I have a solo trip booked for 8/28 until 9/2/17. I am excited that I will be there for the first 2 days of Food and Wine at Epcot (have never been to this event). However, I also just noticed that the Halloween party will be held on 9/l/17. Is this something I should consider. I don't care about collecting the treats or photos with characters due to being solo. I should mention this is a first time solo trip for a late 50's gal. Although it would be cute to see the characters dressed up in Halloween attire.

Is this something I should consider doing just to experience the atmosphere of the park, the fireworks and parade which I have never seen as I have never been to this event. Will it be packed or will I be able to ride the attractions without long wait times. This is a relatively short trip so I don't want to be out non-stop. I'd like to relax a little, etc. Also, Friday, will be the day before I leave for home.

TIA for any insight!!!

I went by myself in 2015 for a week in September and I was 44. It was the best vacation I ever had! It was easier to get parade and firework spots, the lines were very reasonable and I saw so many cool characters! Heck, I even came away with some candy from the trick or treat trails! And yes, I had a costume too.

Go! It's so much fun! The atmosphere is amazing, you still can chat to folks in line and I promise, no one will bat an eye if you're by yourself. If anything, people compliment you a lot at your moxie!

I hope you have a magical trip!!!

I would love to do this party by myself. I think I'd enjoy it more if I wasn't trying to satisfy everyone's wants running from thing to thing. Love this party and would love to do it at a leisurely pace. Enjoy!

We went (adults) and did a little trick or treating (why not) and mostly rode the rides with super short lines! We loved the parade and the castle fireworks, etc. Tried to watch the castle show but there were just too many people to get a good view, so we rode more rides! Did a few of the magic shot photos. We didn't meet any characters.

I went last year by myself and had a great time even though it never stopped raining and eventually left early. It's fun to see the halloween lights on throughout Main Street and the hub. In general it's a different atmosphere. It's also a lot of fun to see the costumes that other party goers wear. Some of them are pretty detailed.

I did the Christmas party last year as a solo and had a great time. This year I'm doing MNSSHP as a solo and really looking forward to it. The parties are everything you enjoy about a solo vacation plus better parades, unusual fireworks, different treats, and happier people. Plus at that time of year, it will be cooler in the evenings so more comfortable for you.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I am seriously going to consider booking it. I accidently stumbled on the dates and thought, maybe this would be fun. I've been to MK many times so the party will definitely put a different spin on it. The only party I every did was with my son when they had the Pirates and Princess Party. I think that is what it was called. They don't have it anymore. We really enjoyed it. ME probably won't pick me up until 11:00 a.m. for the airport, so I won't have to get up super early if I'm out late.

I have really enjoyed the Halloween parties, though they do get crowded. I would think you could really enjoy it as a solo since you can stay out as late as you want without someone needing to head back as a result of being tired.

There are some threads on these boards mentioning that several of the popular rides may be closed, though some of those may just be a result of typos on the website (???) Splash will be down, and some have claimed BTM and SDMT could be closed, but that is not for certain. If you just want to experience the atmosphere and the parade, the it is worth it, I think. It really is something special.

Yes do it. I'm in my early 50s and I did the party last year on my own. I had such a good time. It was so easy to tour just by myself. I met a lot of people. I did get into seeing characters and getting candy late in the night. Go for it.

I've read about this event but really never considered going until I came across the dates for it in just researching for my trip. F&W will be a new experience and so would the party. Since I've been to WDW many times, it is tempting to try new things. Although going solo is certainly new. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I did an eight day solo trip last September and went to a MNSSHP. It was a spur of the moment decision and I bought my ticket at the concierge desk at POP right around 4:15PM on the day of the party. Got the advance purchase price, which really surprised me. Had a great time just soaking up the atmosphere, riding a few rides with very short waits and of course the fireworks and parade.

I did the Party solo in 2012. It was a lot of fun, got a lot of rides in with short waits and saw the parade twice. If you only want to see it once, I would recommend the second parade of the night, since this one is less crowded. But don't miss it, it's great.

Also, I would save the treat trails for later in the night. In the last couple hours of the party, the line ups for treats are much shorter. If you tell them you didn't get treats all night, they'll likely give you handfulls of candy.

Thanks for the input everyone. I decided to definitely book the party. I think I'll go on Aug. 29th instead of Sept. 1 that way I won't be super tired the next day when I have to head home. Everything I've read about the party so far is great. I haven't ridden SDMT, so I'm happy it's on the list of open attractions. Another plus I've read is the ticket price is lower in August/Sept.

The crowds will be lower then, too. I didn't think it was crowded the last time we went (in Oct 2015) compared to daytime crowds, in any case.

Wear a costume! You'll have more fun.

And don't be shy about trick or treating, it's part of the party and part of the fun! We waited until the end of the party and were also handing out glow bracelets to the staff (and other partygoers) and the CMs were just heaping the candy into our bags.

I'm in my 50's but I still like candy, and to trick or treat once again.

I did this on a business trip a few years ago - it was so much fun! I went at my own pace, did what I wanted to do, stayed up late, rode rides. It was a great time and I would definitely do it again!

Glad to see you decided to do the party. You won't be disappointed! I am a 49yo woman and my trips are all solo. I love it. I go at Halloween or Christmastime every year and like to do two parties. One for the parades and fireworks etc. and the other to concentrate on characters. Let yourself go and have a blast!

Enjoy! I am in my 50s and did the party solo a couple of years ago. I met two or three characters, trick or treated, had a great front row seat for the second parade (in Frontierland) and rode lots of rides.
