MNSSHP so early?

Thanks to this post we just booked the same day as well. Was supposed to be an "off day" from the parks but cant pass this up. Was shocked it was even happening.
Just relax and rest up. Maybe visit Disney Springs, have lunch, and then take a nap before MNSSHP. Remember you can get in usually around 4:00.

It was this early last year as well.
Plus dates and tickets have been out for at least a month so it shouldn't have come as that much of a surprise.
I enjoy both MNSSHP and MVMCP and would recommend both to others that are interested.
Just be aware that the first one is usually quite busy with vloggers/bloggers... and the earlier the party the more likely there could be rain as its summer.

Personally I went once this past Halloween night. Was cool to do once but I think I’d pass on it if it came up in my cards again

Thanks! It will definitely be strange to see Halloween decorations in August!
We’ve been going to DW every mid to late August since 2010. Even when the parties didn’t start til September, the decorations and merchandise were out in August. So I automatically associate august with the beginning of the Halloween season.:)

Bought tickets but when I look to make dining reservations, nothing comes up past 6pm @ MK. Do you have to do those differently?

edit: just read the FAQ and see there isnt Res. during the party

I've done MNSSHP and MVMCP and I loved MNSSHP best. There's not a ton that puts me in the 'spirit' for Halloween but MNSSHP does the trick!

I wanted to chime in on the costumes - absolutely NOT necessary. However, since we're from the northeast, I let my kids get skimpy costumes that they would never be able to wear up here in October because it would be too cold. My daughter wore a beautiful Moana costume with a tiny bit of bare midriff- a warm-weather-only Halloween costume for sure!

Adults can do costumes for the Halloween party. They aren’t allowed for non party time. It doesn’t have to be super elaborate. I have gone as a Wilderness Explorer the past two years. Cargo shorts, shirt bought on Etsy and WE hat from Hot Topic. Lots of people did Halloween themed t-shirt like vampire Mickey Heads.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I will probably skip MNSSHP party this year UNLESS they announce something new. (New entertainment or something I can't live without. Hallowishes could really use an update imo.) They've gotten earlier because of such high crowds and demand, but I went twice last year, once in August and once in September, and they were extremely crowded. Still had a good time, but I'm gonna pause on these for a while.

Editing to add: It it potentially an AMAZING event though. Certainly worth doing if you are a fan of Halloween. The parade is bomb, and everything is more fun if you wear a costume I think! (Not required, but I think it makes the experience infinitely better. just don't dress too hot.)

Well I’m still torn, I told hubby about it and he is not sold. We are going to wait and think about it. It is another added cost and were already doing a fireworks dessert party so we’re trying to keep extra expenses down. If anything we would do the 2nd party, definitely not the first. But our first 6 days are action packed I don’t see anyone wanting to be at the park 7pm-midnight on our last night there.

We went last year, to the 3rd party (August 31 I believe). It was our last (7th) night at WDW, and we were dragging our feet! We loved the parade but the only rides we did were Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain (boyfriend’s favorite). We did 2-3 treat trails (lines were long) and skipped the Hocus Pocus show because I was just too tired. We had some AK planned for the following morning, plus our flight.

Personally, I would feel like I didn’t get my money’s worth for the party if I skipped the actual party stuff to ride rides. Especially going in August with relatively low crowds (for regular park days - our party experience was crowded but certainly not unbearable!)

That’s my major complaint about the parties these days. I have other options to ride rides without long waits that cost me nothing. The party exclusives are what make the party special and outside of waiting till the end of the night to get in trick or treat lines, every party exclusive activity had a miserable line or wait time and has had the last few times we tried it. In fact, it’s gotten progressively worse.

We have AP’s and/or longer trips with hoppers so the ticket is a 100% additional cost to us.

That’s what I’m thinking would happen. We would all be exhausted and not get enough out of it to justify the almost $400 added expense.

I’m wondering...why have the parties gotten worse as far as crowds go? I mean are they selling more tickets than they should? The whole idea of it to me is that it should be low crowds and short lines in order to enjoy the experience and justify the hefty ticket price. Since we already have park tickets with hoppers it would also be additional cost for us.

They increased the number of tickets sold. How many no one really knows, but enough that it can make for a pretty miserable time. Our last party in October was the most crowded park time our entire visit, and by all reports was not a sell out.

Bummer...I think that ruins the experience.

I have mentioned in a few posts that we went to first party last year and it was sold out... It is the one all the bloggers/media go to. It was very crowded in the walkways and very hot that night which made for miserable getting around.
The show/fireworks/parade were all great.. But even at second parade we were 3 rows back in frontier land... Got good view of show by moving directly from parade though adventure land to front of Castle while everyone else in hub was watching parade come through . Fireworks found decent spot 5 minutes before easily.
The lower tier rides were walk on . But 7D was still 45 minutes. Didn't do any characters, but lines were long for most.
We did what we wanted for most part.. But wasn't fun doing it due to the crowds in the paths. Wouldn't do it again.
