I've looked and haven't seen this addressed yet.
According to their website, Hs was to open at 8 am.
Watching videos form today, people were let into the park at 6:50 am and able to go to at least MMRR. Not sure if other rides were open at that time.
So, can you get a BG for RoTR at 6:50 when you were let into the park, or at 8 am, the official park opening time?
We're going next month and want to be sure I understand how this will work if the same thing happens.

The Virtual Queue for RotR “goes live” at the official published park opening time.

With the current 8am openings, they have been opening the tapstyles around an hour early. People fill in the park up to certain points but rides don’t start operating until official park opening.

We are here now. Rope drop today (Thursday March 5) was at 0700. We are currently 50th or so in line for MMRR. And ROTR boarding groups are Not avail at this time.

Can you please explain then MMRR rope drop setup since you are towards the front. Is it all outside or some lined up inside? What time did you get there?

We are kinda crazy. We arrived at the parking lot at 0500. There weren’t that many people when we walked up to security. At 0530, this is what it looked like.

We waited there until about 0600 when security opened up. We then ran to the touchpoints (entry point) and waited.

At 0603, this is what it looked like.

And it got bigger as time went by.

Rope drop was at 0700. We ran as a mass to MMRR, and despite the fact we were third in line at the touchpoint, we were 50th in line for MMRR.

MMRR then opened at 0745, and were the first train! Unfortunately we had to attempt boarding passes for ROTR DURING the ride, and still only got a backup boarding group unfortunately.

Bottom line, this was the second day of MMRR opening, and I’m sure it will be very different by the time you come.

Good luck either way. Hope this helps.

Did they hold you entirely outside until 7:45 for MMRR or did they also fill the inside right away??

Thanks for all the information

Hmm, @pal6860 so would you actually recommend getting there at 6? It seems like it's not too shabby at that time. My only concern is the two hour wait but also my folks are being nice enough to take me to the park and I woke them up to arrive at 5:30 in January (just drop off), i'd hate asking them to wake up super early again...but I do want to try and try MMRR if possible without super long wait as my first Galaxy's Edge plan is at 8:45 a.m. (I've got a Smuggler's FP so not worrying about rope dropping it).

Thank you.
I hope you are corrct that it will change by next month.
That was my fear, that if BG aren't available until official park opening, you could be on a ride when they become available.

This is so helpful!!! Thank you for posting this. we will be there on 3/19 and it is so up in the air!

Stand in the MMRR queue and invite other guests to pass by you (one group at a time) as you hold your position... until you get to try to book Boarding Passes.

That's the dilemma right? Get in line and keep letting people pass you so you can get a boarding group or wait longer outside so no phone interference. Hoping that the run for MMRR slows down a bit for when I arrive in a few months (doubtful) or people keep moving to Slinky and Smugglers run still (also doubtful).

They held us in the courtyard. Then at 07:45, let everyone into the building and onto the ride.

Today was the second day, and surprisingly wasn’t as busy (at crazy early hours) as I expected. If you were to arrive at 0600 to security today, you probably would’ve been about 30 min back when the ride opened. Just pure guessing here.

I think 0600 at security is ok, but maybe 05:45 is better if u can pull it off.

Yeah, I actually had to get BG while on the ride. The guy next to me got 9, and we got 74. That said, still enjoyed the ride!!

But did they only have not touchpoint open? Or were you third at yours and all the others opened as well? That makes a big difference - because if they all opened (or even not all but others) then there were the first and second in line at each who tapped ahead of you plus all the thirds theoretically going at the same time whereas if they only had one open then yeah, that's a LOT of pushing that happened to put you so far back.

OK thanks. It's looking like I may be there at 5:45. Not 100% sure dependent on traffic but i THINK I'll be there at 5:45/6. So here's hoping it works out! I'm just lucky I got a Smuggler's FP.

They were all open. So yes, it was a crapshoot when rope drop occurred. And of course the person who was first in our line didn’t know how to use her magic band.
But it all ended well!

So people got to park 3hrs before open to ride MMRR with no wait time . What was wait time at open? I'm guessing less then 3hrs.
Same thing with FOP people saying they waited only 20min at Park opening. But if you got to park 1hr earlier its really a 80min wait time for first ride

However many of those people, including my family will open to close and value every extra second of park time we can gain. So by waiting before opening you basically are extending park hours which is the most valuable thing for me

Yeah you can get a lot of rides in early normally (besides Hollywood studios this year). If your there all day anyway you can fit more rides in. Just think it weird how people who do half or 3/4 days compare wait times with people who arrive later with out adding on the time standing for rope drop.
