Hi guys
My dd is coeliac so cant eat gluten I was wondering if Disney accomadate this during party nights specifically the candy trails where I know she will be desperate to trick or treat.

TIA x

You can go to City Hall. I know they have sugar-free candy available there for diabetics. As far as the regular candy for trick or treating (on the trails) there is no special candy. However, everything is in manufacturer-seal packages so after you get back to the room you can sort through it; if you have web access you can check on each variety.

I agree with Cheshire Figment.

If you have not been before, the Trick or Treating might not be exactly what you are thinking. On the special MNSSHP map, they have candy stations listed with a Goofy's Candy Company icon. When you go to that location, you will see a large marker with that icon that shows where to go. At most locations, there will be line of people moving pretty quickly toward the candy distribution spot. The candy is in very large tubs and the CMs handing it out just reach in grab a handful for each trick or treated. There is not a lot of time or light for them to be able to do anything special for any special needs.

We have gone every year for the past 5 or 6 years. We do collect the candy ( maybe that is a term that describes the process better than trick or treat), but there is a lot that our DD can't eat due to her disabilities ( no hard or sticky candies). We sort through the candy when we get back to our room, separate out some she can eat ( or DH and I want to eat). We bring the rest home with us and give it out along with other candy to trick or treaters who come to our house on Halloween.

There is a lot to see at MNSSHP and you may find that your child is not that interested after the first few candy collections. It seems like a long time for the party, but by the time you wait for and watch the parade and fireworks, you have spent a lot of time and need to prioritize what you want to do - candy vs characters.

My dd has a list of allergies and there are very few candies that are actually "safe" for her. So whenever we have an event that includes candy collection, she participates with everyone else. Then when we get back home/or to the room I swap "my basket" (full of safe treats) for her basket.
This way I am not trying to read labels in the dark to figure out if something is safe. I just make up a basket of safe things before hand.

Just to let you know during October there are a few places to Trick or treat at WDW. Last year they had ToT on the character trails in AK during the day. You posed for your picture with the character (in holiday garb) then you were invited to take a piece of candy from a large basket. The basket contained smarties, nerds and suckers. You can also TOT at Downtown Disney. To my knowledge neither place offers "other candy". So you may want to have a feww safe candies on hand for your dd.

Thanks all I will bring some with us so I know its all safe for her to eat.
Thank you for the eplies and hopefully my boys will be bored quickly and prefer meeting the characters.
much appreciated x x x
