Mnsshp-9/29

Okay, so is there a special map or times listing that they hand out showing where everything is? Last time we were there, we just wandered around and enjoyed the atmosphere. This time, we want to hit it all. Anyone have any info, or a copy of something that they hand out?

This year's map/schedule is already posted HERE on the DIS.

I was there on 9/29 and my family had a blast. We had 5:30pm ADR's at Crystal Palace. It was so funny after we ate because the ladies room was packed w/ people changing into their costumes. We headed straight to Tomorrowland around 6:55pm and saw the CM's waving people out of the park who did not have a wristband. They were also holding ropes across the entrances to the lands and not letting people in without a wristband. I honestly did not see anyone without a wristband after 7:30pm.

The Alice Treat Trail was really packed at 7:30pm. We did that and then headed over to Main Street for the 8:15pm parade. We lucked out and got a prime spot in front of the castle. We were amazed.

The parade was really good and the Headless Horseman was amazing! We headed over to the HM after the parade. We really had a great time w/ that lady sitting in front of the Mansion who was supposed to be dead. We thought she was really funny. I loved how the CM's at HM had makeup on to make them look dead.

We watched Hallowishes from Fantasyland because we were waiting in line for pics in front of Cinderella's Coach. This was the only long wait we encountered all night. We walked right up to the Photopass Photographer for the Hearse pic in front of HM.

There were tons of pirates, wenches, and Tinkerbells. My DD2 was Tink, I was Wendy Darling, and my DH was Peter Pan. We got lots of compliments for coordinating everything.

I think the party was great! A bit crowded at times but it was a one-time deal for most people and they wanted to experience everything. We will definitely do it again next year.

Here is our pic in front of the coach:

Sorry...I can't seem to remember how to make it post as a pic.

missy bells dressed in dis green?

we had great time..but was completely wiped out!!! :faint:

We were there 9-29 as well. Were we at the same place? There were lines everywhere, it was packed!!! Much more crowded than several years ago, last year was crowded too but not as bad (free dining, I'm thinking!) We waited 25 minutes to get DD's face painted lined up right when they opened(a man was in front of us and at the last minute 5 kids joined him!)and the Toon Town candy lane was packed. The line for the pins were 30 minutes. 15 minutes for a Dole Whip. The ride lines however weren't that bad. We lined up 30 minutes early for the fireworks and they started a little late, 5 minutes before it starts a guy comes up, stands in front of us and puts his 3 year old on his shoulder right in front of our daughter. I got my foot run over by a scooter and rammed several times with strollers. We will probably skip it next year.

Parade - good. Don't set up camp near a walkway. You just get yelled at a lot to get out of the way for those who want to cross. Headless Horseman was neat. (Oh, adults don't get candy from parade CMs.)

We got a ton of candy from the CM's walking the parade route. :cheer2:

We also just got back from the 9/29 party. I do agree with many before me that it was crowded. We entered the park around 6:30 and headed for Pecos Bills for a quick dinner. After that we parked our stroller to hold our spot for the 8:15 parade. While we did that we did a little trick or treating right across from the magic carpets. We thought the parade was great!! I loved all of the charaters dressed up. One of the hyenas from Lion King came up to my daughter (who is 5) and played with her light up Mickey ears and she thought it was great. She talked about it for the next three days!

Candy lines were long, but moved quickly. Some CM were more generous than others with the candy. If you hit the "treat trail" locations rather than the single ones, you were better off. Charater lines were VERY LONG, so we didn't even bother. We were tempted, though, when we saw the Genie and Timon!!

I agree that it was hard to find a photopass photographer to get a 1/2 off picture. We found one and had our picture taken with the hitch hiking ghosts from the HM. It turned out good.

Cool, thanks! I believe this is the building where the free pics were last year.

To the poster who waited 30 minutes for pins:
When did you get yours? We popped in there on the way out (11:30) and waited for no more than one or two minutes. That Halloween Photopass line was out the door though!

We were there also on 9/29. This was our 4th MNSSHP. Here are my thoughts and opinions about the night:

We enjoyed Stitch's Dance Party. The music was great!

The end of Hallowishes was spectacular....the beginning and middle were just OK.

We thought it was very crowded. (Didn't even know it was sold out.) The party was WAY more crowded than we had experienced earlier in the week at MK.

The Villains Mix and Mingle show is not worth the wait. I thought it was a terrible waste of time. We were hoping to see DJ BB Wolf again this year, but they did not feature him.

I was disappointed that there were not more "new" characters out. The only two we hadn't seen before were Tarzan (we just missed Jane as she left with one family ahead of us) and Walrus. I was hoping for a picture with Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, but we never saw them. Lines for characters were long.

Lines for candy were also long, although they seemed to move rather quickly.

We loved the parade although there wasn't alot different from last year. Enjoyed the addition of Jack Sparrow and the new Goofy float (smelled yummy!) The music is so catchy. I wish they would offer a Halloween CD with all of the music from MNSSHP.

Lines for rides were long when compared to what we had encountered earlier in the week at Magic Kingdom. We managed Buzz, Space Mountain and Peter Pan. We by-passed several rides with the intention of coming back later for a shorter line, but never got around to it.

Saw lots of pirates, Tinks and Peter Pans. We saw one family at LTT for dinner...mom was Wendy, dad was John Darling, sons were Peter and Hook and daughter was Tink. Very cute! Also saw a couple dressed up as Mary Poppins and Burt and thought they were fantastic!!!

Based on this year's experience, I don't think I will make it a priority to go next year during a time when MNSSHP is being offered. I know I'll never do another weekend party! There just wasn't much new this year and we left feeling a little disappointed even though we did have fun. I think they are over-selling these events, and my guess is that they are going to lose repeat attendance.

Were you at the end of the parade route? We were in Frontierland and my DS6 got one piece from most of the parade CMs and was bypassed several times as well. :sad2:

Hi All!

We also attended on 9/29 and wish we had not.

We should have heeded the warning as to how the night was going to fare when it took an hour (!!!!) to check into the cabins at Ft Wilderness. We stay at Ft Wilderness all the time and it has never taken that long to check in. We checked our dog into the Ft Wilderness kennel and were told there were 30 dogs there-the CMs were perplexed as to why so many dogs were in that kennel and people at the World. I thought it was due to the free dining plan, start of F&W, and of course along weekend. Sheesh.

Once we got in our cabin we got on our costumes (DS Hercules, DH Hades, me Meg with a bad wig.) and drove over to the TTC around 6:30 (we were not in the mood for the bus and boat to the MK.) It was fun to see others in their costumes and enjoyed the tram ride.

Getting into the MK was not bad despite the huge line (it actully moved quickly.) Once we got into the MK we wandered around aimlessly amazed that there were not alot of people around. We trick or treated and then went on Haunted Mansion. Once we left the HM we noticed that the crowd picked up alot! We batteld our way to Fantasyland and noticed the line for Cinderella's coach was very long, the line for Peter Pan was very long and even Small World was crowded!!! Yikes.

We started to lose our steam. We found Chip and Dale's dance party and DS danced a few dances. We left to go find something else to do. We decided to eat dinner at Cosmic Ray's-oh boy. I think every one who ordered before us had a problem with their order. After dinner we tried to get on Buzz Lightyear but the lines were long. We wanderd over to Toontown-got a photo taken and noticed the face painting lines were very long. Wandered down to the line for the Alice candy trail-line was very long, gave up and went back to wandering around aimlessly.

We somehow snagged a decent spot on Main St for the fireworks and enjoyed them despite the late start. More wandering after fireworks then wound up again in Fantasyland and got some ice cream. DS and I wound up riding Snow White (short line due to 10:30 parade) and endured a couple who talked through the whole ride.

The point to this boring diatribe is that we spent alot of time wandering around trying to to avoid the crowds. Next year I will try to plan a little better to avoid crowds-maybe we should try to go really early in September! Oh well, at least DS had a great time.

Thanks for the detailed report! I had tickets to September 29th, but decided not to go. The main reason was that it sounded like there was nothing new from last year, and it appears to be true. Glad to see I am not the only one to think so. What a disappointment. And the characters sound like a repeat of last year but minus a few, as even Big Bad Wolf isn't there anymore. Some earlier reports implied there were some new characters (like Jack Sparrow), but apparently they were only in the parade. :(

I have no regrets at all about skipping this year. And next year, I am going to be very cautious about planning a MNSSHP trip. :(

This was our first MNSSHP, and we enjoyed seeing Clarabelle Cow, Horaca Horsecollar, and Clara Cluck in the parade. The gravediggers who made sparks were fantastic as well. The parade did seem short though, but it was still easily the highlight of the night. I had read about loads of characters being around, but this certainly was not the case.
BTW, did anyone else notice the woman who dressed up as Snow White? She looked exactly like the real one, but we knew she was a guest because she was on line for Buzz Lightyear.

For those who went on Friday:

--What were you wearing?

Maybe we saw you. The most recognizable person in our party was wearing a garden gnome costume with a big beard.

Mickey1122- DH and I were Fastpasses...Space Mountain and Soarin'

We had a great time...we've never been, so we have nothing to compare it to. We loved the parade and fireworks...trick or treating was fun...it was neat to see some rare characters. We did a few attractions, all of which had little or no wait. We're excited to go back with our DD in a few years!

the cms only try to give out one piece per person b/c they have to hit half the parade route with only one bag and it is also hard to give out the candy cause so many people are throwing the candy bags out as they are passing by
big tip to get the candy during parade (from a friend of mine who does it): have the candy bag out front and completely open during the last part of the parade and don't scream at them as they pass by (no one likes to be screamed at)

My wife and I attended our first MNSSHP on the 29th and we had a blast!!! Of course, it helps that she is completely addicted to Hallowe'en so the attitude going in was that nothing was going to ruin this night - not even the big crowds. She made both our costumes (Jack Sparrow for me, and Tinkerbell for her - complete with a handmade yellow wig that looked awesome!)

We found the crowds heavy, but bearable. We used the first parade as a time to meet a lot of the characters as well which helped a lot!

The best part of the evening was getting our picture taken with Captain Hook. After the picture he motioned for us to stand to one side. A few minutes later we had ourselves, along with Smee, and Peter Pan there. The cast member who was with Hook then announced that Captain Hook was going to take us on Pirates of the Caribbean!!! Wow! We the proceeded to follow the good Captain through the lineup of people who were waiting for the ride (I figured it was probably about a 30 minute lineup) A little piece of me felt bad for them as Hook pushed his way through, but a bigger piece of me was totally excited!! :) The best part was that he ACTUALLY RODE THE RIDE with us!! We were singing the Pirates song and had an absolutely great time!

Overall we had a blast! Lot's of candy, the parade was awesome, pics with all the characters, the dance parties, and of course the fireworks (which we were just glad to see after they started a little late!!)
