MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Hi All- Just writing back to say sorry I was definitely not trying to change the mood of the thread. I checked with Disney and the cm said that you need a ticket for the party to attend an MNSSHP dessert party. I got ahead of myself after reading another thread. Looking forward to reviews of the first party.

Momsworld- I have a pirate costume that my son wore 2x last year that should fit your 4 year old. It will sit in the closet until I decide to throw it out. You can just have it. Let me make sure it is still in his closet but pm me if you are interested. I will check buy costumes dot com to see if they are selling it again this year so you can see it first. We dressed like pirates on our Disney cruise, I wore black capris, white shirt with a leather belt, pirate jewelry and a bandana. The capris and shirt I can wear again each summer.

Yep, I had to do this already. I guess because of the design of the ticket purchase page (line after line of drop down boxes), I accidentally chose 10/6 instead of the intended 10/2. Since 10/2 is my niece's birthday, and a weekend instead of a weeknight, I really needed 10/2. I did have to play the concerned uncle and tell my mother that "of course" we couldn't take my niece out of school just because I made a mistake buying the tickets for a weeknight - the whole time thinking "I'd totally take her out of school for that".

I called the day after I bought the tickets online, and they changed them without a problem. I bought the wrong ones on a Sunday night, and had the fixed tickets in the mailbox the following Saturday.

That's wonderful!

Not sure if im posting this on the right thread but any advice on inexpensive pirate costumes for a group of 7. I'm the only female, kids are 4,11, and 16 rest are adults. I'd love to see pictures of anyones costumes who has gone recently. Does anyone sell their old costumes?

I don't have pictures but take black pants, capris shorts anything maybe old that you don't care it you cut. Cut them into jagged longs shorts.
All of you wear white shirts... t-shirts , old dress shirts cut to look as though you've gone over board etc. And get red scarves, or get material from a fabric store, to tie around your wiast like a belt.
Bandanas, Eye patches, and Pirate hats can be found at Dollar store.
As long as you all kind of do the same thing it will have big impact.
Like the other poster said let the men not shave for a few days for that rugged look .

Oh yah a plastic Parrot pinned to the shoulder looks cute too!

Have Fun!!

Welcome to the club! You'll fit right in here. :grouphug:

:wave2: Thank you! I already feel like I do. :cloud9:

I'd love to get some photos of the MK entrance after dark with the smoke and special lighting. However, we're planning to arrive at 4. Will those effects continue throughout the entire night? We love to "close the place," so I'm sure we'll be leaving well after midnight... ;)

Did the party last year and going again on Sept 15th . The smoke and special effects last all night. When we were leaving last year I remember lots of dry ice type smoke around things just for effect. If your going to do a photo pass don't miss all the photographers placed in all the right places for effect.

Have Fun!

:woohoo: Thank you so much! I swear, I get more excited about this party with every new post I read!

For those in the Boston area, just an FYI - the Disney Store in the South Shore Plaza has the $2.50 Halloween bags out now. There were quite a few, and they're still there - my all-too-practical daughter wouldn't let me buy them! :lmao:

A little further out in the Boston 'burbs . . . Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua had them this afternoon . . . they had quite a lot, too!

This will be our 1st time going to the MNSSHP. If this question has already been asked I am sorry but I wanted to know does the party still go on if it rains or if there is bad weather. Thanks in Advance

Rain or shine! I think someone said there may be cancellations due to hurricane-like conditions.

I've only been to MVMCP, but I'm sure the rules are the same for both parties. The party will take place, rain or shine. However, the parade/fireworks may be delayed in the event of inclement weather. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst (read: bring ponchos). That's what I do! :thumbsup2

I have been to the party two times before, the last was last year in early September, and LOVED it (can't wait to go at LEAST once this next trip...haven't convinced my husband that we'll need to go both on Tuesday and Friday!!

Our favorite parts were definitely the "Boo to You" parade (you can catch it on you tube), the SHORT ride waits especially near the end of the night (walked on Dumbo), and the whole Halloween theme and characters...

I haven't read all the posts, so I am not sure if anyone mentioned that not all the regular food options are available during the party. For instance, we wanted to do Columbia Harbor House for counter service dinner and they were closed. We then went to Cosmic Rays - they were open, but not all food items were available...namely the ones that I wanted which were not comprised of meat! A little frustrating, but I am more prepared this year...

If you are on the edge of going or not - I totally recommend going - very magical and unique experience!!

Did the party last year and going again on Sept 15th .

We'll be there on that night too!

FYI to all you bargain shoppers...I'm going to Target this week! Their Halloween T-Shirts are on sale for between $5 and $10! There's a "lime green" one with glow in the dark ghosts on it that I have my eye on! :thumbsup2

Oh thank you!!! That's been the plan for myself, get a Halloween t-shirt at Target. :woohoo: I also want to go to the party stores and see if I can get some glow necklaces so I look a little more festive at the party.

That is also part of my plan! I'm pooh sized so I definitely don't want to lug a costume around on me all night...I plan to dress comfy yet festive!

We're going down for Labor Day weekend and I had honestly forgotten all about MNSSHP until I read that the Halloween decorations were up! DUH! I was wondering why MK was closing at 7pm on a Friday! :rotfl2:

We've been talking about it all day, and I think we're going to bite the bullet and buy tickets. We at least get the discounted AP tickets since it's not a prime weekend.

We really want to see the parade, and since we're only down for 3 nights we figure we may as well get in as much ride time as possible!

YAY, I'm excited!

Looking for MNSSHP touring plan ....w/ Wishes Dessert Party included? Found one posted that was great but it was geared more towards adult rides...we have a 5 and 7 yr old. TIA :goodvibes
