MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Yes you can go to epcot and then to the MNSSHP (if you have tix for MNSSHP). It does not require park admission in addition, but you won't be able to get into MK until the start of the party. :hippie:
Actually, you should be able to get into the party with just the party ticket at about 4; the party doesn't start until 7.

We plan on riding a fair amount of rides that night...so for people who get candy and go on the rides, do you just put your candy bag in the bag holder on the ride? Just wondering....I think that for BTMR the candy might come out of the bag? That's one that we'd like to ride at night (for those who haven't, it's quite a different experience when it's dark.)

Also, I have a question about entry....so when you enter the park after 4:00, you take your ticket to the regular entry area and then??? Do you put it into the machine and then they slap a wristband on you or what? Just curious & wondering how long the entry process will take.
We've never had a problem taking our bags of candy on the rides with us.

When you enter you scan your ticket just like a regular ticket, and you get it back. When we have gone there have always been CMs right on the other side of the MNSSHP designated turnstiles putting on the wristbands as soon as you enter.

My son's brithday is on the 29th and we are doing the MNSSHP. I have tried to book the Plaza or CP but they are booked between 4 and 7pm. There was one res left at 3:35pm but there's no way they will let me in with MNSSHP tickets if I have a reservation, eh? So is there anywhere else you could recommend within the park? Thanks in adance!
No, you won't be able to get in that early without using a day off your MYW tickets. If you're looking for an ADR I'd try for something 6:00 or earlier, otherwise you'll miss part of the party with a 7:00 ADR. If you're getting in on your MNSSHP ticket only then you need something between 4:00 and 6:00, basically.

Choices of TS are: Liberty Tree Tavern (no longer a character meal, which is disappointing, but if you're just looking for food it's an option), CRT (2 credits on the DDP), Crystal Palace (which you already tried for), The Plaza (which you already tried for), and Tony's Town Square (italian).

You might also consider trying for something just outside the park at one of the MK area resorts. I'd make the ADR for about an hour and a half earlier than you'd like to be at the party. So if you want to be getting into the MK around 6:00 then look for an ADR for around 4:00-4:30. That will really open up your options!

The monorail resorts: Contemporary -- Chef Mickey's, The Wave, California Grill (2 DDP credits); Polynesian -- Kona Cafe, 'Ohana; Grand Floridian -- GF Cafe, Citrico's (2 DDP credits), Narcoossee's (2 DDP credits), 1900 Park Fare.

A boat ride away: Wilderness Lodge -- Artist Point (2 DDP credits), Whispering Canyon Cafe; Fort Wilderness -- Trail's End buffet.

On the disney visa rewards site they say they are going to have a costume preview party for Cardmembers on August 22. Maybe they will put out all there holloween bags that day. I hope so because I really want one or two of those bags before I leave on the 25

I couldn't find anything on the Disney Visa site, could you tell me a little more about this? Is this an online thing or at the Disney stores? :confused3 I'd love to see what's coming out for this season.

Hi,
too funny! I took a guess that you would be there on the 15th since our countdowns are similar. I will keep an eye out for you for sure! I'm going just dressed as "me"! lol.. Usually I will wear a halloween t-shirt and that's about as far as I go. Me and a friend go to disney each year for a few days in sept w/out the husbands or the kids. It's my favorite trip I take! Lol!

DD just awoke from her slumber..after all it is noon!:rolleyes1 I asked her what style they were and she said they were the "old" style.. they were red robes and each person had a number on the back and a last name. I only saw the back on the one with "weasly" on it. DD said they were homemade but they did a good job with it. You just could not believe some of the outfits at the premiere! It was worth staying up that late just to see them all!

I bet the outfits were awesome there. I saw the midnight showing at a theater in downtown Columbus and there was a really good Bellatrix, plus a lot of people in the school uniforms.

Now I am kinda nervous if your going to be looking for us to have a picture, these costumes better turn out good.

ha ha... no pressure! lol.. you're on vacation! just wanted to warn you if some strange lady walks up to you and asks if you are ohiostatebuckeye and says she's "addicted2dizney" on the disboards! :lmao: I'm sure however they come out will be amazing and most of all you will have a great time at that party! I can't even sew a button on a shirt properly so I'm not one to judge!:goodvibes

I remember seeing a list of rides that will be open during the MNSSHP, but what about a list of rides that WONT be open. Thinking that if I had a list of those rides, we could try to fit them in sometime between 4 -5? Can anyone help compile a list? Thanks.

I really can't remember what was closed.. other than swiss family treehouse and maybe carousel of progress?? All of the major attractions will be open, if there is anything that would be closed it would be less popular attractions or attractions that have virtually no lines on crowded days.

Here is a tentative list of rides NOT open during MNSSHP based on 2008
- Carousel of Progress
- Jungle Cruise
- Hall of Presidents ???
- WDW Railroad
- Space Mountain (Closed till Sept. 19 for repairs)
- Country Bear Jamboree
- Bibidi ****iddi Boutique (Is this a ride???)
-Both Minnie & Mickey's Country Homes
- Toontown Hall of Fame Tent

OMG ~ is Space Mountain REALLY opening in September??? Everything I have seen says it doesn't reopen until November!!

Jungel cruise,I would think that would be open for Hallooween time?

OMG - this is so incredibly helpful! We are doing the September 4th Party. I haven't told my girls yet - they will be so totally excited! I bought them each full costumes at the disney store and am wrapping it up for them to give them the day of the party with the tickets. my oldest will be Hannah Montana and my little one will be a HSM cheerleader. I'm still debating if I will dress up or not...
Thanks again for the tips!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a place to get make overs in the castle

Both Minnie and Mickey's houses were OPEN for the parties in the past. Are you sure they are now closed?

Do anyone have any idea of the temperatures to expect? We are going on September 4th and I am a bit concerned about the temperatures and humidity making our costumes too hot.

Do you think a pirate costume with long pants and a velvet jacket would be too warm? pirate:

Thanks,
Rasmus.

We went last year, beginning of September ( flew down 9/10 I think) and Mickey and Minnie house WAS open. The Mickey and Minnie characters were standing in the gazeebo for pictures. While we waited for no rides ( Even Haunted Mansion) we did have a 40 minute wait to see the princesses and their princes in the tent. There was a long line to see Mickey and Minnie in costume. There was no wait (well maybe 5 minutes) for the carriage picture, and the "special" picture in front of the HM.

I think anything velvet would be too hot. I had on a tee shirt and full length gauzy skirt and had sweat running down my back....but was not miserable. My DD had on a peasant top and skirt with a pettieskirt and was happy all night long. This year I am probably wearing the same skirt, and a tee again. She is just wearing a dress decorated with characters.

September is HOT! I've been there the last few years in July and Sept was by far hotter than July! I would have a back up plan because that sounds like a hot, heavy costume. Hope it all works out for you. :)

I was surprised at the last P & P party 6/08 that the Jungle Cruise wasn't open.....

Loving all the tipsand tricks here! Extremely useful, and also helping to get me in to the party mood :goodvibes:woohoo::dance3::cheer2:

I just wanted to ask one thing of all you wonderfully, lovely, kind people. I hope this doesn't start a big debate (I really like this thread, and don't want to get it shut down), but if you are changing in to your costume in the park, please can you use the regular sized cubicles if that's feasible, and leave the larger one free for those of us in wheelchairs? As I said, I really don't want to start any arguments here, and I understand that some people need to use the larger cubicle with grab rails, without a wheelchair; just if you can, I would be extremely greatful if you'd use one of the regular ones. I just know that I can get cranky when I need to pee :rotfl: Thank you!!!!!!

I'm still debating what to wear as my costume (we've not got the tickets booked yet, but I'm pretty certain we're going!). Whatever I decide to go as, I've already got my outdoor fairy lights to go on my wheelchair!! :yay:

Not flaming... only bumping this suggestion in hopes more will see it. It really doesn't apply to me either way since no one in my party is in need of a the kind of restroom in question nor do I need to change into a costume but I could only imagine being able to use one kind of restroom and have it occupied by a parent and 2 kids chaging for 20 minutes.

Howdy Lacrosse lady!

I agree on this point! We do a lot of chostume changes, but my daughter always wears shorts and a tank top underneath so she can change anywhere.

Hello!!!

Yep, I know how that works :) A lot of our lacrosse games in HS were at 4-4:30PM when school got out at 3:30 so we had to do a lot of changing in parking lots so we all learned how to change in public without showing anything.

We do the same thing! :goodvibes
