Need opinions

This is our first family trip and DS6 is very anxious to get to the magic
kingdom.
We arrive 10/1 and depart 10/7- so my 2 options for MNSSHP are Sunday 10/2 and Thurs 10/6.
If I choose 10/2- it will be our first full day in the parks. Since my son is so anxious to get to a park we would probably go to MK first thing- maybe stay 2 hours and go back to POR to rest then hit the party later. Would that be too much??? :confused3
Second option- if we go on 10/6, we have to leave the next day. What time is checkout??? Out fllight does not leave until 9:45 pm. Do you think that would be too hard of a day having to checkout early after being up so late then still having hours to spend before our flight???? :earseek:

I would opt fot 10/2. You could always hit a different park that morning, then go back to hotel for a short nap, then to MNSSHP.
I believe checkout is 11. Sometimes you can call and get a later checkout. Enjoy your trip.

I'm curious about this, too....we can choose from October 2-6-7 on our trip. Any advantages of one over the other?

We are planning on going 9/30. That will be the first day, do you think it will be to busy? We could go 10/2 also. Would that be better?

Hi wannabee (& fellow southerners ;) )! My family will be at POR Oct 1 - Oct 8 as well, so I'll give you my two cents worth. We chose Oct 2 because it's a Sunday and because I was worried that the Thursday and Friday parties would be getting crowded with locals and guests coming in for the Columbus Day weekend.

That being said, you might choose the 2nd or wait and go on the 6th. I suggest the 6th because if this is your son's first trip, then you might want to wait a few days before going to the MK. Sounds absurd, I know, but that's what the UG book recommends and I found it to work out pretty well. When my children were younger and we first started going to WD we would tour Epcot, MGM, and AK before going to the MK. That's because we knew if we went to the MK first, then our kids would have been disappointed in Epcot and not have enjoyed it as much. Same with the other parks. We followed the "save the best for last rule". Doesn't work for everybody, it's just a thought. If you just can't hold out to go to the MK and decide to do MNSSHP on the 2nd, then look for us - we'll be the family dressed in "Trading Spaces" shirts with a carpenter thrown in for good measure! ;) :teeth: Have fun!

I have been able to get a noon checkout at the Riverside in the past--but never later than that.

Bell Services will hold your things until you head for the airport, so you'll have all day to enjoy something :) I would choose hanging out by the pool, or other relaxing type activities. I would also bring something to put all your trick or treat candy in, LOL! Last year we got a TON!

What type of passes will you have? I'm not a fan of doing a park early and then the Halloween party. That's just our family's personal preference. Whatever MNSSHP we choose, we will sleep in, hang out at the pool, etc. and head to the MK around 4:30pm. Unless I have an Annual Pass, I don't like to use a day off my pass for just a few hours. That's just my 2 cents on that, for whatever that's worth. :)

I'd go with Sunday, October 2.

Our first park day is always Sunday and last year we did MK (EMH) on Sunday (Oct 24 I think it was), left after lunch to relax at our resort, and then went back for MNSSHP. Worked out great!

pirate: Usually on our trip to MNSSHP, we stay at the resort and rest all day. Then we hit the park, and stay until closing. It makes for a long day if you go to the park during the day.

I'd say not the 7th, since it's a Friday, and I read that weekends are more crowded. I'm going myself on the 6th, and the 13th, I also had a choice of going on the 11th and 7th, but I didn't want to go on a weekend, and my DBF is going to be with me on the 6th and 11th so we're doing MNSSHP together on the 6th, and hitting MGM, (Fantasmic dinner package,) on the 11th. :flower:
