MNSSHP Disappointing me before I go!

I first read that they were taking out the Prince's this year but adding the Queen from Snow White and Maleficent. I was disappointed because I wasn't going to meet Flynn Rider but I would at least get to meet Maleficent. Now I am seeing Maleficent and the Queen will only be at the Villains Soiree. Add to this the Mix and Mingle is only going to be on stage. I was really looking forward to MNSSHP this year as we have never been and we planned our vacation to be able to go to it. I know that some villains will be in the dance party but that just isn't the same as getting a posed picture. I also know that some will be around the park, but we had a few things we were really looking forward to and we are disappointed now. I am glad I didn't buy my tickets yet because now I am not sure I will. Just disappointed now and needed to let it out.

I hadn't heard about Maleficent and Queen only being at the soirée. Where did you read that? They are the only reason I bought tickets!

I read that DIsney removed the princes so they could put Snow White and Evil Queen as a meet n greet and Maleficent and Aurora as another meet and greet over at FTH. I inferred that each pair would meet guests together, but I could be wrong about that.

Well that has thoroughly pissed me off! I spent money that I didn't have because me and DD wanted to meet Maleficent so bad and then they take her out? There is NO way we can afford that soirée. This is ridiculous! I realize characters are subject to change yada yada yada but you make a huge announcement and then snatch it away a week later? Ugh.

Yeah Disney really disappointed me with the MNSSHP this year. You would think with how many villains they had out for the Villains' Party a week ago that they could have some of those guys scheduled for the Halloween parties.

It also seems like they have the same characters year after year. I had heard rumors earlier that they were swapping out the Tarzan characters for the Hercules characters (the Hercules characters had a 3+ hour wait at the 24 hour party), but nope, they decided to go with the same old.

I'll still go and enjoy the party atmosphere and the parade and fireworks, but I really wish they'd swap out some characters. Or at least not take away any promised ones, like the Maleficent and Snow Queen.

I completely agree. We have a budget and even if I didn't I don't think that soiree is worth $99 pp. It may be to some people just not for me.

I've calmed down after my initial meltdown lol I guess this just means we don't have to be worried about a long character line and we can just enjoy the party! Mostly rides with almost no wait lol I'm sure we will still have a blast but it is disappointing!

My daughter is going to be devastated if we can't meet Maleficent- she's one of the main reasons we are going to MNSSHP! If the Tremaine Family can be at the Villians Dance Party and the Sinister Soiree then please!, oh please! Disney let Maleficent be in more than one place!

Surely Disney would not do something so overtly rotten as to take them away from MNSSHP and make them available only at the Soiree? As jaded as I have become at times, I just can't believe that will be the case.

Am wondering if they may not have Classic (green faced) Maleficent in one place and either soiree or regular park and new movie Maleficent in the other. Seems like costuming wouldn't be an issue as they had both I believe in the Villain party..I am booked for soiree and very much hope Maleficent is there, but I don't see why they can't have more than one or one classic, one new.

And you know the Tower of Terror isn't a real hotel, right?? Some people go for the rides, some for the shows, some for the characters. When Disney takes away opportunities to experience attractions, and charges the same (or more...or WAY more...), people get ticked. And for some reason, they think other DIS'ers will empathize.

Hope OP (and we) get to see the wicked green one at MNSSHP. Boo!!

Someone with inside contacts posted in another thread that the characters at FTH would be the same during the party as they are during the day.

I posed the question the other day, in one of these threads, exactly HOW much exclusivity does $100 per person buy you at WDW. If it will buy you a limited engagement, crowd controlled, intimate experience with Maleficent if she is, indeed, no where else in the park, then I'm ELATED that I paid for the Soirée. I probably would have paid more. Sorry y'all, I would have.

As much as I'd like to say you are right, you should have went the jaded angle. According to Kenny, the only way to meet Maleficent and the Snow Queen are to pay for the soiree.

This is how I am reading it, I wouldn't have thought they would do it either. I guess we will find out in a few days.

LOL. I also know when I am on Space Mountain I am not in space, I am not falling to my death out of the attic on The Haunted Mansion ride, or that I am on Mt. Everest in the AK. With that said it doesn't mean when I am in WDW I don't like to pretend a little and get my picture taken with the characters.

And I don't begrudge anyone that wants to spend their money on that, I think it is a waste but you don't and that is fine. What I have a problem with is that just last week Disney announced that the Prince's wouldn't be meeting with the Princesses in PFTH but the evil Queen and Maleficent would and now they are not. They were always part of the Villains mix and mingle and now they won't come off the stage. I don't have a problem with them being at the soiree for those that paid, but Lady Tremaine is going to be at the Soiree and the Dance party and supposedly the Queen and Maleficent aren't. Why can't they be at both?
