When you go to the party during the appointed hours (historically starting at 4 PM) you do not get out your "regular" ticket.
It is better not to link your party ticket to your Magic Band because an inadvertent error in setting up the Magic Band might result in a good theme park day being clicked off and therefore wasted for the party admission (if you had not come from another theme park that day). So you would not have/want to put your wrist on the Mickey ball sensor at the park gate.

There will be a separately labeled MNSSHP/Special Event entrance section of the turnstiles. As long as you go through there after 4pm, your MNSSHP ticket will be the one used. I had no issues attaching both our regular park tickets and MNSHHP tickets on our MBs last year.
