MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

I was supposed to go back to her after 8 weeks on step one but I couldn't make it and now I'm thinking of using the money for my fibro/cfs. I'm reading so much about that new retrovirus they've found the XMRV that they have found to cause cfs. I'll post websites. Taking a bunch of supplements now--sleeping better on cal/mag at night before bed. the research is saying they see a link from this retrovirus to cfs AND autism!! this could explain alot about my son!! my brain hurts though............much love to you, keep doing what you're doing-its working for you:love:

Natalie: Is there a cure for this virus yet??!! I appreciate you so much for doing all of this research. You are worth it!

Lisa - I got a call from a woman at the Rachel Ray show and she asked if I would be interested in a segment on Fun Fashion. She said on Thursday they're taping a segment on fashions for the holidays that people of every body type can wear. She asked my height, body type and what part of my body I look to camouflage. I said my stomach and she said 'that's what everybody says!'. She said she was in preliminary plans and would get back to me. So... if I get to be part of that it will be easy to spot me! :happytv:

That is soooo cool! I bet you would get to keep new clothes, too! :cool1:

Jocelyn: What cheese crackers? I would love the recipe, if we don’t have it.

I got my Polyner in today! Greek yogurt with the blackberry swirled in convinced me even further that I love Step 2 and it keeps me motivated not to cheat so I don’t have to serve time on Step 1 without my simple pleasures, lol! Tonight we had leftovers and I had a turkey taco meat tortilla with ¼ cup black beans, rf Mex. cheese, etc. It was fantastic and only about 13 carbs.

I do stay on the low end of the carbs 11- 15 unless I stick on a piece of dark chocolate for dessert sometimes.

I need to go to my doc and have that test Natalie was talking about.

Tomorrow is my MIL’s 85th birthday. She isn’t very well. We’re having a family party so I won’t be around much. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Oh, I forgot to say that I adore Spanx - they are a gift from heaven! The best thing I have invested in is a black spanx half slip. It is very slimming and doesn't feel as compressed as the power panties so you can wear it all day under a dress. Gets rid of the bit of tummy and holds the bootay still!:worship:

Hi Nell – yes, we all have a lot to be thankful for when we hear the serious health problems of Robin’ friends, Kate’s niece and Natalie’s mother. Just hang in there. Do you have an option of where you can go to school?

Yes, I will know for certain in a week or two. It looks like I'm going to do one more semester at the University of Maine and try to finish my associates degree if I can. Then start nursing school in September. That all depends on the financial aid long distance. If that doesn't work out my second plan is to go ahead and start nursing school in March. I need to get some extra funds set up for that, so it's a little paperwork. Either way I'll be in school shortly and heading as quickly as I possibly can for a career. Good night everyone.:grouphug:

Good morning everyone!! I have 2 words for today. SNOW SHOWERS LOL. I don't think there is to be an accumulation. I have a funny feeling this may be a hard winter. We are long over due for one.

Spent the day with mom at the mall yesterday. Figured housework will always be here, mom is more important. I survived LOL. As you all know, I just don't like shopping that much. But she enjoyed it, so it was worth it. Ran into Tristan at Penny's so that was an unexpected surprise for sure!

Not much going on here today. Mike hogged the computer for the last 2 days, so Carrie's computer will be downstairs today for sure!!

Diane, that is awesome about going on the show. I don't really watch Rachael Rae, but will if I can see you strut your stuff!! You go girl!!!! I do like Ellen though LOL.

Off to drink my mug of cappuccino then some laundry and such. Going to try to get my tree today.

I'll catch up later everyone!!

Early morning....yawn....already at work and wondering why Im not back home snuggled up in bed! Its raining HARD, very cold, and we might even get a couple inches of snow later on today!! OMG, I am in Virginia, right? Kathy, I thought maybe I woke up in PA this morning! LOL

Jocelyn - glad to hear your carb comments, and I think I AM the only one here that is Type 2 diabetic. Over at LCF it was GeorgiaLee and I who were those having blood sugar issues, and BOTH of us who had such great drops in sugar on step 1! I still havent heard from Diane, but my thoughts are to return to step 1, because it worked for me both in sugar and in losses, whereas step 2 does not! There are plenty of carbs available on step 1 so I dont feel like it will be unhealthy for me to stay there awhile.

Lisa - I dont have any spanx, but now I am seriously thinking I need some!! Glad you got your Polaners...isnt it yummy? I put mine in my plain yogurt and in my ricotta with PB too!!

Nell - are you able to do your schooling all online? thats great for you...Nationwide will pay for $5500 a years worth of classes for me, so maybe I need to look into that...they use several online universities and will pay for any type of classes.

Well, have to actually go take some phone calls...let the craziness begin!

Good Saturday Morning MM Warriors!

It's cold and dreary here too. I've wanted some sunny days in the 60's to enjoy working outside, but as usual we went from mid 70's to 40's overnite. Suppose to freeze tonite so have to get out and move my plants. My yellow hibiscus and buttercups are still blooming, been covering them at nite to keep them going as long as possible, but 30 requires more protection. Have to get some pretty indoor plants. Hate winter without pretty flowers!

Been MIA for awhile. Tried to keep up with everybody but haven't had time to post. So very sorry for all the illness, been saying prayers for everyone. Seems like everytime I get down, I come here and realize my problems are very minor compared to the things some of you are dealing with.

Sounds like everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and didn't stray too far off plan. I did OK as far as food, but have messed up big time with the timing for the past month or so. Got so busy that I forgot to eat, haven't had any problem craving carbs - just not eating regularly. Haven't gained, just know I've messed up my L&P.

I have to get myself re-focused and go back to Step 1 for at least a month.
Got to get serious, I have a couple of events coming that I want to look presentable for. My dear SIL is retiring from the AirForce and has planned his retirement party for March 16, also their 19th anniversary. So we will be going to OK City - so excited. Also, my 45th class reunion is in May, the weekend of my birthday, so that would be fun. Really want to go this year, skipped the last 2 - didn't want anyone to see me. Seems like every reunion there are more names on the "In Memory of" page, I really need to go this year.

This is such a busy, emotional time of year, I think we all need to take a deep breath and stay the course at least through the holidays.

If you are really bummed, try increasing the amount of lean protein (poultry & fish) and green veggies, reduce the amt of cheese, nuts, etc and beef, choose the lowest carbs (step 2) for a couple of weeks to see if you can "kick-start" the losses before Christmas.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Take care and God Bless you all.

SharronLee

Hi again! Just stopped in to report it is now snowing a bit more, and starting to lay on the ground. I'll go out this afternoon and take some photos with my phone and post so some of you can enjoy the snow too.

Sharron, so glad to see you!! Glad to hear all is going well with the plan, or at least as well as we can expect this time of year LOL. Stop in when you have time. Missed you.

Ok, going to start making room for my tree. Don't know if it's the vit. D I am taking more of, or what, but feeling great today!! I am almost afraid to feel this good because I fear tomorrow or the next day I'll be tired and depressed again. One day at a time and I'll do fine!!

Later everyone!
P.S. does anyone have any low carb magazines/recipes I could subscribe to in the mail or buy at the store? Just wondering. Thanks!!!!

Hi SharronLee - nice to see you back here to visit us! Your flowers are beautiful, I hope you can save them a little longer!! Hope you make it to your reunion, I never go to mine since its so far away (in the midwest) and sure wouldnt want to now...maybe after another 6 months of MM! LOL

Kathy - snowed hard here for about an hour, then changed back to rain...I guess it was kinda nice to see the flakes falling through the office window, but Im also glad I dont have to drive in it later tonight!! so glad you are feeling good today!

Having a hankering (is that even a word?) for a pizza again...dont know why, but thats the only thing I really miss, and none of the "faux pizza" recipes can substitute for the real thing!! Guess I will just have an Atkins shake and forget about it...it will go away, it always does!!

Robin, when I was eating that lc tortilla last night with all the good stuff in it I told Tom this would make a good substitute for pizza. There would be any number of combinations of stuffings. Not the same, but all the toppings are ok inside so I bet it tastes pretty good!

Robin, when I feel that hankering for pizza, I have a couple "slices" of one I make for Mike. I just don't eat the crust. I find I am usually just hungry for the sauce and melted cheese. Not even any kind of toppings. Maybe get a cheap one at walmart and try that.

Just got back from a walk with Tyson. He had fun chasing snowballs. It's only around 34*, so I wore the cuddle duds. Should have worn my trench coat too, but still not too bad.

Later everyone!!

Woo Hoo Diane! Let us know if you'll be on RR Show. We'll watch for sure.

Sharron - glad to see you. Hope you can enjoy your flowers. I brought in some plants to try to winter in the basement. I hope it works.

Bob and the kids had pizza the other night. I did sneak a bit of the sausage. It was pretty good.

Robin, when I was eating that lc tortilla last night with all the good stuff in it I told Tom this would make a good substitute for pizza. There would be any number of combinations of stuffings. Not the same, but all the toppings are ok inside so I bet it tastes pretty good!

Good idea Lisa! Enjoy your MIL's b-day party today.

Kathy - sounds like a great day for you.

DD and I have to go frost the gingerbread men we made for tomorrow brunch at the club. See you later.

It's 58 degrees today, and going into the 40's tonight! I'm loving it! :cool1::woohoo::cool1:

Pony, the only thing with online classes is that you should have access to high speed to download stuff and turn in assignments. If you use one of those little pin drive reusable disks though, it's possible to do the stuff like that in a visit to a library. Having a hankering is a southerneese term. I believe when something is used commonly long enough, it makes it into the dictionary. My spell check isn't highlighting it so I'm guessing it's made it! :lmao: So we determine what the words are! I use different southerneese terms because my dad grew up in Texas.

Sharron Lee, I find that if I increase my protein and veggies, I lose fat quicker. Kind of bizarre, yet it works. Who would have thought? I think that your right about it being an emotional and difficult time of year. On top of our normally crazy hormones. Sometimes being happy and content will make me want to eat more. It's easy to fall back into the old thinking about food that I don't need to hold onto anymore and the more things are in flux, the more likely I am to go there. Staying the course is a great mantra to keep in mind for me.

Diane, that would be so cool if you got on the show! I would definitely have to see it!:happytv: (sorry about the laughing, it's the only TV smiley)

Beverly, have fun with your decorating!:banana::banana:

Well, not to stir up another hornets nest, but Diane has spoken...and she says that she has also added a new entry to the MM website blog after reading my e-mail!! Havent gone there to read it yet though...

She says there are only 3 things that cause belly fat...imbalance of insulin, cortisol or thyroid. Those without any of these imbalances are the ones who will see the belly roll deflate very quickly on MM.

So...if my morning sugar is still high, and my belly roll is not deflating, then my liver is releasing during the night, and stopping my middle of the night feedings definitely wont help that! She said my pancreas is probably fired up and that for some people with these type issues, step 1 is definitely the place to be for a longer period of time. She said it is NOT unhealthy to remain on step 1 for a long time, but that most people get bored with the limitations and dont stick to the plan, so the 8 weeks of step 1 she recommends for the MAJORITY of people is enough to fully rest the liver and pancreas. Obviously in my case it was NOT long enough, so back to step 1 I go, for an indefinite period of time.

She suggested specific thyroid and insulin bloodwork, which I will get done in January at my doc appt. and it seems that she also agrees that thyroid may indeed be an issue for me. She assures me I am doing everything RIGHT, especially my gym time, and that the hitch isnt coming from me, but from inside my body. She feels that after these tests, we will have a much better idea how to deal with it, and hopefully get my losses kicked in again!

Whew!! so back to step 1 I go, and believe me I am thrilled and relieved to be back there!!

heading off to go read the blog entry, she told me she was posting it after she sent her e-mail to me...

Hmmm, per Diane's blog, Insulin, thyroid, stress, pain can cause weight loss stall and/or belly fat. I just had thyroid and insulin levels checked and Dr. said they were normal. Stress isn't bad, pain is manageable. So, I'm wondering if when I went on step2 my insulin went back out of whack and that's why my waist kept growing :confused3
Pony, I guess you'll have to wait until January to see if thyroid is a problem. By that time, your return to step1 should have taken care of you BS problems. Welcome back to step1 :)

I went to World Market today and found every sugar free Torani syrup a girl could want. Gingerbread, Caramel, Raspberry, Black Cherry and English Toffee. Hubby asked what I was going to do with all of it while he lugged it around. I told him the possibilities are endless

I'll check in later

Good morning everyone!! I hope all is well.

Robin, so glad Diane more or less confirmed what we all were thinking. I will head over to the blog after this and read what all she has to say. Now have that "nice" little talk with your L&P and tell them they had better listen this time!!

Wasn't on last night due to our friends getting tickets to the Johnny Kosta Boxing Invitational at one of our local schools. It was amateur boxing, but really good. Lasted about 4 hours with colleges coming from as far away as West Point Army. They came quite a ways as they are located about 50 miles north of New York, NY! Also Penn State came a good ways too. And of course IUP. There were a couple of high school seniors who boxed (they were girls too!) along with a couple of elementary students. They were extremely good. They will be kicking butt for sure when they get older. We had ring side seats, and it was awesome. The only thing better would be UFC LOL. I took a video with my phone, so may post it to FB. Kosta was highly recognized in boxing, and coached boxing here at Indiana.

Well, I'll check in later. Not sure if I'll be heading out for a walk this morning. It's a balmy 26* out LOL. I would like to maybe a bit later though.
Have a great day everyone!!

December 5, 2009...."Ho Ho How do I make that scale move faster?"

After Thanksgiving, I received email regarding people feeling as if their weight loss progress had stalled. I just wanted to set the record straight regarding weight loss for those with Met B.

-Your fat is not a product of calories in - calories out, it is caused by a genetic hormonal imbalance of the fat gain hormone insulin.

-You cannot measure your progress on this program with frequent weighing as your weight loss is not set by a formula (such as calories in - calories out), it is set by maintaining hormonal balance. Recommended weight loss checks at 8 week intervals. Frequent weighing does not give you an accurate picture of progress.

-Scale loss on the The Miracle is not a matter of traditional weight loss (a combination of water loss, muscle loss, AND fat loss). The loss on The Miracle is 100% FAT LOSS.

-Fat is very light, fluffy, voluminous tissue. It is not heavy dense tissue like muscle or heavy in weight like water. When you lose all fat, you will see a big difference in body size, that will look like much more WEIGHT than the scale measures. In fact, 1# of fat loss LOOKS like 2# of weight loss.

-Those that begin MM with high levels of fat circulating in their blood (total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides will burn the excess circulating fat before their body burns the excess fat stores on the body.

If you are on Step 1 and feel your fat loss has stalled.....these are the possibilities:

1. Carb intake over and above the maximum of 5 grams net carb at breakfast, lunch, dinner, bedtime, middle of the night (if you are awake)

2. Carb stacking: If you take your 5 gram optional carbs too close together (they should be about 5 hours apart), you will stall weight loss.

3. Inadequate water intake.

4. Inadequate physical activity. You need to increase your physical activity over and above your norm a minimum of 30 minutes, 5 times/week. This doesn't have to be gym quality exercise....but you have to increase muscle movement.

5. You may need an adjustment in thyroid medication if you have hypothyroidism.

If you have a stall and you are on Step 1 and identify with the above, correct the problemo and move foward

If you are on Step 2 and feel your fat loss has stalled....these are the possibilities:

1. Carb over-eating

2. Carb under-eating (missing your 11-20 at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bedtime, as well as carb dams needed between meals that exceed 5 hours) will stall weight loss.

3. Inadequate physical activity...it might be time to "ramp up" your routine by increasing minutes or intensity just a touch

4. Exercising first thing in the morning without taking an 11-20 gram choice causes fat loss to slow

5. Inadequate water intake

6. Increased stress slows fat loss.

7. Increased pain slows fat loss.

8. Illness causes a slower fat loss.

If you have a stall and you are on Step 2 and identify with the above, return to Step 1 for 10 days and then restart Step 2 having corrected the problemo.

The beauty of The Metabolism Miracle is that it always works... If you have Met B and follow this program, you can count on the results you deserve. So....one more time...."Stay off the scale, work the program, and expect the results. "Ho Ho Ho"...Diane
