MNSSHP 2012 Thread (?)

YW - plus I noticed you're in Kentucky ... not too far from Bengals Country. ;)

I found tons of cute costume ideas online, but so many of them are trashy looking for women :scared: Not everyone wants to go with their chests hanging out and their hineys showing!
What you dont want to dress up like a hooker Elmo

Joining in! We are going September 16-25 this will be our 2nd September trip. We did 2 parties last time and plan on 2 again this year!!! We are SO excited. We LOVE MNSSHP. We have done the Christmas party too and MNSSHP was our fav!! :)

DBf and I will be there! Hopefully going on September 14th. We need to figure out costumes! This will be our first time going and DBf's first ever exposure to Magic Kingdom. Are most of the rides kept open or do the attractions close down for during the party?

Everything is open, they bring out some characters that arent always out. Its super fun.

Not quite everything, but most things. There are not many dining options open during the party, so you will definitely want to keep an eye on the boards when the info starts rolling in so you can plan accordingly.

thanks for sharing your pictures, makes me even more excited to go after seeing those

Happy Monday, fellow MNSSHPers!:rotfl: We've decided on costumes for this year. DD will be Tinkerbell, DS will be Captain Hook, DH will be Mr. Smee, and I will be Peter Pan. Not sure it will live up to the awesomeness that was last year with our TS3 costumes, but I'm sure it will be fun. We came upon our decision in an odd sort of way. Poor DD got home from school on Friday at 4pm and by 4:30 she was throwing up. She did that for 12 hours straight, and the poor girl couldn't even keep water down for the first several hours. :sad2:After being cooped up all day Saturday, we needed to get out of the house, so on Sunday we went to our local Disney Outlet Store. She saw the new garden Tinkerbell costume and fell in love, so we bought it for her since her weekend was so crummy.

After leaving the Disney store, we headed to Target and on our way, we thought about the possibility of doing characters from Peter Pan for MNSSHP. DH said he could be Mr. Smee because no matter if it was hot or cold when we're there, he would want to wear shorts. I was on the fence about the whole thing until he came up to me in Target with a white and light blue wide striped shirt and said "I found a costume. Your turn." :lmao: I figured it must be fate.

So that was that. :rotfl: DS said he wanted to be Captain Hook, and since it would be silly not to have a Peter, that's what I'll be. It looks like DS's costume will be easy to buy with the exception of the hat. I may have to try to make one, but there's still time to try and track one down. I just have to get a costume that isn't a trashy Peter Pan. I don't do "trashy".:lmao:

Here are a couple of photos of DD in her costume. We were just trying it on, so she is a bit disheveled, but you get the general idea. :rotfl:Then there is a pic of DH's shirt. I mean, honestly, what are the odds that we found that so fast?!? I'm just really happy I don't have to make him a shirt this year!:lmao: Happy planning everyone!

She looks absolutely adorable! (wish we had a clapping smiley) :thumbsup2 Can't wait to see the finished product with everyone in costume. Can I just say adorable again? LOL

DH and I are still undecided. Pirate and wench keeps coming up, but IDK. pirate: I'm so afraid we'll be HOT - don't want to end up as a little puddle on the hot pavement, KWIM?

(As a totally off-topic note, saw Dayton lost the other night ... we're miserable together though because UC lost as well :sad1: Oh well, when does football season start? LOL)

Thanks! :goodvibes DD is excited. I just hope she doesn't get cold. She does have a little light pink shrug sweater she could wear. I guess I'll toss that into the suitcase just in case.

There was nothing worse than watching Dayton lose in the final minute (after having a 10 point lead at the half) while my sweet DD was throwing up repeatedly. To say Friday night was a bad night would be a huge understatement!:sad2: UD did get a 2 seed in the NIT, but because we're hosting the NCAA First Four, we have to play our first game on the road. If we win, we should get another home game, so that would be nice. The UD women won the A-10 tourney, so we'll be heading to UD Arena tonight for the selection show watch party. Football practice starts next week!:cloud9:

Once basketball is officially over, and Spring football ends in mid April, I will be in full on Disney planning mode! I pretty much have from May through August to get everything planned before volleyball and football resume. Our family does UD sports and Disney, and there's not much time for anything else!:lmao:

I think the pink sweater would go well with the outfit should she need to wear it. I hope she is feeling better now.

We're in for this year, probably the 25th of September. Tenative costumes, for me, will be Ariel on land. I have red hair so I had to maximize it. LoL!

Thanks!:goodvibes Her tummy ache had a sudden relapse this morning until I made it clear that she was, in fact, going to school today. Then, wouldn't you know it, she was miraculously healed.:lmao:

Tow more weeks of school until Spring Break. :woohoo: We haven't had so much as a 2-hour delay this year, so we really need some time off.

Smitch425, that Tink costume looks great on your DD! I'm glad she is feeling better too :goodvibes.
I don't think we will do costumes this year...instead we will wear matching tees I need to design and make. A few years ago my sis and I made tye-dyed Mickey head shirts for the family. I'd like to do something for Halloween and then Food and Wine festival since it's just me, hubby and my parents. I'm sure we will be going to at least two parties like usual. :wizard:

Last time we went to MNSSHP, my dd was Aurora and I was a witch. DH didn't dress up and neither did DS. This trip it's only DH, DD and I. And he says he may wear a costume.

Sooooo...I need an idea for a group costume for 3. Something not too warm, because we're shooting for Sept. 18th and I think it'll still be hot.

Last time we went to a party it was on Halloween and it was a bit cooler at night in the end of October. I don't think mid-Sept is going to be cool. Am I wrong?

Mid Sept is warm and sticky from humidity and rain showers. Not the unbearable heat of July but not too cool either. I enjoy September weather almost as much as I enjoy October weather :thumbsup2.

Woo-Hoo!!! We're going on our first ever trip to Disney in September and will be doing the MNSSHP!!! I can't wait. I'm beyond excited.

Awesome idea Smitch

I think we've come up with something. I found some t-shirts that have capes on them, one is batman and one is robin (DH & I) DD1 wants to dress up as wonderwomen and DD2 wants to be spidergirl :D So we may go as superheros. I'm agreeing with this, as a tshirt I can totally handle - plus the outline of the body with logo, makes me look much shaplier then I am :rotfl2:
