Hello everyone,

My first post on DisBoards - how exciting! I am heading to Orlando this September and have made an ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern on the evening we are attending MNSSHP. After reading some reviews I am now thinking of canceling and trying Kona Cafe, any advice on whether leaving the park is worth it? We have never been to Liberty Tree and I have always wanted to give it a try.

Thanks!

We've never had the dinner at LTT but enjoy the lunch selections.....good food and good service. We also really like Kona Cafe....and to be honest, it isn't really that hard to get there - maybe an extra 15 minutes on the monorail vs. staying in the park. If I had to choose between the 2, I'd go to Kona.....get away from the crowds for an hour and enjoy a good meal.

We ate at Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner in November. We really liked it. It was close to our anniversary, so I put in my reservation that we were celebrating. When we got to our table they had decorated it with a heart.

As you probably know, the food is served family style. It was just the two of us, and they brought us a little too much food. You can have more if you want, so I kind of wish they would have started us out with less. The salad was the first thing that came, and it was so huge we probably could have just eaten that. This would not be a problem for larger groups.

The salad was very good, as were the meats and potatoes. I sort of remember thinking the stuffing was a little bland, but not a big deal. We refused the mac & cheese beause my husband doesn't really like it and there was already so much food I didn't want that to go to waste. They served us flank steak (I remember because I hadn't had it before) and pork (and the turkey), where the menu now says carved beef and smoked ham instead.

We ate most of the food and then they brought us a huge dessert. We shoved some of it down, but were too full.

Bottom line: I liked it a lot, but it was a lot of food for two people, even when they just brought you the mimium. I felt bad for what we wasted.

Also, that was the first time I had eaten dinner at a sit down restaurant at Magic Kingdom and it was really nice to get off our feet and sit down in a cozy restaurant. It was a little chilly out that night and it also felt good to go inside the restaurant.

I'd stay w/ LTT simply because you'll already be in the park for the party. To have to go to the park, get your wrist band, then leave, eat, come back...too much traveling when you could be trick-or-treating!! :cool1:

I'd try Kona for another meal and stay w/ your first choice !

Thanks Everyone, I think we are going to stick with LTT - but I do want to try Kona at some point.

thank-you again!

I would also suggest making that dinner as early as possible so you are not wasting MNSSHP time while eating instead of enjoying the events that are only available during the party. We always just do a CS meal for dinner on party nights and maybe a TS lunch so that we don't run into late seatings, extended meals, and wind up missing out on something we're paying extra for...

I agree about not leaving the park to eat too. It always takes longer than you think to leave and come back. It was nice to go in, eat, and get on with our touring!
