MNSSHP - Storming Oct. 4th

Update on my experience:

Went to concierge at Pop this morning, handed over our tickets and were given 3 options: full refund, tickets to another party, one day ticket to MK. We chose the refund. I asked about my sister and why didn't she get a refund? The CM said that last night they weren't even aware that the CMs at MK were telling people to go to their hotel for a refund, they had only learned this morning that they were doing it. My sister is going to drive back to the resort tonight to get her refund (we live an hour away and the CM said that the person has to be present with their ticket to get a refund).

I will say that after sleeping on it, the party wasn't so terrible. The refund helps make it seem better, we did get to trick or treat, I just wonder what the experience is like when it's not storming out. We think we'll try it again next year, it seems like it could be a really fun time!

Did you stand in line at City Hall at all last night, or did you just take your MNSSHP tickets and wristbands to your hotel concierge today? Thanks.

What time was it when you went to the deal at Pop? I ask because when I went to the GS
desk at my resort at 8:00am, the option of a refund was not available. In fact, the cast member I spoke with had no idea what I was even talking about when I mentioned last nights party. 2 other guests came in at the same time as I did & when we all had similar stories, a manager was called and we were then told our tickets had already been converted to a one day pass. This was per an email they got overnight.

Each of us had been told, by separate cast members in different locations, that to get a refund we had to take care of it at the resort. Our resort had no interest in making that happen. At the insistence of our stories, another manager was called and we were told we would need to go back to the MK. Again, we all reiterated our experience last night (being told refunds given to resort guests at resort) and we were finally given full refunds. Thankfully, I charged mine to the room so there was no problem getting it taken off.

More hassle than necessary and I learned more than I wanted about how frustrating it is when the resort is left to straighten out a mess from the theme park.

That was an incredible storm! The area around WDW got almost 5 inches of rain over about a four hour period. Intense!

No, we went to the firehouse and asked a CM if there was anything we could do to avoid standing in the line. She said that since we are resort guests we could just go to resort. We didn't need wrist bands at hotel but they did take the printed out tickets.

That's so crazy! We were at Pop at 8:30 this morning. While we were in line someone (looked like a manager) asked us what we were waiting for. We told him we wanted our refund and he didn't seem confused or shocked, it seemed like he'd been hearing that all morning.

My sister actually was able to secure her refund by calling the resort directly instead of having to drive out there.

I love Disney, no question about it. But sometimes, they're so big that communication just breaks down between parks and resorts. I don't like that you never get 2 of the same answers.

We went to guest relations this morning at DTD and they had no problem issuing us a refund. All we had was our tickets.

Just went to Guest Services at DTD. I was offered
one day passes. I explained we have APs and asked
if we could upgrade the one days when we need to
renew but he said not. He then offered me either a
refund on my cc or a gift card. Since our next stop is
The World of Disney we choose the gift card. Thanks
Disney!

We have tickets for tonight's party too.

Not sure tonight is going to be much better folks.

I think it is nice that Disney offered refunds at all! They don't control the weather - and it sounds like they still did Hallowishes and the second parade.

Really they didn't have to - so very nice they did it at all.

I completely agree with you. My party wasn't expecting anything at all. We know the refund policy and that no one can control or predict the weather, so to get a refund really was a nice surprise. We did watch the fireworks and caught a glimpse of the parade on our way out. We were waiting for the fireworks at 9:30 and then found out they weren't happening, so we stopped to get some food at Casey's Corner before leaving, when we heard the fireworks would start in 5 minutes. Turned out we had a perfect view of the show.

My wedding at Disney was completely rained out, worst storm I've seen in Florida in the 5+ years I've lived here...do you think Disney will give me a refund??!?! LOL Now I'm just being greedy! :scratchin :rotfl:

Went to guests services at HS and they gave us tickets to tonight's show. It's been raing for the past 2 hours not sure tonight will be much better:worried:

We were fully prepared for rain, but not dangerous lightning and torrential rain that made it impossible (and dangerous) for anyone to be outside.

It is nice that they did give refunds for last night, which is over and above the inclement weather policy. I wouldn't have known a refund was a possibility if it wasn't offered to me by 3 different cast members.

We were at the party on the 21st and the rain really put a damper on things and cancelled certain events/activities. Not mention, our costumes definitely suffered :(

I was still happy to be there, but it will make me think twice next time before I buy tickets in advance. I have never seen rain like this in WDW before. I know its rainy season, but this seems to even be excessive for this time of year. I never even thought to ask for a refund or tickets for another day, since we stayed for the whole time of the party, or lack there of....

I bought our tickets for last night's party at 3:00pm yesterday afternoon.

The sky was mostly blue. :upsidedow

We assumed it would rain .. we just didn't think it would rain/storm so hard for so long.

That's what we kept saying yesterday, that the storm wouldn't last too long. We were looking at the weather maps and it seemed that the storm just stalled over us. :( oh well.

I went to GR at Downtown Disney today, and they gave me a refund. They did explain the tickets had been converted to a ticket to be used at MK. However we have annual passes so it does us no good so they gave me a refund.

I was very appreciative.

We were dying to come down for a week vacation , but if you look at the weather forcast , it's rain every day. We were there last august , and when it rains down there , it pours so i would be real pissed if i spent all that money to go down there and all it does is rain. Especially since we would go just for the party. And people are saying you may or may not get a refund ? Forget that . I will just stay home for now. Maybe disneyland is a better choice . At least the weather now is perfect.

We were at Oct 4th and we were very surprised by the refund. It wasn't the best night but we did get to see some characters and then got our money back.
Since so many things were cancelled or delayed (many outside characters, dance parties, villians mix and mingle, 1st parade) it seemed to make the lines for the character who were out and the treat lines very long. It rained the entire time and lots of lightening. The characters don't go outside when there is lightening. I think of it as EVEN. My kids and I were mostly miserable but we did get to see some stuff and get our money back. Overall I can't really complain. The refund was a very nice thing to do and very unexpected.
