How do I activate this? It says it works for 30 days and that it is activated by downloading a photo. If I have a photo on there from 10 days ago and download it today, does MM start the day the photo was taken? Or the day of download?

There will be a prompt to activate it when you go to download your first photo. Your 30 day window starts the day you activate it.
