Mnsshp-9/29

I am glad that you had a good time! We went to the party last night also.
Our report:
We arrived at 4:00 after eating a late lunch at Kona Cafe. At MK, we entered and were given wristbands and a candy bag apiece. The parks were not crowded at all. In Main Street, CMs had a big "See Ya Real Soon" sign, the friendly way of saying "Get Out if you don't have a ticket!" They did a fantastic job of getting rid of unticketed guests.

hbehrman: I agree

Happy Hallowishes was just okay. It was ten minutes late, and the choreography could have been better. The music didn't mesh with the fireworks like it does in Illuminations or regular Wishes. It was very cool that the fireworks surrounded you at the end.

hbehrman: I also agree

A very knowledgeable and informative CM, Rachel, gave us the inside scoop at about five. The Alice and Wonderland Trail was the only way to get candy!

hbehrman: Not true, adventureland was just as generous. Except for the one guy on the Alice trail that saw both of our twins in a stroller and dumped an entire bag of candy at thier feet in the stroller. What a great look on their faces and their reactions. It was hilarious.

I would definintely make more 50% off photo locations besides the existing ones, as the lines were out the door.

hbehrman: agree in fact we only got Tarzan and Jane with our girls due to line concerns.

We got our Grumpy pin,

hbehrmann: got two grumpys for my twin girls for their first pin when they get older and a Jumbo for me

See above for comments

Thanks for the reports! We leave on 10/31 and will go to the party that night. We did our first MNSSHP in 2004 but we're excited to go on halloween night!

If anyone was into pins...How were the lines for the special release pins? Anyone know if those sold out? DD is a collector--mainly chip and dale---and we're excited that one of that nights pins is chip and dale. Were there any pins left over from prior nights?

Thanks!
Sharon

The 9/29 pin was Grumpy and I went and got it about 7:30 before the first parade and had only two people in front of me. You could get two of the regular MNSSHP pins and one Jumbo pin for each wristband. So I got all of that. I plan to give each of my daughters (twin DD4) the grumpy's when they get old enough to pin collect and that they have a permanent remembrance of their first MNSSHP, and save the jumbo for me.

I can tell you the CM's at Peter Pan weren't checking for wristbands on Friday night! The first CM let the family in front of us into the line with no wristbands; another CM passed us and I stopped her to let her know the family in front of us didn't have wristbands on; she sorta shrugged it off and the CM in the loading area let them right onto the ride. I "tattled" because I was curious to see if there would be any response from the CM's...nope. They ignored the situation even though they were well aware of it. Just thought I'd share what I saw...

And yes, it was very crowded for anything party-related (candy, characters, etc.) As a result we enjoyed the no-line rides and left as the fireworks were going off. We won't spend the extra money to attend next year...it was fun, but not worth the extra money. I found the lines to be just as short by going to the MK on the EMH AM, and that didn't cost extra.

I went to both Sept 22 and Sept 29th parties and the Sept 29th seemed more crowded than the Sept 22nd one. We did do a few rides and didnt wait at all but the crowd in the park was pretty bad. We did the Adventureland trail during the fireworks and we were practically alone with the characters. That was a smart move, Tarzan did tell us that : "Smart move, you come when no one here. You do good in jungle!" :rotfl:

It was fun to see it once but when we go back in 5 years I don't think we will do it again. We don't have kids either so we were basically there for the parade, fireworks and extra time on the rides. The ride lines were fine pretty much got right on stuff but it was sure crowded to walk around.

Thanks for all the reports.

I guess a Friday or Saturday night is likely to result in a sold out crowd.

Just an fyi...there aren't parties on Saturdays.

I think 9/29 sold out because it was the last one during free dining, it was a holiday weekend in Florida, and it attracts the locals. Not all Fridays sell out though.

I've heard mention of pins? Grumpy pins? Are there special MNSSHP pins available only on this night or are they specially priced?

We went last year and didn't get our free photo :( and now they aren't offering that this year). But they are offering photopass at 50% off?

We've just decided to go on a last minute trip so I've had less prep time for this trip than normal. We're going to MNSSHP on Oct 12! I need all the dets!

For anyone who used the photopass during the 9/29 party did your pictures show up out there? We just got home and pulled them up on the internet and none of the ones from the party are out there.

Pics on my normal photopass from Sunday are not showing up either... I saw someone else with the same issue - i filled out the online form and submitted it today.

Each night of the party has a unique pin, and there is a special pin for AP holders. These pins are not available in all of the stores, only the Exposition Building near the train station during party hours. I believe if there are leftovers after the party they are then sold in one of the stores on Main Street (I think Uptown Jewelers).

No free picture this year - 50% off 5x7s through photo pass - you can purchase in the park or online.

We will be there for our 2nd party of the year on 10/12!!!!

Have fun!

 We were there Friday evening as well. I was very worried about it stating "sold out" on the signs as we walked in. It didn't seem crowded until the parade began, then it was very crowded, in my opinion. My DS 6 was worried he would get seperated from us and wanted to hold my hand all night. It was a little scary for kids to get separated from a parent when everyone was dressed up in costumes.
I was a little miffed during the parade because there was a little boy standing behind us along the parade route and I invited him to sit up by my DS so he could see, then gave him some lighted bracelets (nice, huh?). Then his mother managed to weasel her way to the front and stood directly in front of my DD2 and I. (She could have seen him from where she was standing.) My DD could not see anything. The mother then proceeded to dance around and act like a total idiot. (there was NOT space for dancing) My DH was so mad and almost said something, but couldn't bring himself to in front of the little boys. But I still can't get over the rudeness of this - one of the reasons that people stop random acts of kindness I guess.......
I was disappointed that the crowds kept my kids from doing alot of trick or treating, face painting, and having their pictures taken with the dressed-up characters. We could have done these things, but they are small children and were totally pooped by 10pm. I wish that WDW would not oversell these events and I feel like they did that this past weekend. 30K is too many people when there are all these "special" events taking place and I had to pay $150.00 extra to take part. I don't feel as if I received my money's worth, I guess.
My husband said he had never seen so many fat Tinkerbells and pirate wenches in his life. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: Honestly some of the costumes were just a little indecent for a WDW party.
I didn't see anyone without a wristband, but after it got dark, who would have been able to see the wristbands anyway? We were too busy trying to navigate the crowds with a stroller and a little boy to look for wristbands.
My DS was so excited to go, but I think he was disappointed in the party. It just wasn't what we had planned on from the WDW website and the brochures. I had wanted to do the MVMCP someday in the future, but I don't think we would ever do it now.

Here is my 2 cents: DH & I got in at 4:30 w/ no problem. Lines for attractions were walk on. Space MTN closed for a few minutes around 6PM, ? No problem riding twice (2nd time about 10 min wait from door to load).

Candy - DH got a rock. JK - but we were not given much candy AT ALL! Perhaps b/c we don't have kids. Leaving there were tubs of min. snickers. We went 2 both tubs BUT they look in your bag and won't give you seconds by saying, "We have the same candy here" like they pretend you're not trying to double up. A handful is not a top off, like someone else said above.

Parade - good. Don't set up camp near a walkway. You just get yelled at a lot to get out of the way for those who want to cross. Headless Horseman was neat. (Oh, adults don't get candy from parade CMs.)

Hallowishes - Late and the soundtrack was a bit off. Still, it was great. Don't miss it!

I didn't look for characters or dances, but I saw a lot of activity in those areas. The decor was the same as last year and put up quietly. I did notice the effort of CMs getting out the non-party guests. You could not enter a new area/land of the park w/out a wrist band even a bit before 7PM. So,
there were a lot of people there, but nothing like a regular day. At 5PM it felt pretty empty. A sold out event, you could tell at the fireworks that there were lots there.

PS - If you want an original costume, don't go as a pirate. Every pirate was there. Oh, and it was hot. Shorts & t-shirt (in DIS lime green) for me and late at night I was still warm. Let me know if you have any questions!

Which is exactly why I wont be going in costume this year, as I would hate to think I was being laughed at. Ho hum. ;)

I was at Friday night's MNSSHP and will be there again this Friday night. (had to come home and work to pay for more trips to disney. Really this working thing is getting in the way of my WDW time.)

Let me just say that Halloween is my absolute favorite time of year. This was my third Halloween party. My first was 10/31/02 and then again in October 2004. Obviously the 10/31 party was the most crowded but last friday was a close second.

Wound up getting to the party at 8 (very late and I was concerned about getting held up trying to maneuver through the first parade, but arrived without hassle.) Saw sold out - got scared. Bracelets available at turnstiles. Got up main st. and headed to adventurland just to get out of the parade. walked on pirates - amazing job with Jack! The likeness is incredible. Then couldn't get out of adventureland, so we trick or treated (no kids just two crazy adults). Did adventurland treat trail (by-passed characters). It was fun, as I imagine that if I tried to trick or treat here in Manhattan people would slam the door in my face and call the crazy train to take me away. Took of to Lib Square and more trick or treating. Rode Pan (I was dressed as Wendy so thrilled to see myself in the ride.) Then went to sit for Hallowishes...and sat...and sat....and sat....But it was worth it. It's a great show. Noticed that during the delay the lights on the castle started to go off to start the show but no music or fireworks. So then I guess we waited for them to reset the show. Trying to leave Wishes was not so magical. It was very hot and there were so many people and there was pushing. I gave up and just sat to wait for the 2nd parade. I thought maybe the parade would be delayed b/c hallowishes was late. No such luck.

So I sat in circle in front of castle. Had a view of the villains show. It was cute to see but I wouldn't have done it had I not been sitting there. Parade was AWESOME. Much better than the last time I saw it. And oh that catchy tune. I'm still singing it today. The CM's gave us candy along the parade route and we weren't kids. It was nice to have snack while sitting there. When they would pass some of the little kids behind me I would let them trick or treat in my bag and give them my candy. I don't get many trick or treaters at home so it was fun to give out candy to them.

After the parade we rode splash without any wait and no problems, then trick or treated by BTMRR and then Alice trail. Then buzz which broke down and they reset my score in the middle of the ride. Oh well what are you going to do? It was still fun. Got of Buzz at about 12:15 am and headed out of the park.

I completely didn't understand the 50% off photo. There were photpass people taking pictures in front of the castle during the fireworks. I don't know if I can get 50% off that photo - but I definately want to get that photo this week as I am going with my best friend for the girls trip. I would really like that memory. Does anyone know what you have to do to get the photo? I think they should have been more clear about it in the brochure.

Overall, can't wait to go again on Friday. It still remains my most magical time. I'll be going to my first MVMCP in November. So we'll see how it compares, but I just love watching little tinks, princesses, pirates, ghosts & ghouls trick or treating in this fantasy world. I'll report back again after this weekend. :goodvibes

My seven year old son and I arrived about 6:20pm, it was very cool looking in the MK! We went straight to the Haunted Mansion, then rode some Fantasyland rides because we had missed that land on our MK day. My son LOVED Small World and Peter Pan.

We had a great spot for the first parade. We were on the porch in front of a little shop in Frontierland (and arcade) there were people in front of us but we were above them and had a great view. When they started throwing candy my son started crying, the people in front of us lifted him down in front of them so he could get some. How nice! Everyone was very nice! CM'S were having a great time and it was lot's of fun.

It did get scary crowded and seemed too dark in spots. My son was sticking to me like glue, he was very scared of the crowds. We got a little candy but not much and the lines for photos were too long.

But there were a lot of good moments, just being there, it was a warm wonderful night to just hang out in the Magic Kingdom. Going on BTMR at night was fun. Went on Pirates and bought Pirate stuff in the gift shop.
Had a great hotdog at Casey's. Seeing my son's face during the fireworks. There is no place I would have rather been that night!

You should have had a special MNSSHP Photopass card. Then when you get home, just log on to Photopass with that card and then there should be a discount code on the back of the card to get the 50% off.

Hope this helps

I was there that night for the party. I had arrived on Wednesday and was so happy with the low crowds everywhere.

I did not get to the party until around 7:30. It was crowded around Main Street for the first parade, but I expected that.

I went as part of the DIS Ladies Meet, so I did not have the kiddos with me.

At first I was sad about them not being there, but after seeing the lines for candy, the crowds for the parades, and fireworks I was glad that they were not.

We went in June as a family during the crowded peak time, and this party was the only time on my trip that I saw so many crowds!!!

I heard many people complaining about how crowded it was, and that they sold too many tickets.

My experience that night was not good at all.

However, this is the first time that I had a "bad" (not so enjoyable) experience at WDW.

If I ever go again for the party with the kiddos, I will try and do it on a week night, hoping that those are less crowded than the weekend nights!

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'm definately going to get that picture at the next party.

:)

Okay, so is there a special map or times listing that they hand out showing where everything is? Last time we were there, we just wandered around and enjoyed the atmosphere. This time, we want to hit it all. Anyone have any info, or a copy of something that they hand out?
