MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

OMG you guys look AMAZING! Disney should hire you seasonally...people would LOVE to have their pictures taken with you guys! I know I would! :thumbsup2

I cannot wait. This will be our 4th year doing ghosts from the Haunted Mansion at MNSSHP. We are 6 adults, no kids. This is our favorite time of the year to head down to Disney!

We will be attending two parties this year. We will go in costume on Sept 29th and not in costume on Oct 1st

Here is a picture of us from 2007 - Disney actually asked if they could take our pictures in the studio. It has, by far, been the best 'free' souvenier we have ever recieved!

Any ticket booth. We took our confirmation to the booth at the International Gateway on our way out of Epcot (back to YC) a few hours before MVMCP in December.

Has this been mentioned?

Bring small flashlights!
It's very dark in the park and I used mine for map-reading and illuminating the pathways for my elderly mother.

When we go again in October with the grandkids, I will make sure they have glow necklaces so I can keep track of them. Or maybe light-up Mickey ears?

Hi! We're going to our first MNSSHP on Oct 8th and I currently have a Tony's ADR for 5:40 but was wondering if that was too late...heard I should get in line for something (carriage pics or snow white, etc) around 6:30. Checking things out just now I was able to get a 4:25 ADR for Liberty Tree, however, the reviews for LTT for dinner are not too great. Although, they're 50/50 for Tony's, too.

Any suggestions on which to keep? My gut says LTT so we can be out and about around 5:30 instead of close to 7pm.

Thanks!

YAY!!!! I know its cutting it close, but we are doing the Pirates League at 6:25 on 9/11 right before the party!! I figure that yes the party starts at 7, but they've said the whole thing only takes about 30 mins anyways.... All 4 of us that can are gonna do it!! I can't wait!:cool1::yay::dance3:

Do not get in a long line for candy. In some places the CM is really obvious and in a square so the line gets huge and people get pushy. Look for the CMs in the less obvious and busy places. They're mroe happy to see you, too, and more likely to give more candy. We dound Adventureland and Frontierland best for that. People crowd Fantasyland and Tomorrowland but Advetureland and the back of Frontierland are pretty quiet. POTC was dead but fun to ride on Halloween.

Also, enjoy the hidden gems: the ghouls in front of HM are awesome and if they tease you, zing 'em back. Dh did that and they loved it. LOL If you have little ones, do the Fantasyland dance party. They'll love seeing characters that close and in costume and the characters were good at interacting witht he kids. Do the trick-or-treat trail for lots of pics. Last year it was Alice in Wonderland characters, including the Queen of Hearts. Do not miss Hallowishes....awesome fireworks. Don't try to figure out which CM has the best candy: they all have a mix of stuff like your kids would get if they were trick-or-treating. The 'good stuff' (Ghirardelli squares) were handed out by the CMs @ the exits as you left (but they gave handfuls!)

Dress as a group costume to get noticed and the more unique the better. This was the best thing we did. Dh came up with a unique but Disney group costume theme. I made them. We literally felt like stars....so many people asked to take pics with us, the CMs were yelling at us to come get candy from them, and the CMs at TTC gave us a standing ovation. It made the party for us!

We had a great time. Hope you do, too!

Um, hello?! Pictures please! You can't just leave us hanging and not tell us what the costumes were and also not post pictures! :lmao:

Those costumes are amazing! I just want to know how you survived the heat!

I plan to make my wife read this thread on the drive down in a few weeks -- our MNSSHP will be our first night there, and we've never been before, so this should be a good "primer." :)

Are you going to sneak to a Disney Store and get a Halloween bag too. You know she'll want one if she reads this thread :rotfl:

I need advice from you experts.... I don't know if a thread like this will be going when the MNSSHP tickets go on sale next May(ish) so I am hoping you all don't mind if I ask a "what would you do question." I am a big pre-planner, so much that I am now making my ressies for Oct. 27 - Nov. 6, 2010. I noticed that this year the parties around Halloween are Thursday (Oct. 29), Saturday (Oct. 31), and Sunday (Nov. 1) nights. I am just doing a BIG guesstamite and say what if the parties are on the same nights next year Thurs. (Oct.28), Saturday (Oct. 30), and Sunday (Oct. 31). I could probably guess on my own that the 31st will be crazy since it could be the last night of the event ;). Since those might be the only options we have to attend the party, what night would you all "guess" it would be best to go to? After reading this thread, I am COMPLETELY geeked :woohoo: and my trip next year just won't come fast enough!!! That's okay... all of you can call me nuts  - I don't mind ! I will be marking my calendar for the exact day those tickets go on sale to get what I want just so I have the tickets!
