MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Where is everyone? Hope you are all safe and sound... I forgot that Pam had given me her address for the list...she prefers not to give out her last name due to some past bad experience with posting info on the internet though, but she said they will get there if you just put Pam and her address, so I will e-mail it to all of you on the card list!

So nice that you all are sending out pictures...dont expect one from me though!! Not only is there nobody around to take a new one, but no time to get them done and in the mail!! I might have to send out picture cards to y'all at Valentines Day!! LOL

Tom's Mom was hospitalized last night with chest pains and high blood pressure. This has happened many times before and required adjustments to her meds so hoping that's all it is. She didn't have a heart attack. I'm waiting for him to call me from the hospital now. Prayers would be appreciated. Her name is Ann and she is 85.

Update: She ate a big breakfast and seems fine. We don't know what time the doctor will make his rounds and the nurse won't say anything.

Lee jeans at lee.com are 30% off til tomorrow with free shipping. Very cool. Tom loves my black pinstripe trouser pants, Barb!

Good morning/afternoon. We are on our way out shortly. I wanted to say hello. I'm afraid everyone is mad at me for not doing the list well enough. I'm having Chinese food today and am planning on doing step one for 3-4 days to clean out starting tomorrow. Unless anyone thinks that is a bad idea. I'll talk to everyone later. I hope there aren't too many accidents in this weather and people out shopping.

Lisa - praying for Tom's mom, and you guys too...hopefully an adjustment to meds is all that will be needed. Thanks for the heads up on the Lee jeans!!

Nell - why in the world would anyone be mad at you? You did us all a big favor putting that list together!! Just one number left off of Jocelyns zip code...NO BIG DEAL!! We all love you!! I think Diane said a return to step 1 should be 10 days, to get L and P to settle back down...but thats after 3 slip ups, so if you cheat this once, I dont think you need to go back at all!! JMHO!

Hi all. Not much going on here. Just in a really nasty mood again. Won't go into details. Just can't understand why people can't clean up after themselves.

Nell, please don't feel as though we are upset over the list!! You did an excellent job on it. I think we have appointed you as our MM secretary. Hope you don't mind :thumbsup2

Lisa, keeping Tom's mom and your family in my prayers. I hope it ends up being nothing more than indigestion or something like that.

Really gloomy and rainy today, but it did warm up into the 40s. Feels like 60s though LOL.

I'll catch up with you all later. Have a great afternoon everyone!!

Hi All--quick catch up, busy weekend! Moms back in the hospital for her atrial fibulation (racing heart). Getting her meds straightened out. she feels good, just bored!

Lisa--hope your mil is doing better and they get her meds right (its an ongoing thing with my mom these days)--loved the card!!

Robin--glad to hear Dennis is home!

Nell--I know what you mean about giving this time of year--the A&P food store usually has a tree with names of kids who are needy and I haven't been shopping there lately so I'm going over there tomorrow to get a name or two just to do something little this year. finances are much tighter this year

have a good night all!

stirring the pot---did anyone else get that Diane talked about all the good things about splenda and all the bad things about stevia? hmmmm..... opinions please

Hi Natalie - hope mom is doing better soon...it must be tough for her, especially during the holidays. I read the blog thing too, but I have always just stuck to the Splenda since reading my MM book the first time. I try not to use ANY sweeteners and stay AWAY from aspartame...dont know much about the Stevia, but hadnt really heard anything GOOD about it...I know some folks here use it, but Im thinking its maybe best to stay away? I know they say bad things about Splenda too sometimes, but it seems to be the best one in general.:confused3

So generous of you to try to help the needy kids even though times are tough...hard for me too this year after a 2 month layoff back in february, but I just dont feel right if I dont try to do whatever I can...so many more folks having a hard time this year...I hear the soup kitchens and open pantries are just overwhelmed with requests. I would rather do for someone who is so worse off than I am...I really dont want or need a THING anyway...my family, friends, Ken, and you MM's are plenty for me this year!!

Heading to bed early tonight like a good Pony! We have our Team Christmas lunch tomorrow at O'Charleys, and we ordered ahead, so lunch for me will be a chicken caesar salad with no dressing, while the others chow down on who knows what fattening goodies!! Im actually looking quite forward to that salad!! LOL, I realized today that my jeans seem pretty baggy today, and the sweatshirt I had on definitely felt "roomy"...so might take a stab at weighing myself at the gym tomorrow night! Did I mention how much I LOVE step 1 ??? :lmao:

I would say Diane definitley prefers Splenda!!! I have purchased stevia and have not been overly fond of the taste. I don't think Truvia is very sweet at all. I have a bottle of liquid stevia in the refrgerator and have not opened it yet!! Not sure why??? A lot of low carb plans count 24 carbs for a cup of Splenda, but appearantly she doesn't. I certainly like the way it acts in baked goods and have not had great luck with some of the other things. The only things I have made lately are the pumpkin pie recipe of hers and the gingerbread muffins. I put a bit of erytherol in them since I have it, but not sure it would be any different with just Splenda. A couple of the low carb recipe people - Dana Carpender for one - likes a bit of sugar alcohol in her sweets to give them better texture.

I do love cottage cheese with cinnamon and a bit of Splenda. That is my favorite morning and before bed snack.

Just received this e-mail from Gena which she asked me to post here for her, as she couldnt log into the site today. Just to let you all know that I responded that she should NOT be sorry, and just enjoy the cards she receives...as we know what a difficult time she is having these days...

Robin,

I tried to get on the MM website and said I was logged on but still couldn't post. Please copy and paste this for me.

Dear MM Warriors,

I must apologize for putting my name on the Christmas list as I will not be able to get cards out. The last two months have been awful to say the least. The week of Thanksgiving my Dad could no longer get out of bed due to weakness. He had not eaten all week. I was getting a neighbor and my husband to go out twice a day to lift him up and change sheets. On that Friday I went to the Ranch and called the ambulance . He was furious with me and I told him if he could get up I would cancel it. When they arrived I gave them my power of attorney so they took him on to the hospital. He was there 5 days..........biggest problem malnutrition, dehydration, and low potassium. Nothing major that they have found yet. Has lost 50 pounds in the last 4 months. From there we went to the nursing home. He continues to get stronger which is good but is having lots of confusion. In the hospital he was hallucinating due to all the drinking. I hope he gets better, but not too good or he can check himself out and this madness starts all over again. Besides going to see him once or twice if needed I go to his ranch to pay bills and do other things. I am hanging on to what sanity I have with God's Grace and nothing else.

I hope everyone has a Happy Safe Holiday. Thank you Robin for posting this. I hope Ken gets home soon!!

Good Evening - its early evening here.

I survived being awakened at 5 AM by the fireworks and then all the yelling as the runners were encouraged on in front of our place. Very noisy!!

I did get my swim in this morning after they opened part of the road, but then had a very difficult time getting home as they didn't have streets opened that were supposed to be!!! Only in Hawaii. I finally talked some policemen into moving cones so I could get back.

Lisa and Natalie - I hope your mother/mother-in-law are feeling better by now and that the meds can get sorted out.

I spent about 8 hours yesterday trying to put together a picture collage and was not getting what I wanted at all. :surfweb: I finally discovered I could do it in Picasa and came up with something. It turned out to be fun after the frustration. The pictures were taken between January and May of this year. I don't have any recent ones. I guess I should have had one taken so we could see if there is a difference in our looks!! The pictures are more about locations and activities, though.

Nell - why do you want to go back to step 1? :confused3 Do you think we need company? You seem to be doing so well on step 2. NO ONE is upset with the address list. You did a wonderful job. Just add a 5 to my zip and it will be fine.

Hello to everyone else. I hope you are all busy with your families and not getting too stressed or are not snowed in somewhere!!!

Hugs to ALL:grouphug:

I had a somewhat productive weekend. I finished a duvet that I was making for my DD18 for Christmas and I made an apron for my DD25 with her cake making business name embroidered on it. They both turned out well, but the duvet was s/w of a hassle. I made it from 2 sheets, one of which was of the Disney Princesses and I had to cut the border off and sew it to the other end as it was sewn on upside down to the print that was on the sheet. If you were laying in bed and picked your head up to look at the sheet, the figures would be right side up. If you are just looking at the bed, they are wrong side up to the border. Weird!
Have had the CD player on while I'm sewing and enjoyed listening to Christmas carols. We have a CD called The Christmas Rap in which someone (I think they recorded this in a garage someplace) reworked all your favorite carols to a rap beat complete with record scratching and lip popping. I used to have issues with this one, but it has grown on me and now the songs get stuck in my head and it's not too annoying. I don't know if this is good or not. LOL :rockband: I have been wanting to use this smiley for a long time!

Natalie and Lisa, hope your mothers are back home and doing well.

Nell, We are allowed 2 mess-ups in a week before having to go back to step1. Your Chinese food today would count as 1. Hope it was good and that you had a fun time!

Have to work tomorrow morning and then spend the afternoon volunteering at the food bank. Will check in when I get home.

Have a great Monday,

Carol

Feast upon the Words of Christ

I just put a cookie recipe up on the recipe thread that sounded good. If I can stand long enough I will try and make them tomorrow. They won't be for everyone as they have coconut in them, but for the rest of us - they do sound good.

Carol - you have been busy!! I used to do things like that, but not now. It is really nice to accomplish something like that, though.

Have a great Monday

Hey everyone! :grouphug: I thought I'd explained that I've been missing carb dams and now today had Chinese food. I stuck with what should be allowed, but I'm craving like crazy tonight, so I think there was something I shouldn't have had. I could have sworn that Diane mentioned something about going on step one for 3 days in certain instances. I'm going to look it back over. I think it's in the blog. If it has to be ten, so be it. It's not that I've been cheating, it's just that I think I've gotten my system off whack and I need to refresh a bit. Not a punishment by any means. I'll check the blog. I hope everyone is well today! Carol and Jocelyn, your projects both sound like fun! Talk to everyone tomorrow I hope.

:surfweb:Good Morning All! The sunshine has returned to central Virginia, so I am much happier this morning!! Still chilly, but at least I dont have to haul a bunch of gifts in the rain to my Team Lunch today...Whew.

Nell - Im so sorry, I had forgotten that you mentioned you were missing carb dams too...Im not at all surprised you got a bit off schedule with your folks there and the general craziness with going to Tampa, etc. I think Diane said something about 3 days for those that pigged out at Thanksgiving over a couple day period...not sure though, so researching her blog would definitely be the thing to do! Im sure you will do what feels best for you!! Hope you had a good time and the chinese food was yummy!

Carol - OMG! Christmas Rap? I was so surprised to hear that from you of all people!! LOL, just goes to show that keeping an open mind can open us up to a myriad of possibilities!! I cant see how they could add violence, sex or crime to a christmas song, so Im sure the catchy beat must be what sticks in your head!! Congrats on finishing your sewing projects on time...I had all sorts of ideas for embroidery projects but didnt even begin them as I knew they would never be done in time. Maybe I can start them now for next year!!

Jocelyn - good job with your collage!! Cant wait to visit Hawaii, the land of great weather and no bugs!:)

Lisa, Natalie, Kate - hope MIL, Mom and Niece are feeling better today!

Gena - if you manage to get back online and at least stop in here to read, we are hoping and praying for relief to your ongoing situation with your Dad...hang in there!

Thanks to everyone for prayers for my MIL yesterday. She's back in her care home and seems to be fine. She'll have to see her doctor again. She has dementia and it has been so hard for Tom to tell her that her husband has been dead for over 20 years. She insisted she saw him yesterday and refused to leave the hospital until he came for her. She yelled at Tom. I suspect my dear FIL might be coming to help her with her transition. I've seen this before and I think it might be true.

Gena, don't worry about the cards. There are many years when I've had much less to deal with and not mailed cards. We are all praying for you and your Dad. Take care of yourself, please.

Nell, happy researching!

Have a great day everyone! I have to bake cookies for the neighborhood today, but I feel strong about it!
