Looking at planning a trip next Oct. Were the crowds better at the beginning, middle, or end of the month? What day of the week is best to try to go to MNSSHP? Are Saturday's bad like MVMCP?

Thanks for any extra info you might feel useful.

Hey, we're going the same time this year and next! ;)

The least busy MNSSHPs are Tuesday and Thursday, then Sunday, lastly Friday. There are never parties on Saturdays.

I've gone on Halloween night (sold out) and went this past Oct 2. Oct 2 was much less busy of course. Halloween night is crowded but still so much fun.

October is a great time to go to Disney. Earlier in the month parties are less crowded then later in the month parties and weekdays are less busy then Fridays.

Have fun planning!!

Thanks for the info and clarification. Is it much hotter at the beginning of October vs the end? And how were the Columbus Day crowds?

Wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday a little early! You and my MIL both are on the 29th! Hope to see you while we're there.

Thank you!! When we were there Sept 29 - Oct 3, it was like Sept weather; hot and raining a lot. When we go the end of October, the weather is the best I've ever experienced in Florida. Hot but not too hot and hardly any rain. It's almost my favorite time to go!!

I've heard Columbus Day weekend can be crazy. No first-hand experience.

I'm thinking either the 18-22 or 25-29.

We went to MNSSHP on the 6th of October. Very busy. Busier than any MVMCP I have ever been too. It was the Thursday before Columbus weekend so maybe that was it. And the free dining.

We went to the MNSSHP on 10/2 (Sunday) this fall. We had a blast- it was our 1st experience with MNSSHP, but we thought it was not crowded at all. There were no waits on any rides- even when the park was still open to the non- MNSSHP guests. We entered the park at around 4, and got on Dumbo with a wait of maybe 5 minutes. We walked right on Splash, BTMRR, and everything else. We also had little to no waits for photos/autographs with all the different characters around the park, and Trick-or-Treating stations. Our DD must have collected 10 lbs of candy, and she didn't even hit a lot of the candy locations!

The only time we felt like it was a bit busy was watching the parades. We lined up for the first one at 8, and it was PACKED around the Liberty Tree Tavern (we had been eating there and got out at about 7:45). We decided to bail on the first one and make the 10 pm parade instead- we heard it was much less crowded. It wasn't- it was just as packed as the 8 pm parade. But we had fun watching- even though we had a pretty bad view near the edge of Frontierland/castle hub.

October weather can vary dramatically from the beginning to the end of the month. We were there 10/1 through 10/8, and it was EXTREMELY humid and rainy. It wasn't hot (the highs were in the mid 80's), but the high humidity made it uncomfortable to walk around. Last fall, we went to WDW at the very end of October/beginning of November, and it was wonderful! Highs in the mid 80's, but no rain, and (for FL) very low humidity.

I say, if you want great weather- still warm enough to not be chilly swimming, but not so hot you feel sticky, no rain, and low humidity- go any time between the end of October through the beginning of December. We are planning a trip in 2007 the week of Halloween (10/27- 11/4) so we can have great weather, MNSSHP, Food & Wine Festival, and low crowds.

Thanks, all. I think I'll book the later dates for the weather. We're driving down, so we can be flexible. If they happen to offer a great deal, discount, free dining, etc, we can always try to switch to the earlier dates. I appreciate all the input!

We were there 10/13, the Thursday after Columbus Day. It was in the low 90's everyday so remember that when picking a costume. The crowds did not get bad at MNSSHP util 7:30 or 8:00 and they didn't get better until around 10:00. So my advice is to go early and ride the big rides, then watch parades, then trick-or-treat at the end.

One more question: is there a big difference in the 3rd and 4th week? If we go the 18-22 we would do MNSSHP on Thursday, Oct 19. If we go 25-29 we do MNSSHP on Thursday, Oct 26. Is one date better than the other?

DH told me the last week is better for him at work, although the 3rd week of October the kids have 3 half days. If we go the 25-29 they will miss 2 full days and a half day(check them out at noon and then drive the 7 hours) vs 3 half days the prior week. They'll be in Kindergarten, so I'm not sure that will matter much.

Thanks!

We went on October 18 or 19 two years ago and on October 16th this year. It was hot but no rain. We went on Sundays both times and didn't think it was crowded at all. I figured that people would be travelling on Saturday or Sunday so they would go during the week and locals would go on Friday.

We went on Halloween. The park was full and the parade route crowded but we walked on all rides including the big ones. Kids got a lot of candy and it just felt "right" to be there on Halloween. Most of our group stayed until Midnight. They really enjoyed it.

We went October 20th (Thursday night) this year and it was perfect. We did tons of rides and most of the time we did not have to get off the ride to reload. The weather was great the entire week, except for the humidity when the hurricane was near. If you go the 18-22 you will probably be able to take the kids to Blizzard Beach which is a blast (generally they close for rehad the end of the 3rd week of October). We did both BB and TL and they kids LOVED the water parks and their parents did too! I choose the 3rd week so we could get home and unwind a bit before all the halloween festivities started at home and school. You are lucky to have another trip on deck.

We went Oct. 13th! It was sold out! It was very hot & very crowded for my taste. It sounds like from post I have read on other threads that the last weeks were much better.

We went on Thurs. 10/27 and it was one of the slowest nights they had (per a CM I was speaking with). Just about everything was a walk-on and we didn't have any trouble seeing the parade or fireworks.

I would definitely plan your trip as late in October as you can. There have been many predictions that the strong hurricane seasons are going to be around awhile. Although there is no guarantee your trip won't be interupted by bad weather...it would certainly be a better bet to go later in the month. Plus the temperatures will be a bit cooler.

This was our first Halloween trip but I sure hope it wasn't our last. We loved it! Went to 3 MNSSHPs. October 28th, 30th, and 31st. We didn't think it was crowded at all especially since our trip before in June was soooo crowded and hot. The weather was wonderful, cool enough to make it comfortable but not cool enough to need jackets. The park decorations are amazing and the parade and fire works are outstanding. I had a ball trick or treating, (we won't talk about how long it had been since I last did this).

This is great reasurrance for me as my dates are 21st to 29th october next year and was looking at thursday 26th for the MNSSHP. sounds like weather and crowds will be great,

Claire xx
