MNSSHP HalloWishes Dessert Party - Post tips, helpful hints, and chit chat

Hi all, wondering if anyone can tell me if this will be doable or should we just try for the second parade? We managed to get a B.O.G. dinner reservation for 7:05 on a party nt. We also have dessert party reserved. Will it even be possible to have dinner and a look around the rooms as well as pics with beast and get back to the reserved area for parade? Anyone know if you will be let in after parade starts even tho it won't be at the hub yet? Thank you for suggestions.

You should be fine. I can't imagine them telling anyone who booked a dessert party "no you cant enter". As long as you can still cross the street (before the parade gets there) I don't see the issue. We plan to arrive about 8:45pm at the flag pole.

I would suggest not going to BOG. They can run behind in getting you seated & before you know it you've missed the first 90 mins of the party. If you don't get seated right away & eat quickly I don't think you'd make it to the parade viewing spot in time. Also you will be full from BOG so you won't want desserts. I'd pick one ADR & stick with one.

We did BOG last year right before the party started and also booked the Villains Sinister Soiree. I wouldn't do it again. The dinner, (which was NOT good btw), took a lot of time and combined with the plethora of desserts later was just too much. I'd choose one, or the other. Both takes up too much time and it is just too much food.

Thank you for your answers! We did already figure it would be alot of food that nt. But we are travelling along way for this vacation and also meeting up with family who have never been, so parts of our trip are too have as many special experiences with them as well as create a bit of (not so crowded) moments they can enjoy with the young one. They did not want to be added to the bog reservation as being their first time at disneyworld and, therefore, their first mnsshp, they wanted to just get as much of the party atmosphere as possible for that nt. Also being our first time back in 4 yrs, we wanted too see the inside of the new restaurant and get the beast pics. So yes I know, a very expensive nt, for alot of memories. They will most likely make the first parade and that's more why we wanted to get too that one and meet up with them. As our vacation plans came together only a few months out, this was the only reservation for bog we have been able to snag for dinner when they were released with the dessert party tickets. And (because its all about the memories, right?), it was also the time i was able to snag a reservation for a castle dinner, on a party nt that we hadn't planned. Extra family wont have arrived yet. So we just decided to keep it and add a second party to our plans. As we are staying offsite we aren,t able to make fastpass bookings yet. And assuming the sdmt will be hard to get ressies for at this point the reasoning is we should be able to ride with a short wait sometime on one of those party nts, even with the dinners and dessert party ressies.

For those of you who have been to the dessert party this year, how bad was it going down Main street to get to the flag pole viewing area for the parade? I always hear that main street is so crowded during the party.

Thanks for the reviews and information, we attended the MNSSHP last night and despite the rain about 6pm we had a great time, we trick or treated like we were kids and managed to ride plenty of rides. Our next party is Sunday Oct 3 and we have reservations for the dessert party, it was a surprise for my best friend but I decided to tell her today so she could read some of the reviews and see some pictures. Now she is so excited too!

We're going Thursday and have no intention of just standing in the parade area, waiting for an hour and a half for the parade. My plan is to cut through Casey's and down through the Emporium to get to the end of the route and cross to the flagpole. Hopefully, since we'll have credentials, this won't be an issue.

oh yeah, I wasn't implying that people would get there an hour and a half before the parade starts. I was thinking of getting there more around 8pm or 8:15. I am thinking that if we get there at 8pm, I will park my husband and stroller in our spot and go see Tinkerbell and talking mickey in town square so at least we are doing something b/w 8 and 8:30pm.

I'm thinking about not showing up in the parade area until like 8:45, sometime between when the Horseman rides and the parade reaches the bend up by the hub. The parade won't make it to the viewing area until close to 9, I just don't want to sit there for an hour.

Has anyone ever used this shortcut path to get down to the flagpole area? hope it's open to get down there for the parade check in. that means no fighting against the traffic on main street!

This is our first MNSSHP; we will be in Adventureland until it's time to head to the reserved viewing area for the parade. How difficult/crowded has it been to get there? This is our first time at WDW, so we aren't familiar with the layout. How long should we allow to get there from the Tarzan meet & greet area? Thanks!

For anyone who has been to the dessert party yet, can I ask a question about checking in and getting the lanyard? Is the only pick up location for this outside the park entrance ? I read will call but I'm not actually sure where this is. Also, can you get your dessert party lanyard and your party wristband at the same place?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember there being wooden walls there keeping you from venturing too far off of Main Street/Tomorrowland and getting behind the buildings. But I could be mistaken, so let us know if you have luck with that.

I think there are walls there but people have reported that CMs open them during busy times to lessen the traffic flow down main street. I have no idea how often times this is done or if ever during a MNSSHP event.

Ah, hadn't heard that one. That'd be great for my trip later this month if that's the case!

Where exactly do you check in for this? If we are in the park by 4pm, where and at what time can we check in?

Also, If we are in line for Haunted Mansion at 7pm, then take some time doing the photos, head to PotC afterwards and do those photos, then head to the FP area, will it be difficult getting there? Do you think we can do both rides, and photos, and get to the FP area by 8:20-8:30pm?

Thank you.

How does this look for a realistic party plan:

3:30 Arrive at MK and line up for security, pick up party lanyard, snap some photos, etc
4:15 Get SoMK card, ride FP+ ride (currently IASM since I don't care if we miss it)
4:45 Peter Pan FP+ and a couple of other rides in the area
5:30 ETWB FP
6:00 Grab a bite at PVH or CHH
6:45 Head over to HM for magic shot and maybe the ride itself, Winnie the Pooh ride with M&G, adventure/frontier land ToT stops and low-wait character meets
8:15 Head to flagpole for parade
9:15 swing by the dance party/Mickey/tot station (only 1) before going to the terrace. Hubs and Mr. Littles may leave before fireworks while my brother and niece enjoy the terrace
10:30 7DMT, castle show maybe (not a Hocus Pocus fan), and whatever else we have the stamina to enjoy
