Just in case you didnt feel like reading...my experience at the christmas party last year was that they started meeting at around 6:45. The line was VERY long at that point already. We probably got in line around 6pm and it was decently long.

This year there are reports of them meeting starting at 6:20...The line will probably be pretty long by 6, I'd go earlier than that of its a priority
