and then they took that free perk away last year so there is a chance that the CM on the phone was incorrect.

Hopefully, they were right and this perk has been brought back. :thumbsup2

Going on Oct 25th. Throwing around the idea that I've read in this post about just going with Halloween themed shirts. We are from the northern midwest and heat just about kills us. And by heat....this year I mean......80. :lmao:

So, instead of costumes on us and 4 kids......the cooler option is under consideration.

Any thoughts?

How will the kids feel if other kids are more dressed-up than they are? What are their ages and attitudes?

I have a friend who decided to dress her kids in very lightweight outfits instead of a costume -- two girls ages 4 and 6. She either dressed them in Halloween PJs or Halloween t-shirts with PJ shorts or cotton pants, not sure which, but I think it was full PJs, and they loved it. I remember she told me that she let them pick their outfits out, which helped.

SHE loved it because she didn't have to undress the kids when they returned "home" to AKL. They were already wearing their PJs!

I'm not sure if they did the free face painting, I'd have to check. I know they did the face painting in the past.

This is the second yr in a row that my DD's (9 & 5) are just wearing MNSSHP shirts I made and they are happy in those. They say the costumes get in there way getting on the rides(especially princess attire) and they are more comfy in them..... and I just let them wear them to bed. Ask them see how they feel...
