MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Natalie: Personally, I think this is a pot that needs to be stirred deep and often. I have no problem with anyone's personal choice of greetings. It was never an issue until the efforts to erase any mention of Christmas or Christ. If we don't start to fight back, soon there won't be anything left of the traditions and values this wonderful country was founded on.

I have several friends that are Jews, I also know people that are not religious and none of them are offended if I say Merry Christmas. In fact all the Jews I know celebrate with their Christian friends, just as we have joined in their celebrations. Most people respect others traditions even if they don't share the beliefs.

It's people that have no joy or hope in their lives that want to rob everyone else. Sorry, it's one of my hot buttons!

SharronLee

this is such a sticky subject--if someone wants to believe something differnt from me, I'm perfectly fine with that (though I wish everyone had a relationship with Christ!) just don't make me compromise what I believe for it, don't make me change how I celebrate it. We walk on eggshells ALL THE TIME about so many subjects. I was watching Saturday Night Live on Saturday and they had a spoof about Tiger Woods and his wife, the comedian who portrayed him was talking like he 'fell down the stairs' at home and stuff like that but the actress portraying his wife was standing there with a golf club in her hands like we can see she really beat him. I thought nothing of it until this morning on AOL they've got a news story about how inappropriate that was. and it makes sense--if the tables were turned and it was Tiger who beat his wife we wouldn't be making fun of it. AND the singer Rhianna was on there too and she recently went through getting beat up by her ex boyfriend so that wasn't cool either. I mean, when I look back at it now, it DOES seem wrong. I don't know what to think anymore--I think I'll just stop thinking!!!:headache:

I hope you all stay well! My sweet husband has a very stuffy nose which is why I'm delaying going upstairs - he'll snore tonight and I'll have to crank up my sound machine. I play running water like a babbling brook when he snores. He once dreamed we were in a tsunami, LOL! It was so funny! It usually doesn't bother him - you could scream his name and he wouldn't wake up most of the time. Glad I have my Bonnie to protect me. Off I go then to snore land.

does the sound machine help you? My husband is bad and sleeps on the couch alot--I feel bad (my usual, no wonder I eat) and want him to come back to the bedroom! My foster dog snores too and he loves sleeping with me but I just can't do it anymore!! I do use a fan in the hall for the white noise effect but maybe something next to my head??? funny your husband had that dream!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all got a good night's rest. I slept like a baby other than my dream. It involved a buffalo, hippo, giraffe, and a couple other big animals, a barn and a tornado. Really weird. No animals got hurt LOL. I actually haven't slept that well in a while. All that cleaning yesterday must have been more exercise than I thought!! I got the sweeper run all through the house, while watching the Steeler game went through all my coupons and got rid of all the expired ones, then visited with Mike's sister and her family, then to Walmart and home and in bed by 10!!
Still feeling pretty good. It's just kind of weird. Almost like I'm waiting for the bottom to drop out from under me. I know when I have so many good days, I usually end up paying for it with about a week of exhaustion. :confused3 I am not complaining at all. Just kind of wondering in the back of my head.

As for the big controversy, I don't mind if someone tells me Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. I also believe in keeping Christ in Christmas, but I also like to include all the holidays too. My cards I send out really depend on how well I know the person. If it is an intimate friendship, I will usually send out the Christmas card. If it's "just a friend" it's the happy holidays. So I guess you all will be getting a Christmas card. Hope it's ok.

I got some greek yogurt yesterday, and 9 net carbs per cup, so I use 1/2 cup for 4.5 carbs and a 5x5. It is really good and has 5 live active bacteria cultures in it. It is called Oikos and is made by Stoneyfield Farms. A pint cost me a little over $4, but it is really good. It also has 0 grams of fat!! Here is a link for anyone who wants to check it out:

http://www.stonyfield.com/oikos/index.jsp

Have to get a shower then off to work. Have a great day! I'll catch up later as I finally got Carrie's computer hooked up downstairs, so Mike can now play jungle jewels all he wants LOL.

:santa:

what a crazy dream you had! I get that way too--feel good for a couple days and then whoosh, bad day. Its the CFS, it doesn't like that we're busy. I'm so grateful I work for my husband, if I'm spacey he doesn't really care!!

I hate to sound dramatic - but it's saved my marriage! I got it at Brookstones years ago and it's lasted all this time. There are a lot of sound choices. The ocean waves are pretty, but when they receed, he snores and I wake up, LOL! I like the constant brook sound. Tom tried once to get me a tape of ocean waves. It was on Christmas and I took it for a quick rest before making the rest of dinner. He didn't know it had whale calls on it. I had a nightmare that the children were being attacked! I always say, no birds, no whales - just water!

I didn't know it affected our dreams too! I work in my sleep a lot and I have very vivid dreams. Last night I was taking this woman shopping all over for a wedding dress. It must have been Robin!:bride:

SharronLee, Natalie, Carol, Lisa - I agree with all of you for different reasons, like Sharron, I am absolutely outraged that there are those who are trying to remove Christ from Christmas...it is the day of his BIRTH and there is no way to remove Him from that! If society wants to make that day an all inclusive generic holiday that is fine too, but you CANNOT take Christ out of Christmas, end of story. I also have many jewish friends, and also friends who do NOT believe at all, so the greeting for them of Happy Holidays is inclusive of whatever they choose to celebrate. I believe our ability to celebrate whatever we choose and in whatever MANNER we choose, is part of the great country we live in, and as long as nobody tells me what to believe or how to celebrate it, then Im OK. And I will not judge anyone else's traditions or choices as it is not my place to do so!

I LOVE all my friends, no matter what they choose, and hope that they all enjoy the season in whatever manner makes them happy!

Sharron - STIR THAT POT!! Nobody is offended, and I , for one, am happy to see that so many are willing to open their mouths and speak up on this issue!!

Robin: DITTOS to all you said!!

You are so eloquent and expressed my feelings much better than I can. I am not experienced in communicating with people that don’t know me, so I’m surprised when misunderstood.

I thankfully accept all greetings and good wishes however expressed with no judgment of the sender.

People that know me accept me as I am, a complete Christmas nut that is rather passionate about expressing my belief in our guaranteed freedom of (not from) religion.

Christmas is my favorite time of year. Celebrating the birth of Jesus with music and pageantry fills my heart with joy and hope.

I am also totally in love with the mystique of Santa. :santa: My precious daughter still try’s to protect me from anything that might destroy my belief, so sweet. Working on Secret Santa surprises are fun and to me express the spirit of Christmas.

It’s such a beautiful time of love and good will that it hurts my heart to have controversy or misunderstandings of any kind.

I wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a joyful, love filled holiday season. :grouphug:

Natalie,I have a white noise machine too and it works wonders. It just evens all the noises out and keeps them from spiking into loud rumbles or snorts. Good luck! I too think that we become numb to so many things the media shoves down our throats. I do not value their assessment of what's appropriate or not. I think a lot of the stuff they put on the air is just plain evil and we have become so desensitized to it that we don't even notice. JMHO

Barb, Thanks for the marriage support. My husband is extremely ADD and basically refuses to do any kind of behavior modification to help. The meds didn't work well as they caused bad side affects. He is a sweet guy and I do love him, I just don't really like him at this point and am so tired of being in charge of most everything. We're going out to dinner tonight to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary and I hope to do some serious talking in a neutral zone. He has a big tendency to blow up easily and then nothing gets dealt with. My strategy is that it will be difficult to do this in a restaurant. Wish me luck!

Lisa, Thanks for the list. I have to find a way to open it as my computer doesn't want to do EXCEL. My son-in-law will come home tonight and fix that for me. He is a real great, kind guy and I thank the Lord constantly for blessing my daughter with such a wonderful companion.

Wishing everyone a great Christmas season,
Carol

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Boy, does that sound familiar! When my kids were young, I had to take care of everything and then cope with him not coping, sigh. He's gotten better with age but still difficult. Keeping my thoughts with you tonight

Lisa - weird dreams y'all are having!! LOL, wedding dress shopping wont be too hard...Im as neurotic about my clothes as my food ! :lmao: I dont think I can open Excel either...Hey Nell, can you send me the christmas card list again too! Thanks!

Carol - hoping and praying you have success with your dinner and discussion tonight...I think after trying and trying we finally just get frustrated and figure its easier to just give up. Hopefully the 29 years together are worth whatever it takes to save it....its a jungle out there for the single, especially at our age!!

Barb - sounds like you've had a long road too...kudos to you for being able to make it work! I have a friend whose daughter is married to a bi-polar man and it has been a very trying 3 years for her.

Sharron - I dont believe I am any more eloquent than you! I knew exactly what you meant the first time!!

my mom's feeling better thanks! have you tried the Drew's dressing? is it yummy? I want a few to alternate with

Glad to hear your mother is feeling better.

No, I haven't opened the new salad dressing yet, but it is one of Lisa's favorites. Roasted Garlic certainly sounds yummy. I'll try it later today and let you know what I think, Natalie.

My power cord came on Saturday and we just found it!!! I'm now charging the battery so that I can access it. The addresses are on that computer!!

The last few years we have sent out an e-card. I'm not sure what I am doing this year.

I haven't read all the posts yet to find out if Lisa got snow. We have 3 inches at the California property that is not too far from her. It is supposed to get colder, too. BRRRRR

Robin - glad to hear you are getting some more sleep. It is supposed to make a difference in our overall well being. Hopefully you can get some extra rest on your vacation.

Kathy - hope the feeling great continues.

Nell - what are you going to clean today????

Had to take the car in this AM so am housebound for part of the day!! I'll try cooking up something new, I think. It is also very cloudy out so don't think I will try the pool and would probably get rained on if I tried a short walk.

Off to finish reading the posts.:surfweb:

Speaking of Christmas decorations, I sort of collect angels and Old World Santas and I like to use all angel wrapping paper if I can find it. It's a good thing I bought a lot in years past, because for the last two years I can't find any at all! What is up with that?? I do know of a place I can order online, but if anyone has kids doing a fund raiser this coming year with wrapping paper and they have angels, keep me in mind for an order!:littleangel:

Jocelyn: The schools are closed in San Adreas today for snow! We had snow all night and for a long time this am. It's melted now, but it was fun and the news had hundreds of photos sent in. Really festive.

Well, after a great deal of sweating my boss accepted that the job I told him no on was not realistic. He called me and offered to pay me for the two days that I attempted it and is bringing a different type of office work for me. I was getting scared. Now everything is going to be all right.

I'm making cards. They aren't going to be as fancy as bought cards or printed ones, but I hope you all like them. I'm going to try to make them look a little more sophisticated than a 3rd grader! :rotfl:

Nell - Glad to hear your boss got the message. I'm looking forward to all of my MM cards, no matter how they are made, or what they say. I just love getting Christmas Cards!

I am alive and feeling much better now. The sore throat is almost gone and my energy seems to be coming back too.

Beverly, I got your Christmas card..it's so nice to actually see who "Disney" really is. Now when you talk about your kids, I will have a picture of them in my mind. Looks like you have redheads too. Is your DH one also? Mine is and our four kids have all had red hair with one of them turning to brown as he got older. Great color!

I will get caught up with reading tomorrow. It's our 29 wedding anniversary tonight and I had actually forgotten...no excuse, just not real happy in this marriage. I remembered yesterday and then just kind of spaced it today. He got me a present,,something he rarely ever does so I know he must be feeling he's on shakey ground. I want things to work out but am not able to do it on my own and he hasn't ever been very involved and willing to take an active part in the family. Complain, complain. Thanks for letting me rant a little. This is my one main struggle in my life and I can't seem to get a hold on it very well.

Carol - so glad you are feeling better.

Yes, my DD is a redhead. We're not exactly sure where it comes from. My DH's mustache is the same reddish color, so we know it's from his side of the family. DS is a blonde (like DH). With my brown hair/eyes, it's obvious nobody taught my kids genetics. One blonde, one red, both with blue eyes. Gotta love diversity!

Sorry you are struggling in your marriage. I was lucky enough to get a wonderful husband, and I'm not trading him in. Our standing joke was that whoever left the marriage had to take the kids :scared1:, thus we were guaranteed an additional 18 years after the youngest was born! :rotfl2:

Jocelyn: The schools are closed in San Adreas today for snow! We had snow all night and for a long time this am. It's melted now, but it was fun and the news had hundreds of photos sent in. Really festive.

We had our first snow this a.m. also. It's all gone now, but looked so pretty when I got up. Of course we're used to it here, so we very seldom close schools due to snow. We might close due to extreme cold, but not snow! I'm going to go clean up for a bit. The boy scouts are coming to my house before a merit badge meeting, so I need to pick up a bit.

I'll try to check in after Zumba! Have a great afternoon/evening.

Lisa, Your decorations are beautiful, love your Santa and the bears are adorable!

I love the "old world" look, it's so elegant!
