mmmm....fish tacos

TGIFridays has them on their menu now and they are fantastic!

For those who are hesitant to try them I'd suggest you give them a try. The version at Fridays are similar to others I have had. They are fried pieces of fish in a soft tortilla with some lettuce and roasted corn salsa. There is regular salsa and a dipping sauce along with some tortilla chips on the side. I was one who always thought that "fish" and "taco" were words that didn't belong together...but I was wrong. They really are delicious!

Yeah, but I only like the naughty ones where the fish is battered and fried so I don't eat them often. ;)

Taco Del Mar makes them using fried breaded fish (like a big fish stick.) They use a (steamed) small soft flour tortilla, and add in: grated cheese, shredded cabbage, a slightly spicy white sauce, red salsa if you wish (I don't), and some fresh-squeezed lime juice. Yummmmm!!!

PS. I should also add that it took a couple years of my friends' persuasion to get me to try one. :)

They are all over the place in Hawaii. There is a fast food chain called Maui Tacos or something like that. I was hesitant to try them, but I finally did and now I am hooked!

I tried these for the first time the other day and they were AMAZING! I had them at TGI Fridays.

They breaded the fish in a tortilla crunch. Served with lettuce, corn salsa and some lemon/dill aoili. It was so so so so so good.

I will never be afraid of these again.

I LOVEEEEEEE fish tacos! I make them at home with tilapia!

I make them at home. I use tilapia, cook it in a frying pan with a touch of olive oil & lots of lemon juice, then I serve it in a soft taco with homemade cole slaw. DH was skeptical, but he really likes them.

His mind - heck, both of our minds - was in the gutter when we first heard of fish tacos several years ago.

how do you make your cole slaw? We usually have them with lettuce tomatoes, etc, but that slaw sounds good!

I love fish, and I love tacos, but didn't think I'd care for fish tacos. WRONG!
They were really yummy and I would like to have them again.:)

I've been trying these anytime I see them on a menu. I tried to order them at Chevy's but they were out of frsh fish (!?!?!)

They tend to be on the menu of every "alehouse" type restaurant we go to.

Anyone else like fish tacos?

I guess I'm not surprised that you are in California. You don't see them in a lot of places in Chicago. There is a small chain, national I think, called Baja Fresh that has them. I didn't know that Chevy's does here. Only go there once or twice a year, because there are few close by. Same with the BF mentioned above.
But, if done right, they are really good.

I love them! It took a few years for me to try them too! The one's from TGI's are great and so are Houlihan's.

My DH and I both love fish tacos...

My son has tried them as well and he likes them as well.

I've only had them at Rubio's (it's a Mexican restaurant chain out here in the west, fast food but fresh). They are SO good! They fry the fish and put it in a soft tortilla, your choice of corn or flour. I can see why people would be a bit leery over the thought of fish+taco, but I think a lot of people who try them end up pleasantly surprised.

Fish tacos are a staple in SoCal, they're really good when done right. The batter has to be nice and crispy. Same goes for fish burritos. :thumbsup2

Love Fish tacos!:goodvibes TGIFridays are good but I've also had some great ones at The Cheesecake Factory and On The Border. Yummy!!

I haven't tried making them at home, but I think I will try it next time I throw some fish filets on the grill.
