MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Sorry I've been mia ladies. We went to the VA in Tampa today, then I came home and slept for 8 hours. Tonight my farmer has been on facebook almost all night.

Sharron Lee, I hear you about getting a move on. Christmas is coming up fast, isn't it. I have an idea to put my little ceramic houses in my new little sitting garden and light them up. They aren't expensive houses, just the 99 cent kind that Walgreens carries every year. I bet it would be pretty. Thank you also for the wonderful e-card you sent. It made me weepy in a good way.

I have all of your cards ready but can't afford stamps right now. What irony. Worse case scenario you'll get them after Christmas, but before little Christmas. (Jan 6th) We celebrate both.

Kate, I'm so sorry your niece is still in such a shape. I'll keep praying for her. I hope your weather improves soon also.

Thanks Beverly. I have no idea why not getting this job hit me so badly. It wasn't just paying living expenses I think that got me. The thing I miss most right now is not being able to be generous with others. Especially during Christmas, it gives me an excuse to give extra. I can still bring my grapefruit to the food bank when it finishes ripening. I love to do things like send surprise packages to friends and family and not take credit for it and send out letters and cards. I thought I had this job and having it symbolized being able to do those things again.

Barb, I love those electric starters for the car in the cold weather! What a great idea for Beverly. Especially if your car needs to warm up before the heater works.:car:

Lisa, I think that any fog I've experienced has been frozen fog. It can be scary because the car headlights reflect on it. I will pray for safe travels for all of us!

Pony, I'm glad your able to sleep well. I'm also glad that step one is agreeing with you.

Kathy, I actually like the taste of coconut oil. I have used it instead of butter on toast. I need to try these muffins before long. I keep meaning to.

Beverly, quite funny with the donuts and Danish getting "behind" you!:rotfl:

Barb, hysterical about Lisa leaving her age off the card!:lmao:

Lisa, I love the way you go on about Bonnie. One of the best things about your personality is that you love hard! I was telling Marti about Bonnie watching TV when we were reading the card.

Kathy, reindeer ears on dogs are only animal abuse if they are embarrassed. :) If he was into it then I'd get him a fur ruffle too! Take photos of him and the ears while your doing the tree!:santa:

Pony, it's amazing how this way of eating has gotten our cravings under control. I don't think it's weird about the pizza because we are all living with how this is working. I'm really grateful though and glad you finally got your pizza!

Good to see you Carol and I am glad your internet is working again!

Pony, I got Lisa's card today also, so I'm sure you'll get it tomorrow. When we lived up in Houlton our mail was always a day later than everyone else's.

Ok, that last post was long. Sorry. I've really bloated from what I think is stress. I'm really grateful to know that my body size isn't because I'm good or bad but a reflection of my hormones. I have missed some of my carb dams also. Sunday I'm going to a Chinese food buffet with friends. While I am planning to stay with meats and stuff that is legal, I think the salts and spices used make it borderline legal, especially where I've been missing some of my carb dams. I think on Monday I'm going to start a short step one stint to clear things out then right back on two. I don't like step one as much as Pony does. :)

Here you go. 96801

It's actually 96815

Busy, busy the last few days and late now so am quickly reading the posts before bed. I should have more time tomorrow evening.

Nell, so sorry about the job.

Kate - do hope the main problem with your niece is solved and she will be on her way to good health again.

We have been to friends' homes for dinner every night lately. They all know we like low carb, but since it is the holidays they think we are on vacation from our way of eating. UGH!!! Even a taste of sweet is toooo sweet. I think the rest of the meals out will be in restaurants so at least we can choose what we want!

Til tomorrow:love:

Good morning everyone! Short and sweet this morning.
Jocelyn, thanks for the zip code. I am heading to the post office this morning to get all my stamps. I am so excited for you all to get your cards. I owe you all a huge thank you! I always wanted to send out cards, but never seemed to get around to it. Because of you all, I have them all ready to go. All 55 of them!! Mike said his relatives will drop over dead because we sent them out LOL.

Robin, glad Dennis got home finally. I will continue the prayers for him.

Ok, getting a shower, then to start my running. May go to Monroeville today. There is a huge craft store there that isn't too expensive, so we usually get Alyssa her art supplies and such there. There is a lighted stand kind of thing that architects use that Mike wants to get her. She is a very talented artist.

Ok, catch up with you all later! Heat wave today, 37* and rain. Sunny right now and feeling good!!

Oh Oh. My card address list has it wrong then :sad2: I wonder if my card will reach you. I'll send another just to be safe.

Here is the link to photobucket (couldn't get FB to download it) sorry not the best quality. The still photos, he has his coat on LOL

Phooey! I had Jocelyn's zip code wrong too! I hope there aren't too many in the area and the post office will figure it out?? Jocelyn, it's nice you have so many friends to spend time with. You are so savvy with the low carb lifestyle, you're probably doing pretty well. Isn't it weird how people think a little bit of something won't hurt us - it sure adds up!

Nell: I love your idea about the village in the garden! I'm so sorry it's a difficult holiday season for you this year. You'll get a great job soon and it will be the perfect one for you.

Barb: That is EXCITING about MM reducing our 'real age' I love it! Just in the nick of time, lol!:rotfl:

I told Tom next year we should try to find that same rock and take another skinny picture:) We had a hard time getting Bonnie to be still in just the right place. The guys are handsome, too, but the sun made them a bit squinty. I thought the pic was natural, though. My sister took it. She lives about 10 minutes south of there. Lucky, huh?

Good morning/afternoon everyone! I made my breakfast yogurt chocolate this morning! I lost a few pounds of bloat this morning so I'm thinking I have to up my water intake. Last night I figured out I was thirsty and drank tons of iced tea and water.

Kathy, I've got to tell you Tyson looks adorable! Marti says she's calling the spca on you though.

I'm going to continue praying for Dennis and Kate's niece. As well as Natalie's mom and all of us and our families.

Jocelyn, if I am the one that messed up the zip code I am grievously sorry. I truly hope your cards reach you on time.

Oh, by the way. One of my favorite Christmas movies is coming on tonight on Lifetime. In case it's other people's favorite I thought I'd mention it. "Comfort and Joy" with Nancy McKeon. I believe it's 9pm est. but I don't know how they do that with other time zones.

Checking in quick...been at work for almost 6 hours already, but first chance to pop in...

Jocelyn - glad to see you back, wondered where you were! I agree that so many things taste too sweet now...amazing what this WOE has done...the pizza I wanted so badly didnt really make me as happy as I thought it would!!

Nell - hope all went well in Tampa yesterday and Marti got some good news? I think your houses lit up would be beautiful!

Kathy - LOL, 37 degrees is a heat wave? Have fun shopping and thanks for continued prayers for Dennis...You too Barb and Nell!

LOL, Tyson is hysterical in those antlers!

Carol, I discovered the nice post I wrote you yesterday is missing. I think I deleted it in Word thinking I had pasted it already. Know that I am thinking about you and praying for a good outcome with your conversation.

Hi Nell, looks like everyone is busy...darn, I have been totally bored the past hour and still have an hour left to go! Have to stop at CVS, then wanted to stop and visit Dennis since he is home from the hospital finally, but will have to watch the weather, since I dont want to have to drive in the ice! they say its not going to start til after 10pm, so that wont really leave me any visiting time. What are you up to this evening? I have to pick up the B-100 Diane told me to start taking for the cortisol issue, and thought I would get some of the 99mg potassium too. I have a coupon for CVS that expires tomorrow, so might as well use it and get the $5 off. oops, have to get the phone!

$5 off is a great coupon! I think it's worth it to stop tonight. If the weather gets bad please be careful!

Dear Nell, do not worry. I didn't even notice it. As long as the street and town are on there it should be fine. It takes a few extra days to get here and I have already recieved a few, so it must be OK. Please don't worry about not sending out cards. Postage is VERY expensive these days. The fact that we all chat here daily makes it seem like we see each other all the time, anyhow.

I was supposed to go to a lovely Christmas luncheon and play bridge with Bob afterwards, but was having such a bad back day he got one of his partners to fill in for me. There was no way I could sit for 6 or more hours. Oh well..., but I was dissapointed. So..I have spent most of the afternoon trying to put together a collection of pictures and so far I have failed.:confused3 I was trying to do it in Word so I could add some text and print it out. Now I have gone to Picasa and am downloading some pictures there and I will see what I can do.

Tomorrow is the Honolulu Marathon. We will have 23,000+ running by our house. We are trapped until after 9 AM so Bob will have to walk to the place he needs to be by 8:30. The fireworks will go off at 5AM and then the screaming as they come by will start a bit after that. The winner comes back by 7:20 or so. It is quite impressive to see whoever wins as they fly by with police escort, etc. Talk about being lean and mean!! Not an ounce of fat anywhere on their bodies!!!! The day is supposed to be perfect so might be able to break some records. It was very windy last year and that affected their times.

Lisa, we might be pros at low carb and most of our friends know that is how we like to eat, but they assume that since we have come to their homes it is a special occasion and our diets have flown out the window. It is really hard with small groups. I much prefer going to a restaurant and then I can order what I want. It isn't critical and a taste of potato, etc is fine, but this has been an every night thing for the past few days!!!! I got on the scale this morning and did not like it! We are home for the next few nights, thank goodness. It is all water weight as that is what you hold onto when you up the carbs so it does go away. At least is hasn't triggered any cravings. Our dinner a few nights ago was at a doctor's house. He says when he wants to lose weight he just eats about 500 calories for a few days, his appetite diminishes and the he stays that way until he gets to where he wants to be. I didn't get into a discussion about diets with him!!! He favored low fat, I know. He is retired now.

Robin - hope you got home safe and sound.

Take care everyone.

Thanks Jocelyn and Nell, I am home safely, no ice as of yet...decided to skip CVS since I have to do groceries tomorrow anyway and the coupon is good til tomorrow. CVS is right across from the gym and the grocery store, so it will be a 3-stop Sunday afternoon for me after church!

Going to bed like a good Pony to keep my cortisol at bay! Hope you guys have a great night and a better Sunday! Love you all!

Robin: Tom is taking potassium with iodine, and mainly got it for the iodine since he tested low in it, but maybe they should to together?? If you are able, maybe pull up some research. I was shocked when I saw all the things low iodine can affect. They did a skin test on Tom for the iodine and it was supposed to last 24 hours if you have enough. His faded in about 4 hours. I think I kept the hand out they gave us, if you want it.

Jocelyn: I'm glad you can get in control of your own menu for the next few days. That's hard! My friend wanted to go out for Indian food on Tuesday night, but I said I need to know what's in the food for now and how to count the quanities. I don't think I could count the carbs well there. We're going to Macaroni Grill instead. They have items I can figure out pretty well.

Lisa, where do you get skin tests? Are they expensive?

Good morning everyone!! Not much going on here today again. Have to go to work for a bit later, but need to wait at least a couple hours. We are getting the freezing rain Robin spoke of last night. Pittsburgh has shut down at least 2 main roads going into the city due to the conditions being so bad. I need to pop my head out the door to see how bad it is here. If it's bad, I'll put some urea down. We don't use salt because of Tyson's paws. They are showing pictures of Pittsburgh on the news, and there is cars/trucks and such all along the sides of the roads. It looks pretty bad.

Robin, glad you made it home ok last night. Please give Dennis my reguards when you see him. Make sure you take that coupon!! And check to see if they have any of the monthly flyers out or ask for them. They sometimes put coupons in there too or run store brand or Nature's Bounty vitamins BOGO free.

Ok, heading outside. Hoping it's just rain, but we are hovering around 35* so could be nasty or just plain rain. Radar is showing freezing rain :(

Well, it is just plain NASTY out there this morning! Kathy, ours is mostly rain now, but it is only 26 degrees on our thermometer so have no idea why its not snowing instead? Its kind of icy on the porch and stair railings, but none on the cars yet, so I cant quite figure it out! We only use the pet friendly ice melters too, due to Harley's paws...so I put some out on the side deck we use to go out to the driveway. Think I will wait a bit before attempting to venture out for the newspaper! be careful if you go out!! :scared1:

Thanks for thinking of Dennis, I have let them know what a wonderful group we have here and all the prayers going out for them.

Nell - Im curious about the skin tests too...my doc has never mentioned anything like that so its going on my list for her in Jan.

Lisa - did Tom have some symptoms that lead to the iodine testing? I think I will go research that now!! Thanks! BTW, got your card yesterday and it is so nice! You are all such a lovely family and Bonnie is gorgeous!!
