MN Wild Hockey game and fire destroys their equipment

Apparently the truck with all of their equipment, skates, pads, etc. caught on fire and they are scrambling to get equipment ready to play their game. Yikes.

Holy cow, how terrible! Some players get EXTREMELY attached to their equipment (for superstition or just because it's the best they've ever found); I can't imagine having to change on the fly like that.

Game's over, the Wild did a good job, had a lot more shots on goal than we did in the first period. We all felt really bad about them having to play in unfamiliar equipment.

We have a huge minor league hockey tournament here every year between Christmas and New Year, teams come from all over the world and literally every ice surface in the city is used for the tournament. A couple of years ago a team from Russia came and their equipment got lost along the way. One of the local sports stores donated a pile of equipment to them. Some kids donated new hockey sticks that they had received as Christmas gifts. It was awesome to see how generous the kids were to their competitors.

Wow that would be tough. Skates are brutal to break in if you dont do it right. NOt to mention the speciality braces or goalie helmets. OUCH!
