Would you do MNSSHP or CRT?

I'm trying to decide between MNSSHP and CRT. We currently have reservations at CRT on Oct 30 and I'm thinking about cancelling and applying the cost to MNSSHP, especially now that my princess loving 4 year old say's she'd rather go to MNSSHP. Before I make the change, I'm wondering a few things.

  1. What rides are open? Can we do things like Meet Cindarella and Belle?
  2. What are the ride wait times like for things like Peter Pan and 7DMT?
  3. Do the tickets come with FP?
  4. Do my husband and I have to dress up?
  5. Is it worth it? Any tips?

1. Most rides are open, and there are plenty of meet and greet opportunities.

2. Most people go for the party activities, so ride times tend to be low.

3. No FPs during party hours, however, you can get in as early as 4pm with a party ticket and can book FPs for 3:30-6:30. (Disney is canceling FPs with end times after 6:30, and you would only have from 4-4:30 to use the first one.

4. No

5. You might want to check out the MNSSHP thread:

1. Almost all of the rides are open...and wait times are usually less than 20 min at the most. Last year we walked on most rides. Carousel of Progress is closed for example.
2. There are no fast passes during the party.
3. Costumes are not mandatory
4. Theming is great and fireworks and parades are awesome.
5. It's expensive but worth it for the wait times alone. We are going twice during our 10 day trip next month.

MNSSHP is worth more than a meal at CRT in my opinion. The characters, parades, shows, trick or treating, fun spookiness...is so worth it.

Personally I'd do MNSSHP. CRT is a nice meal and a chance to meet some princesses but that's it. MNSSHP is a whole evening of activities and you could actually meet 4 princesses with minimal waits if you enter at 4 pm and use 2 of your FP (prior to 6:30) for both sides of princess fairytale hall. You do not have to dress up if you don't want to do so. Since you are going in late Oct if you want to see a a parade at night this would be your only opportunity. We really like the Boo to You parade. Hallowishes is great, too and the Cadaver Dans (costumed Dapper Dans singing Halloween party type songs).

Check the main MNSHP thread for details and planning. You can use the tickets to book FP that end before 6:30 pm (i.e. 3:30-4:30, 4:30-5:30, 5:30-6:30) assuming you don't have FP already booked for the same day using a daytime ticket (only 3 advance FP per person per day is allowed on MDE). There is no fast pass during the party. Most rides are open. I beleive jungle cruise, carousel of progress, railroad, tiki room and possibly enchanted tales with Belle are not. You could hit those before 7 if you wanted to do them.

This all sounds great. I think we will make the switch but I'm going to check out the MNSSHP thread first. (Sorry, somehow I missed that there was a thread already.)

So if I want to switch, can I just call Disney and have them cancel CRT and buy the tickets for MNSSHP right then? Also, we currently have a day ticket as part of our package and already scheduled FP for that day. I could reduce the day tickets by a day and cancel the FPs and then use the MNSSHP ticket to schedule new FPs. Is that how it works?

FPs aren't connected to a ticket, other than the fact that you have to have a valid ticket to book them. Unless you aren't now planning to go to MK that day until 4pm (when you can enter on a party ticket), you don't have to cancel the FPs you already have.

I guess what I mean is, if I didn't have a regular park ticket for that day, the system still somehow knows to let me make FP reservations?

I cannot imagine a situation where I would choose CRT over MNSSHP.

haha, I know! I'm wondering what I was thinking now too. Originally it just seemed outlandishly expensive. I got CRT because my daughter lives for princesses. But then I described both to her and at first she had a moment of trembling indecision until I said she could meet Cinderella another time. If even she wants the party instead of lunch then I definitely should switch. I just hope she can make it through enough of the party.
