MNSSHP 2017 - Strategy in the making.

FoxC63, have you seen the craft foam tutorials on EPBOT? (It's a Geek website that often offers cool craft tutorials.)

They show you how to take craft foam, score it (cut the little scallops in the armor, for instance), then paint it (maybe a dull gold color) then brush on and wipe off black paint. It would make that vest in a jiffy!!!
The website is great, thanks for pointing it out.

Things have been very hectic around here so I haven't made much progress on our costumes yet, but I did order my hat from the disney store during their latest sale and it arrived this morning. It's so comfy, I love it!

*tried posting a picture but I can't get it to work!

I Love you Kirk!

Congratulations!

I can't remember if I posted this one but I finished my bows the other week and so I have 2 for Universal and one for my 'Ohana breakfast.

And I finished making my ears! :cheer2: well I need to see about adding the little bit of black fur detail to it but I have spare fabric to play around with.
I made them out of a headband with floristry wire, pink felt stitched around and attached to the headband. I used a faux fur ribbon and stitched it around the ears and then in the gaps (midddle and on the edges). I put mini duct tape around the wire for comfort before adding the fabric. Its multi coloured leopard print so you can still see some of it underneath. :rotfl2:

My work friend redid my arm bands as I made them too loose and got fabric glue in the wrong place.
:worship: She knows I'll be coming back with more ideas (and future Cosplay options, I do fancy the D23 Expo 2019).

I know the silver doesn't go all the way around on Judy but I think this a little short but it shall be fine. We made it with Jersey so it wasn't too thick in the heat.

Edit: Fixed typos and grammar.

WOW Bex!!! You are just blowing me away!!! I love your bows especially the Hawaiian one, where did you get the embellishments?
You're bunny ears turned out great! Did you use a pattern? I'll have to make DH one and I can't seem to find one :sad2:
The arm band looks perfect! Love the pointed detail on the hand - very clever ::yes:: I agree D23 in 2019 sounds pretty awesome! :woohoo: Super wonder job Bex! You should be feeling very proud of yourself! Cheers!

Thank you

For the Hawaiian theme I used eBay for the flower its a alligator hair clip that I just added to the middle of the bow. The palm leaf was a piece of faux leather cut in a craft die and glued and stitched together so it was double-sided. The Deathly Hallows embellishments came from here:-
https://www.miniaturesweethk.com/search?type=product&q=deathly+hallows

And fabric was from spoonflower. Most of the character inspired items need a bit of creative searching but they have a few characters there. I just used a test sample size for the bows.

The bunny ears I played with the wire to get the height and just went with it. Headband as from eBay again I got one of the slightly thicker ones. The ears are a little top heavy so I'm going to play with the position of the ears, having wire in them to bend really helps otherwise a bit of fabric on the headband to stop it moving on my head. My hair is too fine to clip the headband to my hair.

This is how I made them in case it helps anyone:-

I did a smaller bit of felt in the middle to pad out the ear and then two piece each side to cover the wire, fabric glued the edge and then went back and stitched it and then stitched the bottom of the felt to the headband.

I had found so great faux fur in grey ages ago and bought a reel of it and I had to go back and match it to the rest of them, think it'll be 3 reels including the tail. I folded it over the edge and stitched it to the felt. I did the same on the back, stitching to the faux fur to join it and also the felt. Then I tidied it up with the little bits on the sides, the base of the ear and between the two ears. I even had to add little extra bits at the back to stop my leopard print duct tape peeking through.

I have no idea how my work friend managed that detail :wizard:, when I made my version they didn't have that.

Thank you, I've made a start on the tail and I need to finish the belt and the badge needs tweaking and I think I'm done. Then on to costume two. :rotfl:

:worship:Thank you so much for all the wonderful step by step instructions! This is the steampunk hat I need to make DH and I'll be using Simplicity 8361, so I'm sure I can incorporate your bunny ears into my plans. I like the grey hat in the photo but will need to make this taller like a typical top hat and use black fabric. I never knew they sold fur on spools so I'll look for that too!

LOVE love love Spoonflower! That's where I found the lining fabric for DS "The Riddler" costume which he has outgrown. Just beautiful fabrics over there. If anyone is interested in creative fabrics here's the link: https://www.spoonflower.com/ Years ago when I was looking for "The Riddler" fabric this site popped up. They sell what the stores don't ::yes:: In their search window just type the theme you're interested in to see what they have. Again a big thank you Bex you saved me! :thumbsup2

No problem there was a lot of talk of ears across some of the threads, I can't remember which one had a DISer who was going to get toy ears, I need to let them know if that might help.

Oooh love the hat. I don't know how common fur spools are the craft chain in the UK (Hobbycraft) does grey and brown. They did white fur per metre too which is how I got the other half of my tail fabric. Having it on from a spool was easier to work with, if I messed up the fur you can't spot the join lines easily so I'm happy with that.

Depending on the hat thickness I think you could poke some floristry wire through it, bend it over and stitch to the underneath and then cover it with fabric and then add in the details on top. I'm excited to see how your costumes come along too.

Oops, I forgot to link Spoonflower haha.

MNSSHP UPDATE via Guest Services:

With all the confusion regarding MNSSHP I wrote Guest Services with need of clarification on the following:
  1. Do I need a Regular Park Ticket AND MNSSHP Ticket to pick up my credentials at Tomorrowland Terrace at 4pm as described on WDW Dinning site?
  2. What time are guests able to enter for the MNSSHP?
  3. Are we able to make FP on our Party Tickets?
This is the response I received today, July 26, 2017:

Thank you for your reply. For any dining reservations (including the Dessert Party) that occur after 7pm on the date of the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, it is necessary that you have an event ticket for it. A regular ticket for the Magic Kingdom won't allow you to be in the park for the event which begins at 7pm.

All you need for the Dessert Party is a dining reservation. However, if that occurs when Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party begins, you'll need an event ticket to enter the Magic Kingdom. I hope that helps a bit. I apologize for any confusion.

If you have an event ticket, you can enter the Magic Kingdom as early as 4pm despite the event not officially occurring until 7pm.

You can set up Fast Passes between 4pm and 6pm if you like. It will essentially allow you to be able to set up 2 Fast Passes at that time (which is an unadvertised perk). Fast Pass times aren't allowed to go over 7pm. If you have a regular park day, you can set up Fast Passes from the time of opening until 6pm on day's when the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is occurring.

We look forward to seeing you soon, Kirk! Have a magical time!

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Holden Dooly

According to this we ARE able to enter at 4pm so again be at MK no later than 3:30pm and for SOLD OUT parties I recommend 3:15pm. For those who have had issues with cancelled FP's I recommend contacting IT and have them reinstate or give you "Anytime FP".

EDIT: On my first letter I sent I too received to robotic answers @Cluelyss pointed out "You may be able to enter at 4pm", I was not satisfied with this response and asked them to clarify. I plan on printing this and taking it with me, should I run into any issues I will respond accordingly.

I don't know why, but this name just killed me. I assume his brother Howdy Doody was unavailable for comment.

I guess when you've survived grade school with a name like that, you have the perfect temperament to be a Disney CM!

Oh now, that's just mean. :rolleyes1

My maiden name rhymed with "Pig", so you can guess how many names I got called in grade school. Builds character!

In high school, my yearbook once read "Travelgrrl *****SOW" rather that "Travelgrrl *****son", so I know from where I speak. And I was always 90 lbs, dripping wet.

School! It's a wonder anyone survives!

UPDATE: MNSSHP UPDATE via Guest Services:
I sent another email to Guest Services and added @anricat email as well. One thing to note is both give us availability to book 2 FP's and not three. I would like to know what time frame Disney expects us to adhere to so we all may move forward. I'll post their response when I receive it.
