MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I AM GRATEFUL FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!

That child of mine offered to give up his seat on the plane for a voucher! I'm waiting to find out if they take him off! He'll fly out at 3:30 if so. I was up at 6 am making the rest of the dinner! Oh, well, if he blesses someone else with his seat good things will come and he'll have another ticket to come home again or meet us on vacation somewhere. Oh, to be young and spontaneous!:rotfl:

Lisa - It must warm your heart to know that you have raised such a wonderful and giving young man!! Hopefully the person who got his seat will now be able to spend the holiday with their own family!

Drinking my decaf with a shot of my new Davinci caramel syrup...tastes a little like a caramel macchiato from Starbucks!!

Heading out to give the ponies some Thanksgiving day carrots, then back to finish up the gravy and veggies so we can eat at 5pm! Hope you are all having a Blessed Day!

Yep! He gave up his seat. Not too bad, though, he'll be here before dark. He said he was hoping his seat went to someone that needed to get home. My parents split a gut laughing about how we must not count. They were kidding. I hope his seat went to someone like Chloe:)

Robin: Your service to friends in need this holiday exemplifys the spirit of the season. You are a true blessing to them. I hope their pain was eased somewhat today.

Well, its all over but the crying here!! We are done eating, chatting, etc and my neighbors KNOW that I MUST wash all dishes and dry and put them away before I can relax at all...so EVERYTHING IS DONE!! YAY!

My big cheat for the day was 3 tbsp of sweet potatoes with as much glaze wiped off as I could and still be politically correct...plus about 2 tbsp gravy, and about 1/4 cup cheese sauce....mad it with fat free half and half, but still had some flour in it too...had it over a huge mound of steamed broccoli, along with my turkey so all in all I think I did OK! I couldnt even LOOK at the Pumpkin pie! Even used our own fresh pumpkin to make it...but seriously felt so full from the other stuff I didnt even want it. Didnt even get tempted by mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls, or anything else either...wow, never thought I would see this day...Thanksgiving dinner is one of my favorite pig outs of the year...if you had told me last year that I would eat 2 slices of turkey with a bit of gravy, broccoli with cheese sauce, and 3 bites of sweet potatoes and thats IT, I would have laughed in your face!

Hope everyone else enjoyed their day, and is napping now!

Lisa - hope JP made it finally!

Oh My Goodness. You are much calmer than I would be!

What a wonderful change this thanksgiving. I didn't avoid anything food wise, but took moderate portions of everything and small portions of carb containing foods. There were only four of us, so there wasn't a huge variety of food. Let's see, I had turkey breast, about five ounces I'd guess, about a half cup of sweet potato, a slice of jelled cranberry from the can, many fresh string beans a teaspoon of stuffing and splenda sweetened soda. Then I had a small piece of cheesecake for dessert. At my regular time after dinner I had a turkey salad sandwich on that super thin sliced wheat bread, and I've got my regular snacks set up for during the night. I feel pretty normal, no cravings or anything. And it was so very cool that I didn't want seconds, nothing like that. I feel so blessed. I eager to see how everyone else did, and if anyone else tried higher carb foods in small portions and also was able to go right back on the horse with no cravings. This is truly a miracle!

I'm very sleepy and it's 1 in the morning. I hope to hear from everyone tomorrow! God bless and have a sweet sleep! Oh yea, welcome to the Christmas Season! :santa:

Good Morning and OMG OMG OMG!!! We actually had a small EARTHQUAKE!! Magnitude 2.7 on the Richter scale with the epicenter exactly 2.3 miles from my farm!! Did you California Girls send that over here!!??? IT was so strange! There was a big sort of loud bang noise followed by the whole house shaking like a train was going through the yard...rattled stuff on the shelves and pictures on the wall... we thought the furnace had exploded! Then after everyone on the street ran outside and started driving around there were reports that a paper mill about 5 miles away had had an explosion...turns out it was an earthquake...wow, who knew that happened here! I made the mistake of telling Ken,, and now he is flipping out thinking it was far worse and I am just not telling him...I assured him we are all fine, and no real damage was done. He never heard of that happening here either, but apparently Virginia does have some small similar type quakes from time to time. Funniest thing was the ponies didnt even look up from their grazing! We got a good laugh out of that one, since if my neighbor SNEEZES from her house, they all startle and look around to see what the noise was!! They are so weird!

Nell - so glad you had a good day too, and didnt have any cravings for stuff, or over eat. I feel just fine this morning and am still marveling at all the food I DIDNT eat! Sent all the " bad" foods home with the neighbors, so all that is left here is turkey, broccoli, and the remainder of the turkey carcass for soup fixings!! Did Marti get her rice and beans? Im sure your parents were impressed with the meal and your willpower!!

Kate - you never told us if Chloe made it safely home, so I am assuming all went well there too!

Back to work, for what will probably be the most boring and slow day ever, since everyone will be out in the stores!!

Kathy and all you other Black Friday Crazies must be shopping already!! LOL, hope you gals get some great bargains!!

/
Pony, Nell

Sounds like you did great yesterday food-wise :thumbsup2. I did pretty good too. Some turkey, 1/2 danish squash, about 3/4 cup stuffing, then a small piece of lowcarb coconut pie.

Pony,

You easterners are such earthquake weenies  We've had about 6 quakes over 3 on the richter in the last 6 years. I'm sorry it gave you such a scare though. Maybe the ponies knew it was just a little one so didn't let it faze them. When my son was little he used to call them earthcracks. That about says it all, huh.

I've been MIA for awhile but wanted to pop in and wish everyone a
VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Special prayers for all to have safe journey's and fun family times!

MM Warriors have alot to be thankful for this year. I am very thankful for
all of you.

God's Blessings to all.

SharronLee

Sharron - so glad to see you. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving with your family! :goodvibes

Hello, just thought I would pop in and say Hi and hope all has a happy Thanksgiving! I finally got my computer back, so hopefully it will stay fixed:rotfl:

I have been really under the weather lately, flu has now hit my house!
Hopefully it will leave soon!

Honeygram

Honey - glad you got your 'puter back, but so sorry to hear that your house is down with the flu. :wizard::wizard: (That is good health pixie dust coming your way.)

Good evening everyone. Not in the best mood this evening, so I'll not put everyone in a bad mood.
Wanted to tell you all Happy Thanksgiving if I don't get here tomorrow morning.

Nell, enjoy the time with your parents.

Love you all and I'm thankful for each and everyone of you.

Kathy - I hope your Thanksgiving was a good day. We're here when you need to talk though. :hippie:

:wave2:Good evening everyone!

I needed to pop in and wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm beat, but every thing is ready for tomorrows feast. :) I still have a few things that I can't do in advance, or I would! lol The turkey is still a little too warm to slice so that shall be my last task before bed.

I also wanted to remind you all that I'm going to be leaving for Mexico sometime Friday. I didn't want you to think I was MIA. We have to hit the boarder at day break, DH insists that we travel in Mexico only during the daylight hours. Oh!Oh! That reminds me, I understand that they have the Ross stores that some of you talk about in Texas! I'm going to check to see if I can find one and stop on the way down or back and see what all the hubbub is about. lol :dance3: I think I'm as excited over that prospect as I am the vacation. lol

I'm so very thankful for you all and your support and friendship and our new WOL. You all have a wonderful day tomorrow! :grouphug:

Pam - have a great trip!

Drinking my decaf with a shot of my new Davinci caramel syrup...tastes a little like a caramel macchiato from Starbucks!!

I love caramel macchiatos from Starbucks. I'll have to look for the DaVinci caramel at Sam's next time.

Robin - you are such a blessing to your friends. I hope your unselfish giving is helping your friends.

Nell, Robin and Barb - great job on eating sensibly yesterday. I forgot to put my sweet potato in the over, so I just had turkey, ham and green beans for dinner. I had some of the Ritter dark chocolate with hazelnuts for dessert. I really wanted some mashed potatoes, but wasn't yet willing to try a little "cheat." I can get way too carried away sometimes, and right now I'm in the "zone" and want to stay that way. We came home after the festival and I had a turkey sandwich. We went to play games at a friends house last night and I took some legal blister peanuts and they cut up deer sausage and cheese, so that was easy to eat and completely legal for me too. So all in all, it was a good day.

You all were a very big blessing tht I counted yesterday.

Nell - enjoy the time you have with your parents this week.

Kate and Lisa - I hope your children made it home safely and that you are enjoying their company.

Robin - I am also at work today and it will be very slow. Only one attorney is working and he is in depositions out of the office, so I am holding down the fort alone. If you can IM from work, my "alias" is the same as here.

Well, there is work to do, so I had better get at it.

Have a wonderful day, and enjoy your families, shopping, etc.

Good Morning All! It's been really fun to hear the "day-after" stories of all well we all did! We were able to have the best time and not cheat! No one even noticed!

I have a great tip for yams - which we always call sweet potatoes, but I use yams. We peeled and cut them into big cubes, roated them with a bit of olive oil in the oven til done. I melted some butter and added a generous splash of the Davinci pumpkin pie syrup! Painted it on them with a pastry brush while turning so lightly coated. Just the perfect holiday difference from the regular baked with butter way we've been eating them on plan and no more carbs!! Yeah! No one knew I did anything 'legal'! They'll be back for the leftovers tonight so I'm doing it again because we ate most of them.

My turkey wa sooooo good! I made the gravy with the Thnk n- Thin and I will never go back to corn starch. It works way faster, easy to use, never any lumps. Once again, no carbs added and the company - none the wiser!

I added another splash of the syrup to my whipping cream and topped with cinnamon on the pumpkin cheesecake for the gang. Tom and I had the low carb pie with the same cream and no one even noticed we were eating anything different.

He and I had turkey, gravy, yams, green beans, salad with pomegranate seeds, plain pecans and feta, and the pie. We felt very much full of Thanksgiving cheer!

My son is cozy asleep in his own room and all is well with the world.

Robin! Wow! You had an earthquake! The biggest one we ever had here made our desks slide across the floor in 6th grade. No damage in our town. I have family in S.F., so different story there. Funny the ponies 'rolled' with it!

I hope you all have a blessed day with your families and don't get stampeded at WalMart. That's worse than an earthquake!

Kate - you never told us if Chloe made it safely home, so I am assuming all went well there too!

Robin - I don't like earthquakes! I never think of them happening your way....I am glad everything is okay. Your Thanksgiving sounds nice. I hope you aren't too bored today.

Chloe made her flight. She that there were 14 other students from her school on her flight and that she they wouldn't let her miss the flight! I picked my older daughter up on Sunday (she lives in San Francisco and doesn't have a car - she totaled the one I got her so that was that) and the girls had I nice night on Wednesday night. We went out to dinner and then we saw the move Blind Side. Very cute movie.

Yesterday, Thanksgiving, was really nice. I woke up stressed and just wanting to get through the day. But Demi (older daughter) reminded me that it was a day of Thanks and I did a little adjustment on my attitude. The day turned out really nice. Both girls helped with dinner. Even with everything being already cooked (thank you Whole Foods), it was still hectic. Chloe made a vegan squash soup and Demi made a pumpkin bread pudding. With that cooking going, and figuring out whole to heat up all of the other food, we were busy. The day was so nice we ate outside!

Yeah, Kate! I was waiting to hear how it all went! I'm making vegan butternut squash soup toay for the rest of the gang and freezing some for Christmas. We need the recipe for that pumpkin bread pudding for our birthdays or some big cheat day! I'm so glad you had a lovely day. I cooked the day before and heated it up for dinner. Thank goodness, with the flight time changing every time I turned around! We finally got him home at about 5:00. Whew! How long can the girls stay?

Lisa - your meal sounds delish! What a great idea for the sweet potatoes! I am so glad that J-P is home and under your roof! My girls are both sleeping upstairs. I just love having them here. Chloe is stressed about school. She has a hard time with the idea that it is okay to not know what she is going to do with the rest of her life. She wonders if she should even be going to school if she doesn't know what she wants to major in? I keep trying to tell her to relax and have faith that she is on the right path (I also tell her that it is okay to change paths too). She goes back on Sunday but will be home again by December 14 or 15. How long do you have J-P at home?

He goes back on Monday - then I count the days until before Christmas! You know how that goes.

If you were to poll your adult friends, I bet there would be few that are in the field they chose in college - yourself excepted! College provides the foundation, the potential contacts, world view, etc. so that one can take advantage of the path-not-yet-revealed when the time comes. You are wise to tell her to relax and enjoy the journey. I thought I was too shy to do what I do, and here I am following in my Dad's footsteps decades after college. I wish I had studied law - I love it, but I thought I was too shy. I was painfully shy for way too long and didn't blossom until I was 30, so I know firsthand that you shouldn't worry about it when you are young. At least Chloe is motivated to be all that she can be. That says a lot! Squish them up as much as you can this weekend! We're going for sushi tomorrow night.:woohoo:

Beverly - your dinner sounds good too! I am sorry that you have to work today... I bet it will be quiet - no phones ringing anyway.

That's the funny part about working for criminal defense attorneys. I already had 2 "emergency" calls this a.m. One guy needs us to go get bond set for 2 friends who were arrested. The holidays don't always bring out the best in people.:rotfl:

Well it sounds like everybody was so GOOD yesterday!! Alll the food sounds amazing...I would love to have a pumpkin bread pudding recipe...LOVE bread pudding and pumpkin too!

Th earthquake thing was pretty strange, but i guess not that unusual for Virginia...I KNOW we are earthquake weenies here!! We had no idea what was happening!

Kate and Lisa - I feel your pain when it comes to the kids visiting...I am so glad I was nearby when Ali was in school, so I got to see her frequently, but I am definitely feeling the withdrawal NOW, with 3 years here in the south, and her so far away...

Bev - Our phones are actually ringing too, but it seems all the crazies are out there today!! Do you IM on AOL or YAHOO? I have both available here...Im sure things will slow down to nothing pretty quick here...we are on a skeleton crew, no cafeteria open, OMG NO COFFEE except for the sludge in the vending machine...might have to sneak out at lunchtime and get some REAL coffee down the street!

I didn't actually decide to go to law school until about three years after college. I don't like conflict so I didn't think I would like practicing law. I figured out that one of the things that I really like about law is that it provides a structure for dealing with conflict. There are actually a lot of things I like about practicing law.
