Hello all!

DH and I have thought of doing this for a while. Catching the last MNSSHP as well as the 1st MVMCP in the same trip. Has anyone ever done that? How was it? From anyone's experience, are they busier days? We have been to MVMCP and thought the traffic was not terrible, but have never been to MNSSHP. Any advice or thoughts?
TIA

I do think that sounds like a really fun idea, but I believe those last couple of Halloween parties will be the absolute busiest. With small kids, or if it were my first parties, I think I'd do it differently. I'd rather go earlier and do a less crowded MNSSHP and save MVMCP for another trip :). Of course, if I was locked into those dates, I might be tempted to give it a shot! If you do both, report back on how it goes!

That's actually been my dream trip for some time. And I have noticed more and more posters planning for it lately. One thing to keep in mind is that the last Halloween party always sells out. And lately the first Christmas party has been selling out. That's actually one of the things holding me back on actually doing it.

My dream too! :) I definitely would like to do that one year! I say go for it!

We did this in 2010 - actually mom2rtk you made my daughters maleficent costume for MNSSHP!

We had a blast - we went to WDW for 18 days. We did MNSSHP, MVMCP a 4 day cruise on DCL and celebrated my son'e 4th birthday. On the flight home DS said "wow we have been in disneyworld a long time - it was halloween when we got there and it was Christmas when I left!"

We bought our tickets for the parties when they first went on sale. We didn't find the parties too crowded although the halloween one was sold out.

Can I ask generally when is the last MNSSHP and the first MVMCP we are planning a trip October/November 2015 and we might be able to do it eeek!!!

We just did this last year - the last Halloween party of 2013 and the first Christmas party of 2013. We spent 8 nights at the Beach Club and enjoyed both parties, plus Food and Wine. It was just DH and I, and we had a ball.

I will tell you that both of the parties were sold out. It was very busy at the parties, but we still enjoyed them. If you were trying to do some of the more exclusive party events (like seeing the 7 dwarves), you might have a harder time at a sold out party.

It was also Jersey Week, so that added to the crowd levels. We had great weather and would do the trip again - just to enjoy the fall and Christmas decorations at the MK!

I was hoping to do it this year until I realized that November 1 is a Saturday, and I don't think the chances are good that MK will close early on a Saturday.

I wonder if it will be November 2 or if Halloween night will be the last one. Then of course that impacts when the first MVMCP will be.

Anyone have a prediction for this year?

We are doing that this year... We arrive on Oct. 30 and will be leaving Nov. 9, for a 10 night stay. I am hoping the Christmas party will either be on Nov 7 or 8. We did Halloween night 2 years ago, and it was sold out, but manageable.

Agreed.. Went for Halloween 2 years ago, and lined up to do 7 dwarves 40 minutes before the party started, to ensure we were able to do it.. We were finished with out 7 dwarves photo by 7:20, and didn't waste the party waiting for it like I'm sure so many others did....

We did this in 2012. Arrived at WDW on Nov 1 (right after Hurricane Sandy). The last MNSSHP was on Nov 2. They had a soft opening of the new Fantasyland that evening and we had the chance to dine in BOG - that did take some of the time away from the party but was worth it! I am not sure if the party was sold out since it was after Halloween but the crowds were hugh. From Mon to Tues most of MK was transformed from Halloween to Christmas decorations. The first MVMCP was on Friday Nov 9 and HS Osbourne lights opened the same night. We went to HS on Nov 10 to see the lights. Initially we didn't plan to do both parties but when they released Fall free dining and it ended on Nov 1st, we added a few days to the front of our trip so we could take advantage of Free Dining and attend both parties.

My prediction has always been that Halloween will be the last party. I can't wait to see the Nov. calendar to see if it is true. I'm just not sure they will have enough time to do the switchover if they do a party on Nov. 2.

We are planning on going on Halloween because we feel like there probably won't be one in Nov because of what PP said - too quick of a switchover - and then hopefully the first Christmas party on the 7th - my dream for years will hopefully come true this fall!

I would love to do this. I just don't know how long of a trip you would have to go on to realistically pull it off.

That's what I'm afraid of. I also can't wait for the November calendar to see !

because of timing I wasn't able to plan it so I could do both parties in 2013, but I did not find that the switch was very drastic. it was all Halloween when we arrived on 10-19, but by the time we left on 10-30, there were touches of Christmas all over. it was beautiful!! I can only imagine how WDW works to just add gradual changes overnight! I'm sure by maybe the 3rd or 4th of November all of the Halloween stuff is gone and it's all Christmas!
I hope to do this soon. my daughter's college schedule is in the way!! lol!

MK could not have been decorated for Christmas on 10/30. There were still MNSSHPs left. :confused3

I didn't say it was totally decorated for Christmas.. there were subtle changes around the parks, such as Christmas ornaments and mini trees mixed in with the Halloween stuff. the color scheme changes were also very subtle.. there were plenty of oranges and browns, but there were some reds and greens blended in. it was very nice. I'm sure as the days went on, there would be more reds than oranges, then all red by the time of the first Christmas party.
