MNSSHP costumes-what are you wearing?

In '06 I was Snow White and my BF was her Prince...This year we're both going as Pirates!pirate:

My husband and I are going, and we keep changing our minds for the costumes. Originally, we were going to go as Alice and the Mad Hatter, but I don't have blonde hair and was afraid of wearing a wig.

Instead, I think we're going to take our costume idea from the Haunted Mansion stretching portraits. I'm going to go as the girl on the tight rope, while my husband is the alligator. I'm worried that no one will "get" our costumes, but I suppose that is what makes it an adventure!

HAHA IDK...I have no clue where to find head gear and how to make it. I googled pictures and it looks like a torture device:rotfl: .

I used to wear one just like that and yes, it's a torture device.

We're not very original. We're going as.... pirates. What else? DH has a 'never trust a pirate' tshirt and I have a pink Jack Sparrow tshirt. We're wearing the du rags (sp? :confused3 ) and heavy makeup (at least I am) May black out a tooth. DH has a stuffed parrot that sits on his shoulder as in Mr. Cotton's parrot.

Not alot of fuss but still fun.

..... I'm thinking of going as Maleficent. Found a costume on a non-Disney website. Even my family who don't know much about Disney costumes knew what I was. I don't want to spend money on something and have to explain all night who I am. Just not sure about the weather - will I roast? We're going 10/5. I like the idea of being something Disney - especially a villain for the party - but have never dressed up as an adult.....

Quoting myself here - kinda weird! Thought I'd attach a picture of myself with my costume, which just arrived today.

If your not too crazy about your current wig for Ariel then have you tried Cosworx.com? I have purchased many wigs from them for costumes and they're great! http://www.cosworx.com/product.php?productid=16418&cat=2451&page=1 this one perhaps in fire or henna red?

Yes, I would like to recommend Cosworx too! I'm thinking of buying my future wigs, either for a Snow White or an Aurora costume, from them. It's so difficult to figure out which companies are reliable these days without good recommendations.

That is a classic costume! Which party are you going to? We'll be there on the 9th--DS1 will be mickey and DS4 will be Handy Manny-

Anyone know if they sell any adult costumes during the party?
I haven't seen any :(

We are wearing matching shirts I am working on a design. Would love to dress up but am trying to limit my packing seeing we are coming from the UK.

Now there must be some pictures kicking around as a lot of these people that posted have been already.

I was there last week and I didn't see any costumes for adults. But some of the Halloween t-shirts were nice. I saw some people just wearing black tshirts and then had the halloween lightup necklace on.....and some were wearing the skull lightup necklace type thing that they sold before the parade. I saw them selling them before the normal nighttime parade also.

I bought a "spider web fairy" the other day that I think I'm going to wear to the party. It looks like this (don't worry, it looks much less skanky on me than it does on the model lol!):

The only thing I'm kind of worried about is a) trashing it running around the parks and b) the pleather-y bodice. But overall I think it's going to be a fun costume. :)

We are a family of 5 plus my BIL so 6 of us will all be wearing....

Unfortunately, they do not sell any adult-sized Disney costumes at the parks or in DTD, even during special ticketed events like MNSSHP. You are welcome to bring them from home though...

After many Disney visits, I understand that this is because they don't want little kids to confuse the guests with the real characters. In addition, if you happen to look somewhat authentic, the CMs have a chat with you to kindly remind you not to sign any autographs, so IF you bring this type of outfit from home, just respect that policy. :) (We wouldn't want to spoil a child's autograph book with the wrong signature! Most of the characters have their own unique way to sign.)

Keep the rules in mind, it's a family event, and enjoy dressing up to your heart's desire during the special ticketed events!

Laurabearz, thanks for the pics. I love picking out costumes like yours at the park; I can tell that you made the extra effort!

We like to keep it simple, . Although the hats might become a pain lol I like that idea of visablitiy for the kids afterdark... we can see them... they can see us... :thumbsup2

If anyone see's us, give us a big ALOHA!!!

My sister and I are taking my mom at the end of Oct. We are going to dress up as dolls from "It's a Small World". I am going to be the can-can doll, my sister - the Dutch doll and my mother will be a Indian doll (middle eastern). I think I will do it in the white costumes so that we will all match better. Do think people will "get it"?
Are other option is 50's poodle skirts as my mother was born in the 50's and we are celebrating her 50th birthday!!! Either way I am making the outfits myself.

Love, love, love this idea. If you are the sewer, I think people would get it quicker with the white themed outfits. Either way, what a great idea!
