First of all, we received our tickets to MNSSHP today! :goofy:

It mentions enjoying a Not-So-Scary dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. We switched out 5:30 reservation to a 7:35 reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern because Crystal Palace will always be there and we wanted to experience all the MNSSHP has to offer. Has anyone experienced Liberty Tree Tavern at the party?

I'm not understanding the distinction between an ADR at Crystal Palace or Liberty Tree Tavern. You'll be 'wasting' precious party hours having a reservation after 7 PM, regardless of where you are dining, no?

We plan to have a big meal before we arrive at MK at 4 PM, and grabbing some counter service snacks later in order to maximize the party offerings.

We went to the LTT for MNSSHP back in 2009, had a wonderful time, the characters are all in costume and got some superb pictures with my DD (she was 8 at the time), if my memory serves me we saw Micky, Minnie, Goofy and Chip & Dale all wearing costumes and eye masks!
The food was really good too, we all really enjoyed it and said we'd definitely do it again!

If you want to experience all that MNSSHP has to offer, I wouldn't waste over an hour of party time at a restaurant. You pay a pretty penny just to attend MNSSHP in the first place, without spending that time in a restaurant. Since you can enter the park at 4pm with your MNSSHP ticket, eat earlier in the day so you can enjoy the whole of the party. With a 7.35 reservation, you will most likely miss the first parade of the night and, even though you can catch the later parade (which is often less busy), the time during the first parade is often a good opportunity to get some rides in :thumbsup2

ooh thanks for the heads up, sounds like fun! Just added a reservation for our trip!pixiedust:

My family wold never do this. I have made ADR's as late as 5pm in the MK on a party night, but never later not only because the tickets are expensive and I do nto want to wast party time having a T meal, but because there are special characters out that are relatively rare, and if we are eating, we are missing an opportunity to see them. If it was me, I'd cancel that ADR and have a CS meal.

I haven't. But if you want to experience all the party has to offer, I wouldn't schedule an adr during the party. It would take too much time away from the scheduled activities.

Don't waste party time at a restaurant.

It sounds like the meal is a party event, and what is the difference between time in line waiting for characters and time at a restaurant to meet characters? :confused3

Liberty Tree Tavern is no longer a character dining experience, so I don't *think* there would be characters there even on a party night.

Personally, I would not spend the additional money on a hard ticket event to spend a good hour or two of it eating a sit down meal. You can eat at LTT anytime. The party is pretty exclusive. :)

If the OP wants to spend $60+ dollars per person (plus the cost of the meal) to pay to sit in a restaurant, I guess that is up to her.

For me, wasting time sitting down eating in a restaurant during a hard ticket event is foolish.

Unless it is new this year, no, the meal is not a party event. Disney is letting people know about dining options in the park during the party.

Like some others we experienced LTT on a MNSSHP night (with an ADR before the party started) years ago when characters were still there and were in costume. We have some great pics from that meal. :)

That said, now that it is no longer a character meal, I wouldn't do it during the party -- there's no MNSSHP experience, per se, to be had in the restaurants unless they change something this year. Even when they had the characters in costume we did this before the party started.

If you don't mind missing part of MNSSHP, then certainly go for it!! I just wouldn't expect anything at LTT that you wouldn't experience at LTT, CP or any other restaurant on a regular day.

Hope you guys have a great party!!

From OP, it sounds like they might be bringing back a character MNSSHP dinner? Then IMO it might be worth doing, but no, for just a plain, no costume character dinner I wouldn't do that during party hours.

OP you might want to keep your earlier Crystal Palace reservation for now if you want a sit down meal, until you confirm that the LTT meal is a Halloween character special dinner?

We have twice had dinner at LTT on MNSSHP nights, both while it was still a character meal and then after that ended. However, we timed the ADR's so that they started long before the MNSSHP actually started. By the time dinner was over, MNSSHP was just starting and we were already in a good place to trick or treat, ride most of our favorite rides, and see the MNSSHP parade. If you can change the ADR to the same place, but at your original 5:30 timeframe, I recommend it. Otherwise, I'd just do CS somewhere.

So someone needs to confirm with Disney whether or not LTT is a special party event with costumed characters. Because if so, I would strongly consider it too. We have to eat sometime during the party, and a CS meal is still going to take us at least 30 minutes I bet (line waiting, then waiting on the food to arrive, then eating the food), so the net cost in terms of time is not as extreme as some posters suggest, and if it gets you a neat character experience (and better quality food) then yes, I feel it is worth it.

I called and spoke with an events CM today who advised me that there is in fact no special events at LTT during MNNSHP. The "not-so-scary" dinner option is just one of the restaurants that will be open during the time, there will be no characters at LTT, during MNSSHP.

Sorry!

Thanks for verifying! Now hopefully that CM has accurate info. :rolleyes1

I would have considered doing this also during the first parade time if it were a themed meal.

The same notice same with the party tickets last year and there was nothing different about LTT dinner. I think it is just saying that it is an option on party night.

OP, if you have a 7:35 ADR on a party night not only are you are paying for a meal, you are also paying ~$60pp for the party which you will miss a large part of. I would definitely reconsider.

That same insert also says you can get an à la carte meal at Tony's Town Square restaurant. I didn't take any of it to mean that there is something special going on in either of those two restaurants. I just thought it was odd that CP, CRT or BoG weren't also mentioned as dining options.:confused3
