Our first year - should we stick to a Disney theme, or are we going to be one of a hundred Peter Pan-themed groups?

We are thinking crayons.

I am wondering the same thing. My daughter wants to wear her Cinderella costume to breakfast at the castle but there is No Way she would pack and wear the same costume to both festivities! She has a couple of non-disney costumes she would like to wear to the party(a poodle skirt or dance type costume).I guess I am just happy she still wants to dress up at 10! Will non-Disney costumes be out of place?

I've seen all kinds of costumes from Disney to non-Disney. You will not feel out of place in a non-Disney costume!

I've seen pirates, mideval princesses, a family of Elvises and poodleskirt girls, Peter Pan groups, Wizard of Oz unit, Flintstones, Strawberry Shortcake, Superman, Spiderman, tons of Disney princesses, Alice, hitchhiking ghosts, witches, dalmations, Kim Possibles, Harry Potter kids, Yugio, devils, I Dream of Jeannie, and more.

The best way to stand out in a Disney costume is to put together your own version rather than using store bought, or choose a less popular character.

Don't worry about theme, as long as it isn't inappropriate (we don't want any 8-year old dominatrixes, hehe). You will see many Disney costumes, but many non-Disney as well.

Just go and have fun no matter what you wear!

My family is going as a "mixed bag". DH and I are from the 20's (he'll be a ganster and I will be a Flapper, DD12 is dressing up from a masquarade ball and DD8 will be the Queen of Hearts

This will be my 3rd year in a row going..

Lots of Disney Costumes.. Sometimes they "mix" it up.. Snow white as the DAD, and the Dwarfs as the wife and Kids

Ive seen homemade costumes, Ive seen Orange Tee Shirts with sayings on it, like "this is my Costue"
Witches, Super Mans, Clowns etc..

The only thing I havent seen.. Is truely creepy, scary, You know gouls, with bood, monsters etc.. (and Im grateful for that)

Go in what you want, and have fun!!!

I am so glad to hear that non-Disney costumes are okay. I made my Daughter a Dorothy dress for her birthday party and it is also going to be her halloween costume. I am so glad that she can wear it to MNSSHP and not be out of place.
