We will be going to Mickeys Not so Scarey Halloween party at beginning of October, this will be our first time at this party.. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on must see's.

Also does everyone get trick or treat bags? Where do you get these from?

Hi

Well first off its a really good night. Trick or Treat bags are handed out when you enter the park at the same time you get your party wrist band. The maps tell you all of the locations that you can trick or treat. We got loads of stuff last year. Most people say that the best time to go is at the end of the night as most people have headed home so they hand out more. We just wondered around the park people watching and then watching the parade which is a must to see from the start as the headless horse man is awesome. The trick or treat lines or long but do move quickly.

Try to get there early and if possible get a dinner reservation either in the park or a nearby resort.

If you want the best experience of the fire works try to get into the hub as the effect of the 360 fireworks is most effective when you are in the middle of it.

MNSSHP is AMAZING! Went last year, if i can ever afford to go back i hope its at the time of year for MNSSHP.

We arrived at the park for 4pm as opposed to when the party starts (7pm). We didn't have to queue to get in and get party wristbands etc and we could get plenty of fun photos in the prime spots (entrance with all decorations, castle etc) as we arrived fresh faced and not sweaty like when we went for the full day.

I would suggest doing things you can't normally do..i.e the trick or treating, dance parties etc...Not so much the rides, although these have no queues.

Definately go to the trick or treat spot on entrance to Adventureland (just over the bridge from the hub)..it has loads of characters and most people seem to miss it so it wasnt busy at all.

If your on a candy mission...Take your own halloween trick/treating bags. We got some cool disney ones from Walmart. And go down the Madhatter route from Toontown to Tomorrowland..theres loads of cast members giving out candy.

We saw the parade as it came out at Frontierland and this seemed like a great spot to see it from. And MAKE SURE YOU DON'T MISS THE FIREWORKS....Best i've ever seen in my life, Incredible. If you think Wishes is amazing you will love these even more.

Have fun, i'm soooo jealous.

We also got there at 4 as we had a reservation at Pirates League for 4.30pm.
We took our own treat bags but, to be honest, we never spent a lot of time queueing for the candy. Once we had gone through a few of the stations we realised that we had more than we could eat so we started to bypass them.
This gave us more time to get some pics and autographs of the characters in their costumes - and don't forget that Halloween is one of the only times of the year that you can get a picture with all of the 7 dwarfs.
At the time of the month you are planning on going I would suspect that anywhere you stand on the parade route would give you a good view of the parade as it won't be packed to capacity.
And finally look out for the Photopass photographers as you can get some really cool effects that they only do at MNSSHP - epsecially near the Haunted mansion, and Cinderellas coach near IASW.
For an example of what they do see the link below - taken from our trip report from last year. The MNSSHP from our photopass CD are on page 13.

All my tips have been covered by PP except......DRESS UP !!!

You will have a great time.

We went last September and it was our first time, it was a Fab night and I would definately reccomend it.

We all dressed up as dalmations and this was the best thing we did. Cruella came and talked to us during the parade and we had great interaction in the villans mix and mingle.

We got lots of treats, but ended up leaving bags full when we packed to fly home.

One thing we didn't do, because I didn't want to queue and now regret it, was to have a photo by Cinderellas Carriage.....something on next years list!!!!

I recomend seeing the second parade (they have two, the same, every night) as it's alot quieter.

Although it's not published, guests may be able to enter the MK at 4pm using their MNSSHP ticket. This has been the case for many years, but it is a perk that WDW could remove at any time. ;)

The party officially runs from 7pm to midnight.

There are 2 parades shown so ride the rides during the first, hit the second one when it's noticably quieter (a lot of people with wee kiddies clear out after the fireworks).

Get candy, lots of candy. We got an embarassingly large amount last time between just the 2 of us, in fact, we brought most of it all home and that ended up being my holiday gift for the people I work with!

Aside from that, relax, have fun, enjoy the atmosphere which is more 'fun' than the xmas party imo due to all the costumes and people just generally larking about.

Oh, now that's an idea - last year we just left it for Mouse Keeping :D I would take your own candy bag, *** you can bring a bigger one and get more stuff! We don't tend to like a lot of the stuff they put in the bags (we're not big sweet eaters), so regularly go to stops to increase our chances of goodies we like!

The Mad Hatters trail, which we only found this last year, is definitely one to go on. Candy, candy everywhere, and a few surprises along the way!

Photo wise, make sure you visit the PP people down by the steamboat, as well as over by Haunted Mansion. There is also Cinderella's carriage which is kitted out with pumpkins and stuff - gorgeous and worth a photo.

Do the second parade if you can, because it's usually much quieter and you can get a better viewing point. Although, generally speaking both parades are quiet compared to regular nights!

Don't miss the Villians Mix and Mingle in front of Cinderella's castle. We always say we'll do it, but some how manage to mis-time it and get just one or two villians.

Hallow-Wishes, well what can I say about that? Put it like this, if a MNSSHP ticket got you into the park just to see the fireworks.. I'd be very happy! By far my most favourite display of them all, and the one I look forward to every year.

We normally do a couple of rides, but not so many, as we like to soak up the atmosphere and figure out who came dressed as who. Speaking of which, it is the one and only, final thing you absolutely must do - dress up! It doesn't have to be clever or difficult or perfect, but if you're in costume you'll have a lot more fun and more interaction with the CMs.

First year we went, I was Tinkerbell. Second I was Giselle, and last year I was Sleeping Beauty. I am still debating over what to go as this year, and need to get a wiggle on about that!

But go, have a great time, enjoy yourself and get into the spirit... see what I did there?!... of the night.

dont bring all the chocolate back with you cost us we were over our luggage with it all!

If you want do want more chocolate do all the rides first go to the sweets after watch the second parade if you can because younger family's will watch the first one making the park even quieter.

At the end of the night don't miss they guys out the front of the turnstiles they used to give away ghirardelli chocolates 1st 2 years I went last year they had milky ways m and ms and nerds :D

The liberty square boat isnt operating but go down to the deck and see the ghost haunting the boat he was brilliant!

Madame Leota outside Haunted Mansion is brilliant and the photo pass outside is good!

Don't know how much you want to know but there is this thread here

It's a fab nite - i'm pretty sure it was still on at midnight. You will end up with LOADS of candy and we weren't on a mission for it either - you have to ride Haunted Mansion, just cuz it's halloween. It's a great atmosphere and although we were quite tame with our dressing up as we didn't know wot to expect there are some amazing costumes - as the americans don't just dress in scary outfits, i remember seeing a family dressed as the Incredibles and the 3 little fairy godmothers from cinderella were grown women, looked fab. My DH dressed as a pirate (just did face, head gear etc and wore a pirates of carribbean t-shirt) and he got a bow from Cpt Jack sparrow when he passed us on the float which made my nite :) ....it was fab and we would definately do it again - have fun :goodvibes

ok now obviously one of the cool things is that you get to trick or treat in the magic kingdom! A lot of people suggest bringing bigger bags but I honestly do not think you will need them. We got so much in the bags Disney gave us that I don't think a bigger bag is needed!

Something to bear in mind is that you will need to bring this candy back with you as there is no possible way to eat it all while you were out there!

We sorted out the candy and took out all the stuff that we didn't think we would eat and left it as a present for mousekeeping. We brought the remainder back and I have to say 90% of it is still sitting in our cupboards!

Whats special about this party is all the stuff that you don't get to do normally so make sure you do the parade, fireworks and if you can wait in the lines then the character pictures! we went in september and it was hot so i can't imagine dressing up but if you want to then go ahead!

We enjoyed the night but not sure after experiencing it that we would do it again.

Agree! We just used the little bags they gave out - we got TONS of candy from filling those - easily a couple of kilo's.

Just an FYI though, Mousekeeping (and CM's in general) don't accept food gifts (this has been confirmed by CM's on the theme parks board) - so I'm afraid the candy you left for them would have just gone in the trash :(
