MNSSHP 2015 - Be Prepared For Chaos

I will say they weren't as strict with the bands this year I don't think I was asked once to show my band

If you found the crowds so terrible you couldn't enjoy the party, you should have gone to Guests Services, asked for a refund, and left. Not stay, enjoyed the party, leave and then complain it was too crowded. Sounds a bit ridiculous.

Not ridiculous at all. I think you have to experience most of the party and then reflect on it when you leave in order to realize the chaos.

Multiple reports from people who have been to sold out parties in the past have said the first party was crazy busy compared to past sold out parties. Disney needs to know they screwed up.

No. They don't close the park. Last year starting at 5:30 or 6pm, they had announcements blasting through the MK saying that the park was closing at 7 and if you didn't have a MNSSHP wristband to start finding your way out.

I know they don't close the park anymore; that's why I said "how it used to be" and referred to 2002. I edited my original post to prevent further confusion!

And stand in yet another sweaty crowded line just to complain about it? Not a chance. I've e-mailed guest relations already, and we'll see what happens. Refund or not, they need to know how their paying guests feel about how poorly that party was handled.

There's a good chance your resort would have taken care of it (assuming you were an onsite guest).

We were there during the MNSSHP flood of 2012 and it was mobbed at GS - not a line, it wasn't even organized as such - a mob pushing and shoving through the front door. We found out later that the resorts had taken care of those who didn't want to wait in line.

Just putting this out there for anyone who wants to try this route...

Reading about 'checking' bands 'from land to land' etc we go in Oct and I am curious exactly how this is handled. Say Johnny goes from one side to the next and he does not have one and is caught. How do the CM really handle this? I would like to think there is security there and not just CM saying you need to leave because you can not tell me everyone who is caught that says 'I was not aware' is honest about that or will leave on their own. For each body, is another spot in a parade route or something else that any of us paid for. I have never been and it is disturbing to me now. However, it does sound like what little I have found online so far that the second night was better. For that I am thankful for. I can only hope trip reports continue to come in. TY for those who share.

Last night some of the CMs were walking groups across the lands to the next check point. Ultimately you will get to the point where you won't be able to pass through a line of CMs and the only direction you'll be able to go is out. You won't be able to get in any shops, attractions or even use a bathroom without having a wristband. Mostly the bands are on your right wrist so the CMs might not ask you to show it because (especially in the heat like last night) everyone has short sleeves so they can see it easily

TY kindly, My kiddos are on the spectrum. I am going to prep one for his band (or try to) I usually have to wear his MB in the parks. But he is always with me. Is it always the 'right'?

The last 2 nights they have done just because I think it's easier for the CMs to spot. I'm sure if you just tell the CM when you're getting the wristbands it won't be a problem for you to have the wristbands for your son but just know the CMs checking them around the park may stop you to ask about the bands.

So you don't have a rift to complaign if you didn't enjoy yourself?

Yes. But staying the whole time and then deciding to complain once you have left is like cleaning your plate at a restaurant and then complaining the food was bad. It couldn't have been that bad. When you stay for the party, can't be bothered to complain about it at the time, and then complain once you are home, that sounds more like buyer's remorse than a flawed party.

What I have seen them do is ask the guest if they have purchased a party ticket. And if they didn't the would try and have the guest purchase them. If they refused, they were escorted out of the parks. Saw plenty of this one year waiting for the Christmas parade to start.

I've asked for it on my left wrist and been told it has to be on the right.

Lemme guess, you weren't there. We were. We stayed until 930 then couldn't stand the crowds anymore. We got exactly two characters (one because we got in line for Jack and Sally at 5pm), three rides, and about five hundred blank stares from CM's not knowing how to handle it.

Ask around how bad it was and then draw your conclusions from that.

The character lines are always hideously long. And what exactly were you asking the cast members to handle? How to get on rides without having to wait? How to see the characters without having to wait? I'm not sure where you got the idea that the parties are empty and that all of the rides are walk ons and you can walk up to characters without having to wait. Because you were misled. And if that is what you truly expected then I'm not surprised you had a bad time.

No. It's like going to an overcrowded restaurant with poor service, long waits, mediocre food that isn't as advertised and a waiter or manager that you cannot find or is too busy to talk to you at the end of the evening. At that point, you just want to get the heck out.

MANY people who have been to multiple parties over the years and who attended last night's party have confirmed that Tuesday night's party was a disaster. Not sure why you feel the need to :stir:

We were at a party last year about the same time on a Tuesday night. In the span of about four hours, we were able to see around 13 or 14 characters, rode pretty much any ride we wanted with little to no wait, and we're checked for wristbands at least a dozen times throughout the night. There were several announcements made throughout the park saying that there was a Halloween party starting at 7 PM, and stragglers were ushered out by CM's on a regular basis. What I EXPECTED from the CM's was for them to enforce the rules set forth for the party by not letting people without wristbands stay. They failed miserably. And yes, the more popular characters will always have long waits. That's why we got in line to see Jack at 5 PM.

I've done many of the special events before and know exactly what to expect as far as characters, rides, and wait times. The only ones that were 'misled' were the unfortunate ones who were actually at this disaster of an event.

Went to my first MNSSHP last night (Friday 9/18).I felt last nights party was more crowded than I thought it would be. However, I have no other experience to compare to, so take that with a grain of salt.

However, I did wait from 6-8 to meet Jack and Sally. Exactly two hours. Definitely should have gone earlier for that one!!
